Unexpected union

Chapter 10

I went to the room I called mine for the night. I changed into my pjs and tried to get some sleep. Key word being "try ". I was restless. How do you get some sleep when your life just took a total turn? What do you do when you just found out that you are the subject of all your bedtime stories?  Or that you are the only one who knows what happened to your parents? 

I had so many questions that I wanted answers to but I wasn't sure I wanted them . I kept turning and twisting until I heard a knock on the door. "Come in. " I said. 

"Can we talk? " Aunt said as she got into the room. "Sure. "I said. 

"How do you feel? " She asked. 

"Gee, let me see. You mean after being chased by demons? After being lied to all my life? I'm just peachy. " I said. 

"Come on, don't get like that. You know I didn't mean to. "

"Really aunt? You mean you didn't want to use a memory erasing potion on me? " I was being a b***h. I knew it but I couldn't help it. I was scared , this was all knew to me. 

"Look ,I'm sorry OK. I was scared and I panicked. I'm sorry. " she apologized. I let out a sigh, I can be angry at her even if I wanted to. "It's OK. I'm sorry too. So, all this time you were calling me princess was it because of my tittle? " I asked. 

"Partly. We called you that because we also love you. " 

"I love you too. Tell me more about dad and mom. " so she told me. Dad was the head of the Alphas, he brought order to the shifters .Mom was the head Guardian and she made sure that there was peace between shifters and humans. Turns out that there are a lot of shifter out there werewolves included .Since they were both gone those tittles fell on me . "Wait, what kid of shifter are you? " I ask since she never told me. 

"I'm a panther." she said. 

"Wow ,That's so cool. I love panthers. " I exclaimed. 

"It is pretty cool. " she said. 

"You said you didn't know what kind of shifter I am. Why is that? "

"You mom wasn't a shifter,that's why. We don't know if you got the shifter ability even though you have all the other qualities of a shifter or the Guardian powers. " 

"Oh. Wait, what Guardian powers are you talking about? "

"Well Guardians have power to control the four elements. One power per Guardian. Only the head Guardian can have more than one power  " she said. 

"Who are the leaders with mom and dad both gone? "

"Your dad's best friend and his second in command has temporary control of the pack. While your aunt is the one who leads the Guardians. 

She told more about it. Since I'm the first offspring of the first Panther and Guardian mate. No one knows what I'll become or which powers I'll possess. We talked well past midnight until she started yawning. "You must be tired. Go get some rest. "

"OK. Good night. "

"Good night. "

"Slow down. " said a little running after a boy in the forest. 

"Hurry up Rory. " he said as he ran past me. I was surprised at first until I remembered the little girl. "Come on Theo, slow down. I'm tired. " 

"Come on princess. I know you can do it, you are faster than all the pack warriors. " he said as he waited for her. She caught up with her and they walked hand in hand to the swing set. They sat down in silence for I a moment until the girl broke it. "Theo? " 

"Yes? " he said. 

"Can you promise me something? " 

"I promise."

"You don't even know what it is. "

"I don't have to. I know I'll do anything for you. "

"Can you promise me that we'll still be best friends even if we don't become mates . Even when you become the alpha of your pack and you become very busy. Promise me. " 

"I promise . But I know you'll be my mate. "

"How do you know that? "

"I asked goddess to make you my mate. "

"Really? "

"Really . " 

"I love you Theo. " she said, with so much love and affection for a five year old. 

"I love you too princess. " he said as he walked closer to her and gave her a hug. He held her as if it was their last time together. And maybe it was. 

Theo's pov :

"Theo? " 

"Yes? "

"Can you promise me something? "

"I promise. " I said, because I knew I'd so anything for her. 

"You don't even know what it is. "

"I don't have to, I know I'd do anything for you. " she gave me one of those smiles that I live for. 

"Promise me that even if we don't become mates you'll still be my best friend. That even if you become the alpha of your pack and you become very busy you'll still be my friend. "

"I promise. But I know you'll be my mate. "

"How do you know? "

"I asked the goddess to make you my mate. "

"Really? "

"Really. " 

"I love you Theo. " she said as she gave me a hug. "I love you too princess. " I said as I held her tighter. Have I know it was my last time holding her I'd have held her one second longer.  

I really miss my best friend. I can't wait for the  day I see her again. The day I claim her as my mate. The day I show the world that she is mine. To hold her in my arms again and tell  her how much I love her, how much I missed her. And promise her that I'll never let her leave me again.  Even if the goddess didn't make her mate I'd still be happy to have my best friend back. Who ever her mate turns out to be though I hope he makes her happy.
