As Maxine’s visit grew closer and closer together, Kellan was becoming a nervous wreck. I would get almost hourly calls seeking advice, mostly on stuff a guy would ask another parent. Stuff like did I think Max would like purple or pink bed sheets, or if he should serve her kid foods like nuggets or move up to more grown-up tastes.
“I don’t know if I should be flattered or offended,” I said after the one-millionth call that day.
