Tom had to leave early the next morning as a meeting had been called for the robbery squad, and even the superintendent was going to sit in on it. Too many wealthy and influential people had been targeted, including Sir Edward Cummings at Cadderly Manor and now the Hattons of Chiltern Hall. The Chief Constable himself had told them to forget everything else and concentrate on the high-profile break-ins. The young constable was enjoying it far more than working with Johnson.
