When Fate Collides

'What the hell Benard' I say as I am scrambling to my feet to get up. 'Sorry Mason man you know if your not on that field by 3:45 Landon will report you to Dad.' I just roll my eyes although Benard is right Benard is my very obnoxious wolf but he has good intentions and will stop at nothing to protect our family. I am Mason Knox son of the Alpha I am to take over as Alpha someday, and my Dad swears it will be just in a couple months time. I am so far behind on training because my older brother Ryker should be the one taking over. I never cared for it honestly I did our normal warrior training and I was going to be my brothers right hand man next to our Beta. However Ryker is no longer entitled to be Alpha and I have been having to cram in years of training because of his choice. My brother is four years older then me and he found his mate about three years ago not long after he turned seventeen. Usually it is wonderful when a wolf finds his mate however in Ryker's situation was not that great his mate is a human. Although there are humans who get mated to wolf's it is still rare almost unheard of in the Alpha line. Don't get me wrong there is absolutely nothing wrong with Alice she is very understanding of our family and absolutely loves and adores my brother. The problem however is that she refuses to accept becoming Luna and wants no part of it and Ryker will not force her nor would it be the right thing to do. Ryker has moved to the human side of town and he and Alice live together in a nice little house, they got married a year ago. When she gets pregnant she will have no choice but to be seen by the pack Ob/GYN no human doctor would understand because she would be carrying Ryker's pup and even though he disclaimed all titles and wolf life does not change his gene's. As I am finishing getting ready for school I open the door before Mom can knock on it. She is the reason I am still in school. When Ryker decided to leave my Dad, he was set on me taking over training day and night and said that school wasn't important for an Alpha most Alphas train their entire life I had just a couple years to learn everything. I reach down and give gentle kiss on my mom's cheek. 'Good morning mom' 'good morning you better get going one more report from Landon on being tardy and your Dad will ban you from the swim team' she says. 'I'm going mom, I am just a little tired that's all.' I ran down stairs and see Gracelyn sitting in the kitchen 'what are you doing up so early' I say to her. 'We never do anything anymore you are never home when I wake up and and your not home when I go to bed and you promised me that you take me out for a run I am not getting any younger Mason' she states. 'look I will soon a promise is a promise I just don't know when look I have to go or Dad will kill me love moon pie' I give her kiss on the forehead and start running out. I hear her yell 'don't call me that I am not a food Mason and if you won't take me I'll go by myself I am sure Stormy will know what do' I am half way out the door and I yell in a demanding Alpha voice 'don't you dare go alone If Dad finds out he will have every Guard on your tail and they are all busy at this moment you will not go alone we will make time.' My little sister just got her wolf Stormy a couple weeks ago she has been itching for a run but refuses to go with Mom because Mom is to over barring at times and Dad refuses to accept she is growing up. She turned twelve a couple months ago. I shift the moment I get the chance I can get to Landon quicker in wolf form. 'you know we can't let them go alone no telling what will happen in a first shift and a girls first run, Mason she is our sister and your not making time to help her' Benard says I know he's right I just can't seem to catch up with everything Alpha training swim practice school and finals it's all over whelming but this weekend I have no plans and Sunday's are my completely free day so I will take her then if not soon I know Stormy will take over and force a shift soon it's only a matter of time when a wolf comes to life and will take charge to get that first run in. Benard seemed ok by now he was calm now besides I knew Gracelyn wouldn't do anything when Dad or I use our Alpha tone. Finally made it to the field where Landon and I had training. Landon is the Beta to the White Night Pack and Dad's best friend. He tells Dad everything. I saw he had Logan with him Logan is my best friend and he takes my notes in homeroom class so I can sleep. 