Haru’s Point of View Haru took the notebook to the table near his bed. He kept the book on that table and went to get a pen from his study table. He went back and sat on his bed. He opened the notebook to write the clues. He recalled the first vision he had gotten about Rin and recalled the most important clues from there. He wrote down “time”, “when cherry blossoms fall from the tree”, “car accident” and underlined them. He recalled the second vision. The most important clue from this vision was the isolated place and he wrote it down and underlined it. Then he recalled the third vision. He remembered that this was the vision that pointed towards the fact that maybe Rin did not want to actually die. Additionally, it also pointed that Rin wanted someone to save her. This was one of the most important clues as it provides him with information about Rin herself. The others were important too. However, those clues were of places and time. He closed the notebook. With only these many clues, he could not try to connect them with each other. He might find out only half of the truth. He kept the notebook in the drawer of his bedside table. Then he got inside the blanket. He worried a little about what Rin was doing at the moment. However, he was not worried much that he would be affected. He put his hands behind his arm. As he looked at the ceiling, he started getting sleepy. He was exhausted after absorbing what his mother told her and the assignment he had to complete. No sooner did he think that than he started drifting into sleep. *Several hours into his sleep* -          Haru was driving to the college. For some reason, both sides of the road were full of cherry blossom trees. They were pretty and Haru could not hold back his smile. Then suddenly, those cherry blossoms on the tree were starting to wither. However, it was withering at a slow pace. It did eventually wither and fall on the road. Then at that moment his eyes caught and followed a cherry blossom which had withered and was falling. When it finally fell, he saw a blue car which was wrecked. This time he could make it out that the woman inside the wrecked car was Rin. Suddenly, the scenario changed. He was at the isolated place below their college. At first, there was no one there. Haru turned around and looked in every direction but did not see anyone. Then he heard a laugh. When he turned around to that sound, Haru saw himself and Rin beside him. She had a big smile on her face and was laughing. Haru saw himself sticking out his tongue which made Rin laugh again. The scenario once again changed. Haru was driving. Beside him in the front seat was Rin. She was playing music. They were having fun. After driving for a while, they reached a place. Haru got out of the car and Rin did the same. He locked the car. He then asked Rin to follow him. Rin followed him to a place where she could see the whole city from above. She was smiling. Then after a while, fireworks began. – Haru woke up. This time it was not in cold sweats. He checked the time. It was nearly 6 am. It was not that he was going to forget it but he wanted to jot it down when it was clear. He opened the drawer and took out the notebook from it. He grabbed the pen and then flipped open the book. He was going to jot down the important clues. Haru instantly knew what the first scenario in the vision meant. He did not have to think hard and deduct it. He just knew it and he was glad for it. The first scenario demonstrated that Rin would eventually die but not in the designated time frame the first vision showed. He jotted the keywords from that clue. He felt better and glad that he would have more time to save her. From those two next scenarios he had seen, both of them did not have extremely important clues that would help tremendously in saving her like the first one. The first one provided clues about the time limit. The next two were about what they would do tomorrow. However, it was helping Haru to make plans and decide what to do next. The second scenario meant that he would be meeting her at the isolated place. However, he did not know about the time she would be there. He thought hard about it. After two or three minutes, he still could not think when it would be. So, he decided that he will get to the isolated place early before their classes start. If he does not meet her there in the morning, then he decided to ask her whether she will be going to the isolated place in the first class they had together. Now that was decided, he thought about the third scenario. He took Rin in his car to a place where there will be fireworks. He hurriedly grabbed his phone and searched in Google if there was any fireworks show in the city. After a quick search, he found out that there was some sort of a celebration and fireworks were part of it. It was going to be fired from the center of the city. However, from there, the fireworks will be too close and he did not want that. Instead, he searched for a place a little farther from the city where they could see the view of the whole city and the fireworks. He found a perfect place. It had a beautiful and magnificent view of the whole city both during day and night. He saw it in the photos. It was about 15 miles drive from their college. It was on the outskirts of the city. He decided that he will ask Rin to go with him when they meet. He clearly thought out the plan. It would take thirty minutes for them to reach the place. They can leave at 6:30 m and make it in time. They would need the thirty minutes that would be left for