The Unnatural

Landon addresses everyone in a very serious Beta tone. "I wish that our son's very first patrol meeting were with better circumstances. I suppose there is nothing like diving in head first. Now for the real reason Alpha Theo and myself have ordered everyone here tonight. There have been suspicious activity within and around our borders recently. Unexplained wild animals and even rouge's have been found dead within our borders and outside of the pack line." Landon holds his head down for a brief moment, that's when Dad steps Infront of him puts his hand on Landon's shoulder and says "What Beta Landon is getting to whatever or whoever is responsible for these attacks around the border lines, it seems almost unnatural. We have to have a clear head and know just exactly what we are dealing with before hand. We do not know how to stop something that is invisible like unnatural against the Earth. Attacking something that can not be seen or heard even with our wolf's sense's is not unheard of, it's just extremely rare and has not taken place in the last century..." Dad pauses for a moment and I see a smile on his face only one person who can make my Dad smile in the most serious of times that would be my mother those two are the perfect Alpha Luna couple someday I want what they have. Dad introduces my Mom to the guards and the patrol team. Usually a female is not really welcomed to be part of the Guard or patrol team but my Mother is the best warrior our pack has her strength and sense of everything is stronger then anyone's else on the pack including my Dad's. Dad introduces Mom, "Now we have someone inside of our pack who has knowledge of the unnatural against the Earth. I expect you to show the utmost respect for your Luna, my mate Callie she has inside knowledge of the Unnatural I think it best to allow our Luna to explain everything. After Luna is finished explaining what she knows I ask Logan and Mason to join me, Beta down by the creek on the east side, allow your wolf's to lead you there. I ask the rest of our new men to join their perspective areas that they were given this afternoon tonight is about gaining knowledge from our Luna and getting a better understanding of what we are dealing with."

Mom starts to speak "It is no secret I was not born into the White Night Pack, I am the daughter of Alpha Paul of the Seaside Lunar Pack, from Maine. I met my mate on an Alpha convention and uprooted everything I have known to be his mate. That is all ancient history and not the reason for us meeting. I will say that Seaside Lunar Pack has secrets and history from centeries ago dealing with the Unnatural. Ever since I was a child I was told stories more like nightmares about the Unnatural. To be honest I just always assumed they were ghost stories the elders told us children to make us behave and listen. The legend with the Unnatural and my home pack is that centeries ago my ancestors were what the human town called witch hunters..." You can hear all the men gasp loud and grumble my mother holds her hand up regaining control of the floor. "The witches, wizards and the ones who practiced dark magic they called themselves demons and work for the dark lord. There are some who considered their selves good and only used magic to get rid of the demons. The issue that my Pack and surrounding packs had were it was Unnatural it goes against Earth and our creator. The magical creatures started destroying the human towns and our packs and you never séen them coming. They used witchcraft such as potions and spells and invisible charms to destroy and attack everything. At first our council would say leave them be if they are not harming anyone. However it was far to noticeable for the humans, the humans started their own witch hunt and burned them at the stakes. That however never worked it took the power of three wolf packs to bring down the Unnatural magical creatures. My ancestors were chosen to conduct their the witch trails we worked with humans to destroy all the magical creatures. The story was passed down from generation to generation one thing for certain I just always assumed it was just an old wise tale, however if it is indeed true whatever we do we can never underestimate them. We are not saying that we are dealing with the Unnatural but we can not rule it out we have to be open minded. Now please depart from here and go to your assign locations."

Logan and I walk off my mother mind links me "son I would like to speak to you alone about the Unnatural tomorrow" I responded with "alright mom be safe getting home." and Logan and I allowed our wolf's to take control.