'Logan I agreed to let you come to get you out the house do not distract Mason or I will make you go back home to your mother and sisters' Landon warns Logan. Landon test me on stuff from yesterday and everything else we been through. It seemed like just a split second and training for this morning was over. I enjoy the mornings it goes by fast. I have to do patrol with the guards tonight Dad is coming he says something strange has been happening close to our pack border he won't explain it just told me tonight we would be going out with the guards on patrol. Logan and I stop and grab breakfast we didn't wanna go back to the pack house the fear of running into his emotional sisters or an over ranged Alpha and having to doge Gracelyn again was not something I wanted to do. 'So what's going on at your end of the house for you to wanna get up so early and go with your Dad to my training' I ask as we grab a table a local human cafe. Logan order us two waters and chocolate milks and says 'the twins received their wolf yesterday they are super dramatic I hate being the only guy in the house.' Landon has four sisters he is the middle of triplets and then a couple years after the triplets were born Landon and Claire had twins. The order is LeAnn, Logan, and Lucy they are Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Triplets then they have Kaylee and Kathrine the twins. 'so Benard and I have to take Gracelyn and Stormy out for her shift and run this weekend, you and the twins should join us' I ask as I stuff food in my mouth. 'Please leave LeAnn and Lucy at home they still insist I am one of their mates like I even have time to be concerned with a mate with everything I have going on.' I pleaded he just laugh he thinks it's funny that his sister's swears one of them will be the next Luna. 'Your seventeenth birthday is coming up in just a couple days you know Benard will find his mate soon a good Alpha chooses their mate early on.' He says with a big grin on face. 'Shut up' I tell him as I punch him a little harder then I should have and we get up and leave with a good tip we have swim practice soon. 'Lets go to swim practice and get this day over with.' Swim practice went by way to slow then we took our showers and got ready for classes. I mistakenly ran into this odd girl at school on my way to home room I knocked her books down I bent down to pick them up and apologize for running into her. She says 'Thank You' very shy like and backs away from me like she is terrified of me. We attend Eldham High it's a human/wolf school. This girl doesn't smell like a wolf nor a human. but she is all I can think of I've seen her around but never got close we tend stick with the wolf's in the school. School was finally over and I tell Logan I am going to walk home can't get that strange red headed girl out of my mind. 'Focus Mason you don't have time for this' I say to myself. As I approch the border line I see a Chevy Silverado at the gate I walk up only to discover it's my brother Ryker and he human mate Alice. It has been a long time since he has come home. I give him a long look and then walk around and give Alice a welcoming hug. I really do like Alice she seems perfect for Ryker even if she did take my brother away from his birthright. 'I almost didn't recognize you Mason you've gotten huge since the wedding' Alice says. 'oh it's just the Alpha coming out in me it happens to all Alphas at some point' I state and give Ryker a deadly stare. I am still angry because of him I have be Alpha I have to know everything he trained for his entire life in just a few years. He is the reason I don't have a life anymore but he is my brother and I have missed him. 'Dude would you tell your guard I am your brother and I have to get Alice to the OB clinic' Ryker demands. I look over and see Charlie is on duty 'Charlie how's it going you know you can let them in he is one of us. "So Charlie opens the gate and I jump in the back of the truck Ryker lets me off a couple hundred feet from the pack house. "Thanks bro, congratulations on the pup take care of your mate and don't be a stranger, should I tell Mom your here we can have dinner tonight?' I ask with a begging plea. 'Mom knows we are here she made the appointment for Alice it took a lot for her to accept she not carrying a human we have plans for dinner with the family later but one foot out of line from Dad and we will leave.' He says with a warning. 'See ya later little bro' he drives off and I wave back at them. 'We have to keep Dad calm during dinner' Bernard says 'we have not seen our brother in a long time he may even be of some assistance to us on becoming Alpha' he says with excitement. 