"I understand that you are worried," Alpha Dominic said, his voice a little softer now. "But I cannot allow myself to be swayed by your fears. I must remain objective, and I cannot do that if I allow myself to be influenced by your emotions. Please, leave me be. I need some time to think."
Claire's heart sank, but she knew that she had to respect her brother's wishes. "I will leave you be," she said, her voice heavy with disappointment.
Claire turned and walked to the door, her hand trembling as she reached for the handle. She paused for a moment, her heart aching, before turning back to face her brother. "I love you, no matter what," she said, her voice breaking.
