1/ What was the truth?
The silence was broken only by the sound of breathing and the fighters' footsteps. Eloise and Kurt faced each other in a fighting arena located in a hidden base. The shadows in the corners of the room heightened the tension of the fight. Eloise carefully observed Kurt's tactics and movements. Although Kurt occasionally made flirtatious attempts during the fight, he stepped back in the face of Eloise's cold demeanor. Over time, the fight intensified, and eventually, Eloise brought Kurt down with a strategic move. Kurt got up, smiling to himself, but there was a look of disappointment on his face. "Eloise, I thought I could impress you," Kurt said, breathing heavily. "I apologize for that." Eloise watched Kurt silently for a moment, determination in her eyes. "There's no room for emotional matters in this, Kurt," she said in a cold tone. "Our mission is clear: focus on the target and achieve the outcome." Kurt nodded slightly and continued speaking in an accepting manner. "I understand. But you know, we made a bet on this fight, and I lost. But you'll regret losing me." Eloise thought for a moment. Then she said, "I don't think so, Kurt. You're a good guy, but you're not my choice." The two stepped outside quietly, returning to their duties. The disappointed look on Kurt's face was a reminder of the promise he had made that night. The way things ended was unexpected for him, but he understood that Eloise wasn't interested in him. As Eloise and Kurt stepped out of the fighting area, Eloise glanced around briefly and her eyes caught sight of her friend Lily waiting in the corner. Lily approached Eloise with a smile. "Eloise, you did an amazing job," Lily said with admiration. "It was really impressive." Eloise smiled at Lily for a brief moment. "Thank you, Lily. It was just a training session." Lily nodded in agreement. "I know, but watching you is always inspiring." At that moment, Kurt, who was quietly advancing, gave Eloise a brief glance but continued on his way without saying anything. Kurt silently left the scene. Lily's eyes shifted from Kurt back to Eloise. "Eloise," Lily said, her voice growing serious, "the principal wants to see you. You need to go right away." Eloise nodded in acknowledgment. "Of course, Lily. I'm coming right away." Eloise walked alongside Lily towards the principal's office in silence. Along the way, Eloise noticed Lily's worried glances but didn't dwell on them. When they reached the principal's door, Lily knocked gently. A deep voice from inside echoed, "Come in." Eloise pushed the door open and stepped inside. Lily waited outside the door. Eloise walked towards the principal, who was seated at a large desk in the center of the room. The principal gazed at Eloise with a serious expression. "Eloise," he said, taking a deep breath, "I need to inform you about something important." Eloise, sensing the principal's seriousness, focused her attention. "What is it, sir?" she asked. The principal pushed a file towards Eloise. "This file contains all the details. But to summarize, there is some important information related to your family's past." Eloise took the file and quickly scanned the documents inside. Her eyes widened as she turned back to the principal. "This... This is about my mother and father," she said. The principal nodded. "Yes, Eloise. We've found some evidence that suggests Conrad's family might be responsible for your parents' deaths. Despite being family friends, we can't ignore this information." Eloise examined the documents with a mix of shock and anger. "How could they? Why would they do such a thing?" The principal took a deep breath and continued. "We don't know the exact reason. But some clues and evidence indicate that Conrad's family might have been involved. That's why we need to take this situation very seriously." Eloise closed the file and asked in a determined voice, "What do you want me to do?" The principal nodded, appreciating Eloise's determination. "I want you to observe Conrad and gather more information about his family. You need to carry out this mission carefully. It could be very dangerous." Eloise took a deep breath and said, "Understood, sir. I will complete the mission to the best of my ability." The principal gave Eloise a look of confidence. "Good luck, Eloise. We all trust you," he said. Eloise left the room, clutching the file tightly. Lily was waiting just outside the door. Seeing the determined look on Eloise's face, she asked curiously, "What's going on, Eloise?" Eloise took a deep breath and said, "I've been given a new mission, Lily. This time it's much more personal." Lily nodded understandingly and walked away. Eloise continued down the corridors in silence, but her mind was racing with thoughts. The idea that Conrad's family might be responsible for her parents' deaths was both strange and painful. But at the same time, childhood memories filled her mind. She remembered how she and Conrad had become friends when they were young. They had played together and spent time together. Conrad's family was the closest friends of her family. They had gone on vacations together, celebrated Christmas parties together. But now, the evidence and clues mentioned by the principal created conflicting feelings in Eloise's mind. As she walked down the corridor, she thought about their once innocent and happy past. Was everything really as it seemed? Could Conrad's family have done something so terrible? Eloise was struggling with these questions in her mind. Suddenly, a childhood memory came to her mind. When they were little, Eloise and Conrad played together in the garden. At that time, her family was very happy. Her little brother had just been born, and Eloise was hurt and angry because the attention had shifted from her to her brother. Her red hair was shining under the sun. Conrad looked at her calmly, trying to understand. The silence they shared at that moment was like an agreement. They trusted each other. But now, they were in a time where that trust was being tested. Eloise took a deep breath as she looked out the window at the end of the corridor. The silence around her reflected the complex emotions within her. Was the accusation against Conrad's family really true, or was there something else? The happy memories she had with her mother, father, and brother began to surface in her mind. Her mother's soft voice singing lullabies, her father's laughter, and the games she played with her brother... They all passed before her eyes one by one. These memories with her family gave her peace and strength. But now, that peace was replaced by doubt and confusion. Eloise pulled herself together and went to the small desk in her room and reopened the file. She carefully examined every clue she could find about Conrad's family. The evidence and signs followed one another, but nothing was certain. Could Conrad's family really be that bad? They were the closest friends of Eloise's family. The vacations they spent together, the Christmas celebrations, the birthdays... They were all such beautiful memories. Suddenly, the door slightly creaked open, and Lily entered. Seeing the deep thoughts on Eloise's face, she said, "Eloise, is everything okay? I'm aware of what's happening." Eloise looked up at Lily and took a deep breath. "I don't know, Lily. There's so much going on in my head," she said. "Is Conrad's family really involved in this, or is it just a misunderstanding? Our families were so close that it's hard to even think about such a thing. Not only did my family fall apart, but his parents also passed away." Lily sat next to Eloise, trying to offer her support. "Eloise, no matter what, I'll be by your side. We'll accomplish this mission together. We need to find out the truth about Conrad's family, but you also need to take care of yourself." Eloise felt a bit relieved by Lily's words and nodded, thanking her. "You're right, Lily. We'll accomplish this mission together. But first, I need to put all the pieces together." Eloise began to re-examine the documents in the file. Lily did everything she could to help her. Together, they continued to work determinedly to uncover the truth. However, they were unaware of the difficulties and dangers they would face in this process. Eloise hadn't faced Conrad in years. After what had happened, she didn't even want to see him, let alone call him. She was afraid of confronting him. Conrad's eyes always seemed to see the truth, and they did... Especially when Eloise looked into his eyes, she could never pull herself away. Once someone looked into his deep blue eyes, they could never escape the waves unscathed. Eloise hadn't thought about those years for a long time. She was afraid of falling if she brought them to mind. She knew she would fall in the end, but she was also afraid of not learning the truth if she didn't move forward. What was the truth?
