Chapter 29

1308 Words

While Terry and Abigail were climbing up Chittering Downs, Lillian and Suzie were walking across the fields to Little Chortle. They always went together. When Suzie had been knocked down by a drunk driver, Lillian had been at the emergency room of the hospital, as that was where she had died too. The ex-nurse promised to watch over Suzie until her own mother joined her. Jordan, her brother, had taken the death of his little sister hard. Now fourteen, he had studied hard at school, and it was thought to be a certainty that he would go to one of the best universities. Sonia wasn’t at home, and Lillian had a feeling that she was in Gorebridge, where she was a social worker. But they should check on Jordan as it was the school holidays. He wasn’t at home either, so they tried the nearby park.