The moment Benard and Maverick (Logan's wolf) took over there were the most softest yet painful sounding screams. We took off running towards the sound. After a couple moments we noticed the sky turn the most crimson red you ever saw, Soon my Mom mind links me and asks about Dad I tell her we have not reached Dad yet she sounds very panicked..I try to mind link Ryker but it is not working so I mind link Mom "Mom ask Ryker to join on the far east side tell him to run towards to the screams" It was a good minute Mom replied "son I am sorry Ryker can't join you at this time" "Fine whatever I'll deal with him later." "what hell is wrong with him we could be facing World War three and he won't join us to protect his home lands" Benard grumbled he was extremely angry and to be honest so am I. We finally reached the far east side way past where Dad told us to meet him I have been mind linking him for a while now and Logan and Maverick has been mindlinking Beta Landon neither of us have heard from them. "Over there behind the big old oak tree" Maverick says it still a good ways out but Maverick has exceptional night vision better than most wolf's. As we get closer I see our Dad's and Charlie stops us right as we get on the borderlines between the pack property and the area that belongs to the wild we call it free land territory. "Boys stay back or you'll end up like Alpha and Beta" Charlie says. "The hell we are now move aside Charlie this is an order" Benard said in his deepest strongest voice his Alpha voice. "Listen young Alpha I mean no disrespect but if you go past this line you will also be strung up in the line of whatever the hell this s**t is Alpha Theo gave me a direct order to keep you and Young Beta Logan away from this line" Charlie states. "Well we can not just sit here and twiddle our paws and watch our fathers suffer in pain" Maverick says. "Maverick what do you see out there is there some way we can distract who or whatever is long enough to get our Dad's out of this?" I ask. Maverick looks around checking the scenery for any possibility of freeing our fathers. "yo bro looks like it's coming from the far right side by our fathers we got this, listen here Benard me and Charlie will have to run around in circles and cause a disturbance, then you being the fastest swimmer will need to swim to our fathers but listen here we have to do this in human form. I know you smell the wolf's bane and it's more deadly in wolf form then human form once you get Dad and Alpha I will be back to wolf form out here you throw Dad on my back and you shift and whatever happens don't stop you get the Alpha to safety and I will get my Dad. Charlie I need more guys on our flanks I need 20-30 guys now " Maverick orders in his Beta tone. "We do not know what's out there young Beta" Charlie says. "I know that's why we need all available guys now by the time Mason rescues Alpha and Dad, they will not be able to shift depending on how much wolf's bane they had, we are not going to not try, now get our guys out here now." Maverick demands. "Alright everyone I am shifting back to human and I will be in the lake it looks to be about 60/70 yards wide it won't take long I can reach that in no time...if there is a trap I want you both to abort the mission is that understand." I tell Maverick and Charlie. "It's show time" Benard says. I shift back to human form quickly I wait til I hear Charlie and Logan yelling and screaming I see the invisible trap that held Dad and Beta Landon up in the air come down. I am already in the Lake just a little longer to go. As I am swimming I am thinking to myself how the hell am I going to get two huge ass men in the water with me to cross back. Finally reached the end of the lake and decided to catch my breath for a moment and check my surroundings. I tell Benard to take over he has better eye sight and hearing then I do. We scan the area and I see them they look lifeless for the first time I had a very brief thought that what if we were to late. "can't think like that Mason we would have felt it if Dad crocked on us" Benard says. I roll my eyes at the way he just said that like no sense of compassion none I was stuck with a compassion less wolf sometimes. I am getting closer to them I reach them Dad looks at me with the most thankful look he has ever given me. Landon mutters out in the weakest voice I have ever heard a Beta have "we can't shift Mason, save yourself." "not on my watch Beta we can't shift here anyway Maverick spotted an invisible to human trap we have to swim back" I say. "Son I can't swim" My Dad says in a very worried voice. "Well I guess your in luck you happen to have the fastest best swimmer in the entire state right here told you my swimming would come in handy someday" I say a little to smug I might add. All those times Dad has given me grief about wasting time swimming. I pick Beta Landon up first he seems to be a little more able to walk than Dad does. I brace him up and ask is he ok to walk to the