smoking and walking up the steps to the Canopy. He would ask Rin to meet him after college. Since they would have some time left until they leave, he wanted to plan out the time. He wanted to take her out to eat. So, he decided he will do that. After he was done with the planning, he checked the time. It was 6: 30 am. He had spent a little more than thirty minutes in bed writing the clues and by planning. He got up from the bed and walked towards the wardrobe. He took a new bathrobe and some clothes to change into. He then walked towards the bathroom door and opened it. He took off the clothes he was wearing and put them in the laundry basket. He turned on the shower and stepped into it. He stayed in the shower for about 10 minutes and then turned off the shower. He wore the bathrobe and walked back into his room. He got a towel from his wardrobe and dried off his hair. He also dried his face and applied the cream to it. He then changed into a fresh set of clothes. He then picked up to take the laundry basket which was full to the laundry room. As he unlocked his bedroom door and got out, his father was walking in the hallway towards the kitchen. His father was already washed up and ready. Haru looked at the clock that was in the hallway. It was 7:10 am. “Why is father ready early in the morning?” he thought. However, he did not dare ask that. Instead, he just said, “Good Morning Father.” His father looked at him and replied, “Good Morning”. Then he walked into the living room. Since the laundry room had to be accessed through the living room, he followed his father. He went into the laundry room and heard his father say, “There is an urgent meeting with a client. So I will have to go.” The washing machine was turned on, so because of the noise, he could not hear after that. After he kept the basket in the room and came out, he saw his father leaving the house. He went and took a seat near his mother on the dining table. His mother was whisking a batter. It was probably to make pancakes. He asked, “Why was father in a hurry? I did not even see him eat.” His mother looked up and replied, “Oh. He said something about a client having a flight at 10 am and that he wanted to meet your father before he left. And yes, he did not eat. He received the call at around 6: 45 am and then hurriedly freshened up. He said he did not have time for breakfast. Which is why I am making pancakes.” Haru smiled and said, “Right. Father does not like pancakes.” His mother smiled. She stood up and walked to the kitchen counter with the bowl. She kept the bowl there and walked back to where Haru was. She took a glass and poured Haru some orange juice. Haru thanked her and started sipping it. She walked back to the kitchen. After a short while, she called out to Haru and asked if he wanted bacon. Haru replied yes. After about ten minutes, his mother brought a plate and laced it in front of Haru. Haru looked at the plate, it was pancakes and bacon. He smiled and thanked his mother. Then he started eating. After he was done, he stood up to take the plate and the glass to the sink to wash it. His mother called out to him, “Haru, leave the dishes. I will do it. Instead, come here. I want to talk about something”. As soon as Haru heard it, he rinsed off his hands and walked towards his mother. She signaled him to sit near her. He went and sat down. His mother spoke, “So tell me about this person you have to save.” As soon as Haru heard that, he smiled. He then said, “So, her name is Rin and she studies in my college. She is in my module known as “English Literature” and we have talked for a while.” She then asked, “Is she beautiful?” Haru smiled again and replied, “Yes mom. She is.” His mother smiled at him. Haru remembered that he was going to ask Rin to go with her. Which meant that he will be coming home late. He asked his mother, “Mom, is it fine if I come a little late today?” His mother replied, “Why? You have some work today?” Haru nodded and replied, “I am planning to take Rin to watch the fireworks later.” His mother smiled and said, “Then it is okay dear. Have fun.” Haru checked the time and it was 8: 30 am. He went to his room to get his bag and car key. He waved goodbye to his mother and walked out of the house. He got into his car and started it. He started driving towards the isolated place. On the way, it started to drizzle a little. Then, it became to rain heavily. However, when he stopped to buy a pack of cigarettes, the rain had stopped. He thought that the weather was being unpredictable today but continued driving towards the place. Due to his vision, he knew that Rin would speak to him but he was a little worried that she would be mad that he did not show up yesterday. So, he decided that he will apologize when he meets her. Just then he reached the isolated place. He stopped the car and got out of it. He leaned on his car and was about to take out a cigarette when he heard a car coming. He looked up and knew that it was Rin. He forgot about the cigarette and waited for Rin to come out. As soon as she stopped the car and got out, Haru smiled at Rin. She smiled at him and ran towards him. No sooner did she reach, she asked, “Haru, you are fine right?” When Haru heard that, he was a little confused. He thought that she would be mad at him but she was actually worried about him. He quickly replied, “Yes Rin, I am fine. I am so sorry that I could not make it yesterday, I was free during the time you asked me in the first class. But then, something came up and I had to visit my grandfather. After