'I am still upset at him' I grumbled Tonight is going to be an interesting evening it has been a very long time since the entire family has been together. Don't get me wrong we have all accepted Alice as family but there are still wounds inside this family. Mom absolutely adores Alice and claims that she has turned her rough hearted son into a gentle caring soul. Gracelyn absolutely loves Alice but thought once Ryker marked her she would come around and accept her fate. That never happened Alice never allowed Ryker to mark her. They make it work for them I suppose. Then there is me I am happy my big brother found someone to spend his life with. I am just bitter because of him I am having to do all this extra training and have not received a full six hour night of sleep in three years. Worse of all he is not here to guide me and show me what do, and if truth be told that is what upsets me the most. Let's not forget Dad, he took the news to Ryker the hardest. There was war around this house for nearly three weeks. I can still recall the night Ryker disclaimed his birthright. Ryker said he would never force Alice to this lifestyle he was not right for him to do. He then proceeded to state he was going to live with Alice and he no longer wanted to be Alpha of White Night Pack. Dad was angry he allowed his wolf Carter to come to life Dad shifted, and my brother never once shifted to his wolf to protect his self. It was at that moment that our family separated Carter attacked Ryker in human form saying no pup of his would turn his back on their birthright. The thing that happened next shocked all of us Carter attacked Ryker in human form and that when I shifted to allow Benard to come forward and did something I never expected Benard fought Carter, we never wanted to fight our Dad but we knew if we didn't do something Carter would have killed Ryker why he never shifted to protect himself still remains a mystery. The next moment what was barely a whisper Ryker proclaimed that he would de-announce his birthright and leave behind his Alpha title. Then Naktia, Mom's wolf and Carter had a tie in and I threw my brother on my wolf's back and carried him to the pack hospital. I stayed with him for almost a week he should have healed faster but it was has if Ryker suppressed his wolf or something not allowing him to do what he should have done. Once Ryker woke up and was stable Dr. Curry kicked Ryker out not entirely his fault Dad made a law that Ryker was no longer welcomed within the borders of our pack. That rule changed quickly because of Mom and Gracelyn throwing a fit about it. That was it when have all since healed since that night but the wounds remain there. I could hear Mom and Dad arguing from upstairs about tonight's dinner. Mom threatened Dad that he would be on his best behavior tonight she needed her family back and he was about to have a grand-pup if he wanted anything to do with then he would have to apologize to Ryker and Alice. Dad has not been the same since he attacked Ryker but he would never admit he was wrong. He just made me train night and day that I was to take Ryker's place. We even had to have a ceremony because Ryker was no longer going to be the next Alpha. Boy did that cause the gossip tongues to wag within the pack. Beta Landon but a stop that quickly but it was still extremely awkward at first every she-wolf my age started coming on to. That is when LeAnn and Lucy started hanging around me every chance they got. What young teenage boy doesn't love that attention but I was thankful for the rough trainings in the beginning I didn't have the heart to tell not interested. Now they annoy me and I make Logan deal with his sister's. Logan helped me the most we have always been friends but our friendship got stronger after Ryker left. Logan is next in line to be Beta so Logan has had Beta training his entire life. He understands and helped the most. It's not the same as Ryker but better than nothing. Finally Dinner time has arrived, Dad sat at the end of the table Mom sat next to him, next was Gracelyn. Across from Mom and Gracelyn was Ryker and Alice, I sat at the opposite end of my Dad. Dad even had to make a comment "Only Alpha's are entitled to sit at the heads of the tables" He stated with a grain, my mom punched him probably a little hard but truth be told he deserved it. It was very silent at first Mom broke the ice first "Well sweet heart what did Dr. Curry say." She asked so politely. Ryker looked at Alice unsure if Alice wanted us to know or not it was a little long pause before Alice spoke. "He confirmed I was pregnant with a child.." Ryker interrupting her "we are having a pup Alice just accept fate would you I love dear I would do anything for you, hell I left my birthright gave up everything I loved for you because without you my life is meaningless, but don't ask me to act like this is a normal pregnancy with a normal child." It was silent again It would appear that there is trouble in Paradise. Ryker stood up and in a very pleading voice "Dad, Mason I would like to speak to you both in Dad's office, I will go ahead and say aloud what Alice and I are asking for is to rejoin the family nothing else just housing hell Dad even one of guest rooms would be fine on lower level of the pack house the rest I would like to speak with you two privately after