lake he nods his head. Next is Dad he was the strongest man I knew it was hard seeing him like this he could barely walk he could not even open his eyes up. I get to the Lake I see a huge log to brace Dad and Landon on. "Beta I am going to need you to keep your hold on Dad make sure he doesn't fall don't worry about me I am going to tie this branch rope I made around my waist and to the log and hopes it stays. I made a rope out of thin branches and leaves and tied it around the log. and jumped in to give it a test seemed like it would work let's hope it does. In the water swimming the weight of the log definitely slowed me down a little bit. I kept checking on Dad and Beta often making sure the branch rope was working right. we finally made it to the other side just I got Dad and Beta positioned again just a couple hundred feet and I could shift. Once I reached the clearing I shifted Landon stumbled on my back and Dad was the hard part has he literally could not do anything for himself Beta helped me get up on my back. "Keep a good steady hold on him please Beta" I say "yes young Alpha" he mumbled.I noticed Logan and the guards were out numbered. I mind link Logan "I am going to the pack hospital to drop Dad and Beta off can you hold on for fifteen more minutes?" "Get them to safety then come back to join us hurry Mason. " I started running I mind link Mom "hey mom call the hospital I am fifteen minutes out Dad and Beta has been seriously injured with wolf's bane and some hocus pocus unnatural s**t I think they will be ok but I want the doc to check on them." "I have already called son they are waiting on you to get there. " "Mom he is ok just weak." I reassured her. I was right there at the hospital entrance I could not shift because I have already destroyed two sets of clothes but they know who I am in wolf form and they see Dad and Beta on my back. Two men were waiting outside when I came up they gently removed Dad first then Beta and laid them on a stretcher. "Take care of them Logan and I will be here as soon as we can our mother's are on their way here now. " Maverick says. "Young Alpha you have nothing to worry about Alpha Theo and Beta Landon will be our first priority." I normally won't get emotional but I have never seen my Dad this bad Benard bent down licked my Dad's head and we whispered "Love you Dad." Then Benard ran off back to Charlie and Logan both were in human form when we passed them not sure why. I decided to tell Logan I was on my way back to him. "Awesome we have it under control we think do not pop up with Benard they have wolf's bane everywhere" s**t I do not have any more clothes on me. I mind link Gracelyn I knew she be asleep but Mom is already on her way to the hospital. "Gracelyn wake up hurry I need you to throw a couple pair of shorts out the front door hurry I am five mins from pack house" "Gracelyn wake up" finally she responded " I was already awake I have already sat you some clothes out Mom thought y'all might need them." "Thanks sis." "Be careful you annoy me but I would miss you if something happens." She tells me "don't worry this is what we do just stay in the house." I shut the mind link off she was going to rambling to just make sure we were ok my sister worries about everyone and everything thing. I also did not want her to get a glimpse of Dad from my mind something she can do she can look into our memories and see the emotions and feel the we have. I grabbed the shorts and shifted quickly Logan and the guard wasn't very far and I wasn't sure where the wolf's bane was at. I heard Charlie call out I threw him a pair of shorts and then Logan and some others needed them as well. "Maverick can see this invisible line that no one else can see the last he check it was about 3 ft up Infront of us that trap is covered in wolf's bane we can't pass it." Charlie informs me. "we killed three of their kind I think they are gone the sky went back to normal color about twenty minutes ago." Logan says. I did notice I just was to busy with Dad and Beta.I noticed everyone had the water pump out. "are we draining the lake or something" I ask "We are about to see if water will clear the grounds and wash away the wolf's bane away." Charlie says."tonight was a close one I do not like not being able to fight fair fighting things we can not see or even hear there has to be more on this mess, I know it's extremely late but keep a couple guards out here but up a warning tape and have to wash away everything they can and block this area off we do not need anymore wolf's getting hurt or worse, I want to talk to every guard and patrol round them up and meet in fifteen minutes at the patrol house" I demand. "Yes Young Alpha we will meet you there." Charlie says. "Logan let's go I wanna run in and check on our Dad's before we go back to the patrol house" Logan follows me we are white the entire walk there. we reach the hospital entrance and I kind of stand back Logan nudges me but he didn't see my Dad the way I