Mating With The Alpha

My best friend Lucy found her mate; she mated with the beta of our pack Midnight Howl. I was so happy for her but I couldn't help also feel a little jealous; I don't have a mate and I doubt at this point that I will ever find one. My name is Sadie Quinn and I am a werewolf, a mateless seventeen year old werewolf. You see the moon goddess has fated two people together since the beginning of time, they are your soulmate, your everything. Only werewolves feel their mate but they can mate with anyone werewolf or not. That's what happened with my parents my father is a werewolf and my mother is a human. Most wolves can find their mates around the age of fifteen, some are able to find them sooner. My brother James found his mate before the age of twelve in our neighbor Elle. The bond between mates is the strongest and most sacred bond in a werewolf pack however your mate could reject you if they choose. I fear because I am seventeen and my mother is human maybe I haven't felt my mate because I can't. Lucy tells me I am crazy because I have all the other wolf abilities and there is no way the moon goddess would curse me mateless, I just haven't found him yet. If you ask Ethan, my other best friend he says we don't have mates because we are destined to love each other, you see Ethan is gay and not many wolves are openly gay in our pack so he believes he too will never find his mate and the moon goddess didn't want him to be lonely so they blessed him with me. I do love Ethan he has been my best friend since we were nine. But mates they feel fireworks when they touch, they can read each other's thoughts, and can feel what the other is truly feeling. That is something I crave, I want it with my whole being and I want Ethan to have that too. Lucy met Cade while we were at Mira's diner after school; you rarely see the pack leaders as they don't attend our high school and it is not often that you would be in the same place as them in such a large town at the same time; but he came into Mira's followed by Logan the packs third just as we sat down at our table. The minute the bell chimed above the door, Lucy's head sprung up as if she smelt the most delicious thing on the earth and the minute their eyes met it was like they were in their own world. Cade started walking toward us and they both softly said“mate". It was something out of a storybook. Cade and Logan sat with us at the diner for a few minutes when they both got this blanked look on their faces, probably getting a mind link from the alpha. A mind link is basically like a cell phone in your mind, you send a message to the person you are connecting with and then they can respond. You can't just mind link with anyone, you have to have a bond. Family members, mates and pack leaders all have this bond. So I can mind link James, James can mind link Elle, and the alpha he can mind link his family, the beta, the third, the pack doctor and his mate which is called a Luna if he has one. “I'm so sorry Lucy please forgive me but I have to go.”Cade said. “I understand you are an important person, you have a job to do." Lucy whispered. She looked as if she wanted to cry as she spoke the words. I knew I had to do something. “Cade, we are having a party tonight just super small, close friends, why don't you come, if you can and you can meet Lucy's friends and hang out for a bit.”I invited. Cade looked at Lucy who looked hopeful of his answer. “Wouldn't miss it! I'll bring some friends I want you to meet too!” He said pressing a small kiss to her cheek before he left.