dinner." "You are still my son and for that I will grant you this request I do not forget easily keep that in mind boy. While I am thinking of it I should tell you that you and heir's lost their title and birthright the moment you de-announced yourself from your pack I will not allow Mason to step down for you to reclaim what you think is yours automatically just keep that in mind boy." Dad said in the most powerful voice he could. "I wouldn't expect Mason to step down this is not what I care to discuss any further at this moment" Ryker stated. My Mom mind links me 'whatever your brother wants promise to be open minded about it, this might be a good opportunity to get Ryker back' I couldn't say anything back I would be lying if I said Ryker wanting to come back didn't scare me what did he want, I be damned if he thinks he will get Alpha over me We didn't work this hard for nothing. I really could not say anything back to mom so I just gave her warm smile. Everything started warming up my mom showed Alice to their room for the night and made Gracelyn go to her room. It felt like this was the never ending day. My Dad and Ryker already went to the office Dad had asked to speak to Ryker alone for a moment he would mind link me when he was ready. I stayed in the dinning room just playing the events of today in my head and I over heard my mom telling Alice that she had a huge party planned for me on Sunday as it's my seventeen birthday and just explaining how important a wolf's seventeen birthday is. I actually forgot that is was my birthday. "we still need to make time for our sister Mason this can't wait any longer" Bernard gives me a warning I do not even respond just nod my head. Finally Dad mind links "it's time for you to come join us son just remember Alpha's never walk with their head down You walk in here with head held high, I know your worried and concerned but you can't show that to anyone." Dad knows us to well, I get up and keep my head up and walk in to join them. I decided not know normally I won't for respect but it's just my bother and Dad and I need to know what Ryker wants, I just walked in and sat down. "Well what do you want Ryker" I demand. "Loose the attitude little brother I am not here to over throw you in becoming the next Alpha I know I f****d up when I de-announced that birthright." He says and places his hand on my shoulder. "It is no secret Alice is my entire world now I absolutely love her with everything inside of me. I have convinced her that while she is pregnant with my pup we need to be inside the border of the pack it took some convincing but she has finally agreed to stay here but only until she has the pup. I am wanting to stay and raise my pup up right I gave up my birthright and my heir's birthright I am not dumb but it will still be half wolf and need to know what to do. It's best we move back inside of the pack for good but I am taking this baby steps with Alice. So what I am asking I know that the family feels that she is the reason for me leaving yes that is true but I am asking for everyone to make Alice feel at home make her want to live here." Before he can finish I ask "is she marked, that can cause major issues if she is not with our unmated males and I can probably spare a guard for her protection but"...Ryker cuts me off "look lil brother I took care of that, I thought of that before coming here I forced the mark and that's why she pissed at me but it was for her safety and my pups safety. We have some stuff to work she does enjoy our mindlink now she yells at me now all the time everywhere. Anyway I am going to ask that maybe Claire, Mom and even Mrs Evelyn take her out get to friends with her make her feel comfortable at home. I just don't want her to think that I am making someone watch her or hang out with her or whatever." He stops talking finally. My Dad and I nod at one another "that can be arranged son, welcome home" Dad gives Ryker a hug I leave I know Dad and Ryker need some time to repair their broken father son connection. As I leave my Dad says "midnight at the patrol house I expect you there and on time Mason" I just give a hand wave. The clock says 11:45 that gives me plenty of time to get to the Patrol House. I tie an extra change of clothing to my ankle just in case and head out the door and start to shift when I out of eye site of everyone shifting in front of everyone doesn't bother me but LeAnn and Lucy always starring out their windows when they know I have to go out so I wait until I am far enough from the pack house to shift. 'well let's get this intriguing day over with shall we' Benard says as we hop up in the patrol house. 'He we go' Benard says. "Look whose on time for a change" Landon says laughing. "Enough jokes this is serious if I could have your attention I will explain why I called meeting so late" Dad proclaims.
