The coming days found the castle in a flurry of activity. Una was inundated with shifting and new accounts. She was left to stay up at night, counting out the season’s pay. Kori and Gani were beginning preparations for the Summer menu. Hue and Georgie were running drills for new recruits. Thus Peytra was left alone to throw herself into her work.
Well, mostly alone. Marcus had finished his orders and cataloguing the week previous and felt that his new hobby would be to pester the newest female resident. Peytra, for her part, was not eager to be seduced by this known playboy. She was curt, rude, and sarcastic to him, but that only seemed the embolden the archivist.
