Diana's Pov
As I waited in the darkness, the sound of footsteps echoed through the room, growing louder with each passing moment. The same man who had brought me food and water earlier strode in, his eyes, with the same sinister stare.
He yanked me up from the ground, his tight grip on my arm. "Time's up," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "The hunt has begun."
I struggled against him, but he was too strong, so I gave up. He dragged me along with him, out of the room and into the woods. The moon cast eerie shadows on the trees, making me feel like I was in my own nightmare.
I wondered where the pack's alpha was, until I saw him standing tall, his head tilted back gazing at the moon. He was surrounded by his loyal members a little far from him.
Some were in their wolf form, their eyes glowing yellow in the dark, while others were in their human form, their faces twisted with cruel stares.
The man holding me dropped me to the ground, and I landed hard on my hands and knees. King Dominion looked down at me, his eyes gleaming with sadistic pleasure.
He started chanting some words which I didn't understand and his pack members followed. "You have 10 seconds to run for your life," he said, his voice dripping with malice when he was done with the chant.
"What will you gain by tormenting and killing me?" I spat, my anger and fear boiling over.
"I get to anger the goddess and have fun at the same time," he replied, his smile dark and cruel.
"Pathetic," I spat out, my eyes locked on his.
“You will know how pathetic it is when the count begins, which is now.”
“What count?”
"One," he started counting, his voice echoing through the woods.
"You are sick," I shouted, my heart racing with fear.
"Two," he continued, his eyes never leaving mine.
"I can't believe you're a king alpha," I snarled, my anger and disgust evident.
"Three," he growled, his patience wearing thin.
"You are—" I started, but he cut me off.
"Run before I rip you apart," he growled, his eyes filled with fury.
I didn't need to be told twice before I knew I needed to run. My adrenaline pumped hard and fast, and I took off like a shot, racing between the trees, my heart pounding in my chest.
The pack's howls echoed through the woods, closing in on me dangerously. I knew I had to keep running if I wanted to survive.
As I ran through the woods, my breath came out ragged. Suddenly, I saw two deer before me, their large eyes gazing at me calmly. "Don't run, please," I whispered, trying to slow my breathing.
They looked at me for a moment, then continued their gentle gazing like I wasn't there. I took advantage of the distraction and rain in their direction, hoping to throw the pack off my trail.
But before I could go deeper into the woods, a hard body knocked me to the ground. I groaned in pain and looked up to see a werewolf standing over me, its eyes blazing with fury. It let out a deafening howl, summoning the rest of the pack.
I jumped to my feet, but they were too fast. The pack surrounded me, their eyes fixed on me like predators.
Not knowing what to do, I ran towards the river, the only place I could think of to escape but there was no boat to my rescue. As I reached the water's edge, I saw the reflection of the moon staring back at me.
And then, in the flicker of an eye, the moon's color changed, shifting from silver to a deep, fiery red. I felt a surge of power blossom within me, like a spark igniting a flame.
"Stop!" I screamed, my voice echoing across the water. The pack froze, their eyes fixed on me in confusion. I stood tall, my heart pounding with fear and adrenaline.
No one moved, then, the pack's alpha, King Dominion, took a step forward, his eyes narrowed in suspicion. "What form of trick is this?" he growled.
I stood firm, my eyes locked on his. "This is not a trick," I said, my voice steady. "Just leave me alone." King Dominion snarled, his lips curling back from his teeth. "You're no match for me. I will hunt you down."
King Dominion changed into a massive wolf, his blue eyes flecked with green shining with an otherworldly look. He began to approach me, his paws padding against the ground. "Don't move," I commanded, my voice firm but trembling.
He halted, his eyes locked on mine, and I could sense his struggle against my order. Suddenly, one of the pack members took a step forward, and I spun around, my heart racing. "I said don't move," I warned, my voice strained.
To my surprise, the entire pack bowed their heads in submission, their eyes cast downward. What was happening? Why were they yielding to me?
King Dominion took a step forward, his eyes fixed on mine “Don’t take a step forward “I whispered, my strength waning from holding the pack in place for so long.
But instead of attacking, he transformed back into his human form, standing before me completely naked. "Shift," he ordered, his voice low and commanding.
The command was for me but the pack around us began to transform back into their human forms, naked, their eyes never leaving me. I felt an urge to comply to his command. "I said shift," King Dominion growled, his voice sending a surge of power through me.
"I am a human," I protested, my voice weakening.
He sniffed the air, his eyes narrowing. "You smell like a wolf."
"I am not one," I stated, my conscience fading.
"I am not a wolf," I whispered, before collapsing to the ground.
As darkness enveloped me, I felt a pair of strong arms lift me up, and a gentle voice whispered, "Mate." And then, everything went black.
