Diana's Pov
Two huge men stepped forward, their eyes fixed on me with an unnerving stare. But Lily's grip on my arm tightened, her nails digging deep into my skin, but there was no pain. "Get away from her, she isn't going anywhere with you!" she shouted, her voice trembling with fear.
Hot tears streamed down her face, wetting the fabric of my shirt as she pressed her cheek against my arm.
The men sneered, their faces twisted with cruelty, as they reached out to drag her away. Lily winced in pain as they pulled her from my grasp, leaving me feeling helpless and enraged.
That's when something inside me snapped. I lunged forward, pushing one of the men aside, and wrapped my arms around Lily, holding her close. "Don't take a step closer!" I warned, my voice low and daring, as I took a step back, trying to shield her from harm.
King Dominion emerged from behind, a sly smile spreading across his face. "Or what, Diana?" he taunted, his eyes glinting with amusement. "What are you going to do? Are you going to kill them all?"
I scoffed, my heart racing with fear. "What do you want from me, King Dominion? I'm an outcast, not part of your village!"
"I want you as my pack's sacrifice," he replied, his voice dripping with malice, as he took a step closer, his eyes fixed on me like a predator.
Lily's sobs grew louder, her body shaking against mine. "Please don't take her, please, please!" she begged, her voice cracking. I wanted to beg with her, but words failed to come out. I was still in shock.
Suddenly, two strong hands grasped my wrists, yanking them behind my back, while another person grabbed Lily, holding her in place as she struggled to reach me. The sight of seeing her groan in pain caused something in me and the urge to fight to get to her came over me.
I coiled my body, bending forward on one foot, and twisted slightly to deliver a vicious knee strike to the groin to the one holding me. The base of my arrow quiver slammed into the attacker's stomach, leaving him doubled over and gasping. The girls behind him gasped in shock, backing away from me in fear.
Just as I was about to strike again, a firm hand grasped my wrist, holding me in place. I tried to shake it off, but a deep voice froze me in my tracks. "Stop fighting, or she dies."
My body went cold as I saw a blade pressed against Lily's throat. Her eyes were wide with terror, and her voice trembled as she sobbed, "Diana..."
Her eyes pleaded to me. I didn't know if it was not to go with him or not to let him kill her. I backed down and saw the pain in her eyes.
Alpha Dominion's cruel gaze locked onto mine, his eyes gleaming with triumph. "Take her," he ordered, and the men dragged me away, my gaze never leaving Lily's terrified face.
As I struggled against their grip, I felt hot tears pricking at the corners of my eyes, threatening to fall and my gaze never left lily’s own until I was dragged away from sight and from her reach. The tears came down when she left my sight.
I was blindfolded and bound, my wrists and ankles tied with coarse rope. I struggled against the rope, but they only seemed to tighten. The sound of rushing waterfalls filled my ears, followed by the distant calls of animals, and then... complete silence.
I was lifted and carried, my body bouncing against the shoulder of my captor. Finally, I was dropped to the ground, my hunting gear and knifes stripped from me. I felt helpless and vulnerable, like a prey animal left to the mercy of its predator.
As I lay there, I strained my ears to pick up any sound, but the silence was oppressive. I knew I had to act fast if I wanted to escape. I began to feel around me, my fingers searching the darkness for anything that could help me cut my bonds.
My hands brushed against the rough edge of a stone wall, and found my chance. I dragged the rope against the wall, the rough edge scraping against my skin like tiny knives. I gritted my teeth, ignoring the pain, until finally, the rope gave way, and I was free.
I ripped off the blindfold, blinking in the darkness. The room was in the shadows, and it took a moment for my eyes to adjust.
I saw that I was in a small, windowless cell, with only a door. The air was thick with the stench of urine and blood, making my nose itch and my stomach ache.
I lose the rope tied on my leg and I stood to my feet, my heart racing with fear and the unknown. I knew I had to escape, not just for myself, but for Lily, she must have cried her eyes out.
She was the only friend and family I had, and I was her only close friend. She was the only one who knew me for who I was and not as the outcast everyone knows me as. If not for my sake, I would escape for Lily.
The door creaked open, and I froze, my heart racing with fear. I gave a sigh of relief when I saw who was by the door. The same huge man who had dragged me from the village head's compound strode in, his eyes gleaming with a sinister stare.
I shot him a dangerous glare, but he simply dropped a plate of food, fruit and a jug of water on the ground, his movements careless. He didn't look surprised seeing me out of my bonds.
"You'll need that for this evening," he said, his voice dripping with malice.
My curiosity pricked, I took a step forward, my eyes locked on his. "What's happening this evening?" I demanded, my voice firm despite the fear that gripped me.
The man's smile was cruel and mischievous. "You're going to be hunted," he said, his eyes glinting with excitement. "And I'll enjoy every bit of it."
With that, he turned and left the room, the door shutting behind him. I heard the lock click into place, and my heart sank. I knew he was guarding the door because I could hear him grumble something.
I was trapped, with no way to escape, there was no opening or cracks I could escape through. The thought of being hunted like an animal sent a shiver down my spine.
I have always hunted animals and the thought of being hunted made me sick in the stomach. I knew I had to think fast, come up with a plan, or I'd be doomed.
I paced the small room, my mind racing with every possibility I could think of, but every idea seemed to end in a dead end. The man's words echoed in my mind, "You'll need that for this evening..." What did he mean? What lay in store for me?
