Chapter 4

Carys frowned “Is it so important that we have to talk at this hour?”

“Yeah” Adith replied,

Carys felt uneasy, she knew that it's not possible to hide the kids from him forever, she took a deep breath, pursed her lips and nodded “okay” let me throw the garbage and come”.

Carys did not wait for Adith to answer, she stepped into the elevator and when the door closed she started palpitating , she knew she has to be calm and sort out everything between them, she knew that Adith had a fiancée, she came to know about it when the nurses were gossiping excitedly about visiting India for Adith's wedding and phone call from Samitha confirmed that he was engaged, even though she did not promise him to be his girlfriend, her love for him was true, her heart shattered into million pieces when she thought that Adith moved on didn’t love her anymore. She felt hurt when she saw Adith's screen as ‘fiancée’, she didn’t want to cry in front of him so she walked away before he could see her cry.

Carys took a deep breath, her tenacity has made her a successful doctor and a good Mom for her kids, she didn’t need any man to support her, she was proud of herself for it. She threw the garbage into the bin and strolled around for a while to cool herself down before she entered into her condo, her cute little guys were waiting for her to read a book before they went to bed. Carys smiled and asked “My babies, which book shall we read today?” The kids yelled “Pinocchio”

Carys, read the story and finally asked her children what did they understand from the story?

When Dhruv was about to answer someone knocked the door, Carys's heart skipped a beat, she knew who it was, she opened the door for Adith, the kids were curious to know about the man in their home at this hour, they were staring at Adith with their big grey eyes which looked too adorable.

Carys closed the door behind Dhruv and she closed her eyes for few seconds to calm herself down and smiled at the kids, Dhruv and Thara meet uncle Adith, it was the first time for their Mommy to invite a man in their house, they were cautious and looked into Adith’s eyes, Thara was attracted to Adith’s smile, she felt that Adith was handsome and nice, immediately she said “ Hi uncle Adith”

Adith’s heart skipped a beat, the kids were adorable and Thara’s voice was lovely, he said “Hi Thara” and smiled at both of them. Dhruv slowly said “Hi”.

Adith just showered and wore a T shirt and tracks, he went towards the couch and sat beside them. He couldn’t take his eyes off from the kids, Carys cleared her throat and sat on the other side of the couch and said “Uncle Adith is my friend, he is working with mommy, back then we were college mates and good friends too, you’ll chat for a while, let mommy bring your milk” and walked into the kitchen.

The kids nodded and turned towards Adith, Dhruv was reluctant to speak, Thara was a talkative girl, she smiled and said “ Uncle Adith, you are handsome” Adith smiled and scooped Thara into his arms and kissed her, thank you baby you guys are too adorable” and he handed a bar of chocolate for each of them, “ Thara exclaimed “Aww, Uncle Adith you are so sweet, this is our favourite chocolate and giggled in his arms” Dhruv smiled and said “thanks uncle”.

Meanwhile Carys brought two glasses of milk for kids and a glass of juice for Adith, seeing the chocolate in the kids hands, she started palpitating, it reminded her of their good old days together, Adith would always take a bite and feed her the chocolate through his mouth, he was always romantic, she took a breath and shook her head to clear her thoughts and said “ Babies have your milk and served the milk to the kids and juice to Adith” , Thara was still wrapped in Adith’s arms, she felt happy and secure in Adith’s embrace, the kids drank the milk and placed the glass on the tray, Dhruv was staring at Adith, he too wants to sit on Adith’s lap but was reluctant to ask for it, Adith saw Dhruv and felt that except for the colour of his eyes, Dhruv was a miniature version of him, Adith couldn’t help , he scooped Dhruv with his other hand and placed him on his lap.

Carys's heart skipped a beat on seeing the kids on their daddy's lap, Adith was tall and well built, his wide frame supported the kids like a cushion, Adith kissed Dhruv and smiled at him, Dhruv blushed, he was shy boy.

Carys was ambivalent about Adith; she was happy that the kids got a chance to see their father but was sad that he was engaged and couldn’t be together.

She let the kids enjoy their father’s love for a while, the three were chatting happily, Carys watched the beauty of her three favourite people being together, she couldn’t help but take a picture of them secretly.

It was already 9.30 pm, the kids usually sleep by 9.00 so Carys told the kids “Dhruv and Thara its getting late, tomorrow you guys can spend some time with uncle, wish uncle good night and get back to your room.”
