Prologue
Alex Smith always pictured how he was going to meet his mate.
Now don't get me wrong, Alex isn't some hopeless romantic. He doesn't spend his days watching romantic comedies or writing sappy poetry. No, Alex was more of a jock. He would rather kick a football around than waste his time reading about the hero- don't forget the fact the fact that he is tall, dark and handsome- saving the girl beautiful and perfect. Of course - with that one perfect kiss, oh that kiss, it would be perfect and it would be full of promise.
But no, Alex wasn't like that at all. He always looked at happy couples like they were rodents that needed exterminated.
There was something about meeting his mate that made him wonder, "Maybe I can be happy like that too?", things would come into his mind like, "Would there be a feeling so that I'd know they are my mate?", "Will it be a boy or a girl?", "Will I fall in love at first sight, like everyone else?". These questions ran through his mind constantly.
However as soon as those thoughts come, they pass even quicker. Once they're gone he just becomes a lonely, arrogant jock, who everyone loves but hates.
Jay Hocera is a bullied teen that always wanted to have a feeling of love and support. He wanted to meet his mate so bad, and tomorrow is the day he gets to do just that.
He woke up like how he normally does. He gets dressed, styles his hair, and brushes his teeth. Then he begins his walk to school. When he arrives at school he opens his locker, just to have the same trash he always has to clean up every morning, fall out. He puts his books away and picks up the trash.
As he walks away from the trash, he smells something that can only be described as pine cone, and vanilla? He follows the strangely sweet smell, and his eyes lock on the one person no one expected. His newly found mate, Alex Smith.