did. It's hard to see the toughest strongest man you know weak and unable to move. We walked in went up to where family was at we say our Mom's and both of us just ran into them with a big bear hug you could say. "Son they won't tell us anything just that Beta was ok but they won't tell me anything about your father." "I am going back there now to get answers." I said I was aggravated why didn't they tell Mom anything. I was met by Dr. Curry he is basically the packs normal primary doc. "Doc what's wrong where is he." I panicked a little more then I should but when they wouldn't tell Mom anything but said Beta was ok it concerned me. "calm down Young Alpha, your father for the most part is ok he is weak and we believe his wolf part of him is gone." I stood there shocked "what I would have felt that right,...no Carter is not gone." I ask "Mason your father has traces of lethal amount of wolf's bane in him no wolf can survive that much wolf's bane.." I interrupted him "but if Carter died wouldn't his human side have effects as well like our wolf's side." "not necessarily your father being the Alpha and a mighty and a strong one at that fought back against it he will be extremely weak for awhile now, we might be wrong some people can suppress their wolf's and order them away for while usually to protect them I have tried to talk to your father but he will not give me any knowledge if he ordered Carter away or if something happened there is no test that let's us know that." "Can I see him" I ask. "briefly" doc says. He leads me to Dad's room the man was in a hospital gown looking mad as hell and yet he looked extremely breakable. "Dad" I say with my head kinda down. "what did I say great leaders hold their head up" he mumbled. "yep he is still our Dad" Benard said. "Dad what happened?" I ask. " son there will be time for that at a later date I need you to take over and be head Alpha for awhile." He says. "what Dad I am not ready no not yet" I spit out. Something Landon said to me once was when the Young Alpha and Beta take over is when death happens or they become to old or something happens to their wolf. "Dad where is Carter?" I ask he didn't say anything just sat in silence "Dad where is Carter?" I ask again still wasn't getting an answer from him. "Dad you would not ask me to take over if something had not happened to Carter you said just the other day I still had a long way to go." I yell at him "I ordered Carter away it was to dangerous for him with the wolf's bane I could feel him slipping away so I suppressed my wolf away and demanded he give me full control I was trying to protect my wolf and ended up making him to where he probably will never return. Is that what he wanted to hear.."he starts screaming now "I can't be the Alpha to this pack if I have a suppressed wolf." he says I honestly did not know what to say to him but at that moment Logan walked in. "Mason sorry to interrupt but we have to go if we want to talk to the guards and patrol team" He says. "Dad you can still be Alpha don't do anything rash Logan and I will be back and we will discuss this more but we need to meet with everyone on the Unnatural we will fill you and Beta Landon in later." I say as I am walking out. "Son you are more then ready to take over I should never have doubted you" He says I had to get out of there I am so not ready for this. Logan and I give our Mom's a hug I fill mom in a little on Dad and tell her we will be back.

Logan and I get back to the Patrol House it extremely late and I am at lost for word have no clue what I am truly doing here. Charlie meets with me and Logan to discuss things that have been happening before tonight. Finally I stand up behind the podium with Logan on my flanks because honestly I trust him with my life. Charlie is on my other side I am not a Charlie fan but my Dad has always trusted him to be head of patrol and to be honest he knows more about what's going on then me or Logan. I hold my hand up to get everyone attention doesn't work very well. Logan yells in a Beta kinda tone "Listen up now." Logan than looks at me and says "floor is all yours Young Alpha." He just had to put my title I mean it is the normal thing to do but considering my dad's argument a moment ago I didn't want me and Alpha used in the same sentence. "Thank you everyone for doing everything that you have done tonight and what you do everyday. Tonight was not suppose to have went this way it has been brought to our attention that wild rouge's have been found killed inside our borders. None of our pack have been the killers they were innocent free rouge's Patrol units and Guards have been monitoring the situation for a while. Tonight there was an attack on our people on our land. This attack was infact The Unnaturals doings more then likely Witchcraft of some sort as Luna addressed earlier it is indeed true all of it. We discovered they used an invisible trap that is covered in wolf's bane I know I do not have to tell any of you how deadly