I got the call, I wanted to tell you that I could not come. However, I could not find you nor did I have your number to contact you. I am sorry. Please forgive me.” At the same time, he mentally apologized to his grandfather for using him as an excuse for why he could not make it yesterday. After he was done, he continued, “Let me make it up to you? Let us meet up after class today. I want to take you somewhere. We can leave your car at the college parking and leave in mine. We will be a little late. Is that fine?” After saying this, Haru was both scared and embarrassed to look at Rin. He had never asked a woman out like this before. He calmed down and when he finally looked at her, she looked up and their eyes met. All the embarrassment was washed away but he was scared. This was because he saw tears in her eyes. Haru did not know what to say or what to do. “Should I hug her and say that I am sorry for whatever I have done?” he thought. Before he could panic more, he felt a hand at his shoulder. Rin looked at him and spoke calmly, “Haru. Thank you for inviting me. I was thinking that I might have been a burden to you. I was thinking about what to say to you or how to apologize but instead, you made me feel that I am not a burden. Thank you for that.” Then she smiled. With that smile, Haru felt like he was a cube of ice and he was melting. He had no regrets and did not care that ice melting was the end of the ice's life. Besides, he thought “You are so beautiful and cute that you could never be a burden.” He smiled at Rin and said, “No, Rin. There was no need for you to apologize. It was mainly my fault. And besides, you could never be a burden.” He watched as Rin blushed. “She is cute”, Haru thought. Then he continued, “Now before anything else, can we exchange our numbers?" and he smiled. Rin smiled and nodded. They exchanged their numbers. They then lit a cigarette each and started smoking. In between their puffs, since Haru did not want them to be in awkward silence, he asked Rin about what classes she had today. After she replied, she asked him what classes he had. After that, they talked about when they started smoking. Haru did not ask the reason because he did not want to push her into a corner. In order to not make the mood heavy, he thought about asking what her favorite color is. Rin looked a little stunned by that question. Haru did not know what to say. He debated whether he should apologize but then after about a minute, she spoke. “It used to be blue.” Haru did not say anything for a while but then said, “Blue like the color of your eyes?” Rin nodded and she looked a little lost. He hoped that he did not cross the limits with her. Since she looked lost Haru said, “The color of your eyes is pretty.” She looked like she did not believe it. She changed the topic and asked, “By the way, where will be we going later?” Haru smiled and replied, “Well, if I tell you then I would be ruining the surprise for later.” She raised her eyebrows and then did an eye roll at Haru. Haru started laughing and Rin also did the same. They laughed for a while and then when they stopped, Rin asked. "No, I mean it. Seriously where will we be going?" Haru had an idea and wanted to tease Rin a little bit. So with his fingers, Haru zipped his mouth and shook his head. Rin laughed again and asked. “Okay then. Do not tell me where we are going. But give me a hint?” He was having fun teasing her and wanted to continue for a little bit. Haru touched his chin and pretended to be thinking hard. Then he finally shook his head again. Rin smiled and then said. “Okay then. Let me propose something. I will ask some questions about that. If what I say is correct, then nod your head. If it is wrong, then shake your head. If you cannot answer because it will ruin the surprise, then stick out your tongue.” As soon as she said this, she laughed. She added, “If you are fine with this, nod your head right now.” Haru did not expect that she would join him in this fun. He was glad. So, he nodded and smiled at Rin. Rin started asking, “So I remember you saying that we will be a little late. Is the place far?” He nodded and demonstrated with his fingers which portrayed that it is a little far. Haru thought, “This is fun”. Rin said, “Okay, next question. Will we be home by 9 pm?” Haru nodded. Rin spoke, “Okay. Will we be taking the Highway?” Haru stuck out his tongue and Rin started laughing. Haru wanted her to always laugh and stay happy. Seeing this side of Rin made him overcome with happiness he could not describe. He just wanted to shield Rin from every trouble and pain. This boosted his determination and his confidence. Just then he heard her speak, “Haru this is not a question related to what we were doing but it is 9:45 am. Should not we be going now?” Haru did not know that much time had already passed. The time he spent with her seemed so less but still nodded. This made Rin laugh again. Haru noticed that she had a cigarette in her hand and said, “Let us smoke one each and go?” Rin nodded and they quickly smoked. Then they got into their respective cars. Haru followed Rin's car and drove to the college. There was a parking space near where Rin parked her car. So, Haru followed behind and parked near her car.  Then they got out of their cars and together walked towards their first class. They reached with a minute to spare. They used that minute to see where there were empty seats.  Whether it is fate, whether it is a coincidence. The seats where they usually sit was empty while all other seats were taken.
