Chapter 5

Faith: “WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING?!” As soon as we heard that, I ripped the door open, grabbed Roses hand and we ran. We ran for hours, not slowing down until we knew we were far enough away.  "They will be looking for us soon, we better get moving," I said, as soon as we exited the grocery store.  We bought a few basic supplies for our trip to we don't know where, just out of here I guess. We bought some ready made food, some water, 2 knives, 2 scarfs and 2 beanies for the winter and afterwards we got a bus ticket so we can travel without having to spend too much of the money we need for food and water.  We walked to a bus stop and waited for a bus to arrive. We will be getting on the first bus and heading wherever it is going. That's how we are going to do things. Go to the next town or city, get a job, work for about 2 months, enough to get money to buy more food and supplies whenever needed and maybe if we are lucky we can find a super affordable place to stay.  We got onto the bus and we headed to the next town. Once we got there, Rose and I instantly went job hunting. Both of us will be working in order for us to gain more money quicker. As we were walking we saw a coffee shop that had a help wanted sign in the window.  I turned to Rose, "Best out of 3?" I asked, holding up my fist. Rose nodded and held hers up too. "Okay, Rock, Paper, Scissors, SHOOT!" I held scissors while Rose held paper. "Haha! Victory is miiinneeeeeeee!" I screamed dramatically, doing a happy dance. Rose shook her head and carried down the road to look for another place that is hiring. I walked into the little shop. It looked like your typical coffee shop with a mixture of dark and light browns on the walls, images of coffee beans as decorations on the window and on the wall. I saw a big sign above the cash register that said, "Mr Bee's Coffee Beans". I walked up to the register and asked the man that was sitting there, playing on his phone if I could please see the manager. "Sure thing, pretty lady," The guy said throwing a wink at me. "Yo! Mr Bee! There's a pretty lady looking for ya!" Just then I saw a man walk out of, what I assume, the backroom. He was average height and in his late 50's. I took a wild guess and guess that, that was Mr Bee. He looked at his employee and glared, obviously annoyed by him. He then turned to me, looked me up and down and scrunched his face a little. "How may I help you miss?" He asked, a slight southern accent dawning his voice.  "Um... I saw the help wanted sign on the window and I was wondering if you are still taking in any applicants?" I said, nervously looking down. "As a matter of fact, I am little lady, would you like a form?"  "Y-yes please, sir," I said, still looking down. "Very well, please follow me, miss." I followed him into what I thought was the backroom but then realized it was a long corridor with multiple little rooms. I followed him into a room at the end of the corridor. He gestured for me to sit down on the opposite side of the desk, so I went to sit down. "Here you are miss, just fill it in, attach your CV to it and have it back to me by Friday," he said, smiling at me. "Thank you so much, sir." "Oh, please, call me Mr Bee or Chris if you will. Sir sounds way too formal and plus it makes me sound and feel old," he said with a laugh. "Okay, si-Mr Bee," I said, nodding and getting up to leave. "See you soon miss," He said, as he walked me out the door. I crossed the road to walk into a DVD and CD renting store that I saw Rose in to see how things are going for her. As I walked in I noticed that she was talking to a woman, whom I assume to be the manager. They were laughing and seemingly getting along, so I walked around the store looking at the difference DVD's and CD's that they have to offer to give Rose the opportunity to finish up her conversation with the manager. That was until I saw something that I did not think I would ever see...
