"All Chloe wants for Christmas is to give her son a miracle. Working as a seasonal assistant at Sterling Enterprises, she hopes the extra pay will cover the rent. But her boss is Alexander Sterling the man who broke her heart on a snowy night three years ago. Alexander doesn't believe in Christmas, and he certainly doesn't know he has a son. As the snow falls and the gala approaches, Chloe must hide her secret, or risk losing her heart to the Grinch of Manhattan all over again."

The silver-Eyed stranger
The wind howled down Wall Street, carrying a biting chill that sliced right through Chloe’s thin, worn-out coat. In one hand, she gripped a soggy cardboard carrier with two lukewarm coffees; in the other, she held the small, mitten-covered hand of her three-year-old son, Leo. "Almost there, peanut," she whispered, her breath hitching in the freezing air. "Just stay quiet, okay? Like a little mouse." Leo looked up at her with wide, innocent eyes, eyes that were a startling, crystalline silver. Every time Chloe looked at him, she was reminded of the night her life changed. One snowy night, a mysterious stranger, and a connection so intense it had felt like the world was ending. She shouldn't have brought him. If the temp agency found out she was bringing a toddler to her first day at Sterling Enterprises, she’d be fired before she even signed her name. But the pipes at the cheap daycare had burst, and this job—this prestigious, high-paying holiday position was the only thing standing between them and the cold New York streets. As she stepped into the lobby of Sterling Tower, the opulence hit her like a physical weight. Gold-leafed ceilings, a Christmas tree the size of a mountain dripping in real crystal ornaments, and the cloying scent of expensive pine and old money. It was a world Chloe didn't belong in. "Can I help you?" a receptionist asked, her voice as sharp as her manicured nails. "Chloe Lane. I'm the new holiday administrative assistant for the executive floor," Chloe said, trying to stop her hands from shaking. She tucked Leo slightly behind her skirt. The receptionist eyed her scuffed boots and faded coat with clear disdain. "Floor 88. Don't be late. Mr. Sterling doesn't tolerate tardiness." Chloe hurried toward the elevators. Her heart hammered against her ribs as the gold doors slid open. Just as she was about to step inside, a group of men in charcoal suits burst out of the adjacent hallway. The man in the center was tall impossibly so with shoulders that seemed to command the very air in the room. His hair was as dark as a winter night, his jawline carved from granite. But it was his eyes that stopped Chloe’s heart. Silver. Cold. Familiar. Alexander Sterling. The man who had disappeared into the night three years ago without a word. The man who had left her a napkin with a phone number that had been washed away by the rain. The man who didn't know the little boy standing by Chloe's side was his own flesh and blood. Alexander’s gaze swept over the lobby, landing on Chloe for a split second. She froze, her grip tightening on Leo’s hand. In that moment, the glittering lobby vanished. She wasn't a struggling mother anymore; she was twenty-two again, wrapped in his arms while the snow fell outside a small hotel room. Alexander’s eyes narrowed, a flicker of something—recognition? confusion?—crossing his handsome, icy face. He paused, his expensive leather shoes clicking to a halt on the marble floor. "Alexander?" one of his associates prompted, looking confused. Alexander didn't look away from Chloe. He tracked the way she trembled, the way her eyes darted toward the child hiding behind her. "Is there a problem, Miss...?" His voice was like velvet over gravel. Deep, rich, and terrifying. "N-no, sir," Chloe stammered, ducking her head. "No problem at all." She rushed into the elevator, the doors sliding shut just as Alexander took a step toward her. As the lift shot upward, Chloe slumped against the mirrored wall, her reflection pale and ghostly. She had thought she was safe. She had thought Alexander Sterling was just a memory. But now, she was working for him. And if he found out about Leo, he wouldn't just break her heart again—with his power and wealth, he could take her son away forever.