wolf's bane is to our wolf's it's even dangerous to us in human form. We discovered this with the help of Logan's wolf Maverick, He has unbelievable eye sight better than anyone else in our pack. Maverick discovered the trap unfortunately it was to late for our top members of the pack. Alpha Theo and Beta Landon were held captive in a trap of wolf's bane..." You hear mumbles in the crowd. I hold a hand up and continue. "Now Beta Landon is ok he will be home tomorrow.." Logan puts his hand on my shoulder and finishes the statement for me "Unfortunately Alpha Theo is going to need more time he is much weaker than Beta, Young Alpha Mason will know more in a little bit." I thank Logan for doing that I am not sure I could have said that infront of anyone. I continue from where Logan left off. "So we can not see or even feel anything from now on we will require patrols with two or more men on patrol and the same rules for the guards will apply. Charlie will post the new assignments up tomorrow. We have washed the area down where the wolf's bane trap was located. We also blocked that area off. I ask you all to stay away from the area there will be patrol on that area at all times. I know some of you have human mates and their human family visit from time to time it is upmost import we keep our human families and our pups aways from this area at all times. Young Beta will be sending notifications to all pack members of the restricted area. I want you all to go home get some rest unless Charlie has asked you to stay for duty. Thank you all again for everything you to keep our lands and families safe." I dismissed the meeting and Logan and I talk with Charlie for a bit then we head back to the hospital to check on our Dad's.

Walking back to the hospital it's very quite and I tell Logan "Thanks man for not mentioning my dad's wolf to anyone yet I still can't see him ever making Carter bow down to him and suppress him like that." Logan responds with yeah man don't mention it, it's not my place to mention that. I also notice you didn't mention being acting Alpha to anyone." I slap him and respond "I am not acting Alpha and definitely not after the argument my Dad and I had a couple hours ago." Benard is acting crazy again that scent we smelled at school on that strange girl is back. It's very faint in wolf but definitely not human what is going on here. I ask Logan "You smell that I suppose it is that strange sweet scent from earlier today whatever the hell it is it's driving Benard crazy." Logan laughs and says "I think you and Benard need to go to sleep" "I laugh "Yes we do after we see Dad."

Finally made it back to the hospital we were told Dad and Beta Landon was in the same room Dad threw fit saying his Beta and him would still have work to do so they gave them a room together. We see our Mom's a sleep on each of their beds Dad is asleep but Beta Landon is awake. Logan walks over to his Dad and they give each other a warm father son hug."Good job boys" Beta says I walk over to my Dad and Beta says in almost a whisper "He is going to be fine Mason it will just take time to heal without Carter. " I look up and ask "so you know about Dad's wolf?" Beta responds with "no not directly but your father and I have worked together for over thirty years and before that we were best friends it doesn't take long to realize that something is wrong with your partner and there is only one reason your father would immediately make you acting Alpha." I ask "will Carter ever return again?" Beta responds with "I am not sure son I have never been around anyone who suppressed their wolf before or the outcome. I have heard legends and stories but that is all for another time and place, right now you two boys need to get home and go to sleep. Mason you have the weekend off it's your birthday weekend anyway and once you turn seventeen you will officially become acting Alpha your father is right we can not have an Alpha who suppressed their wolf, until the wolf returns anyways. This is an order boys go home and sleep you both deserve this day off. Alpha Theo and I want to meet with you both later on but for now you need sleep." Logan and I both kissed our Mom's forehead and left to go home. We walked in silence the entire way back even Benard was quite and he is usually extremely obnoxious. We get to the pack house Logan went his side of the house and I walked into ours I noticed Gracelyn was asleep on the couch. I gently picked her up and carried her to her room laid her in bed covered her up kissed her forehead and said "Good night moon pie sleep tight." She grumbled "I am not a food Mason but I am glad your finally home I can sleep peacefully now." I knew she would be out before the door closes. That's when I went to take a shower and throw on sleeping shorts and just flopped down on the bed the clock on the wall said 6:17AM it was already a new day and tomorrow I would be Seventeen and the Alpha to the entire pack. I quickly went to sleep lost in my thoughts.
