Haru’s Point of View
- Haru found himself regaining his consciousness in a barren land with dead trees. It was not ordinary trees. Haru could make out that those trees were cherry blossoms. However, the surprising thing about it was that even though those trees were dead, the leaves were still intact. The leaves were dead and dried up. Haru stood up and started walking through the land. He could not see anything else than the barren land. He walked a lot, about an hour. Just then, he saw a silhouette of a person a little far away. As soon as he saw it, he got a feeling of enormous devastation inside him. At that moment, he knew that the silhouette belonged to Rin. He ran towards her. She was hugging her knees with her face on her knees. As he touched her shoulder, Rin turned to look towards him with tears in her eyes. Just then, Rin sank into the ground as if the ground was a quicksand. As she sank into it, her eyes looked at Haru as if she was begging him to save her. However, she didn’t call out to him nor did she reach out to him. Haru could not do anything else than watching her sink as his heart broke into a million pieces. Haru screamed at the top of his lungs and fell. –
Once again Haru woke up in cold sweats. He reached for water from his bedside table. After he drank, he picked up his phone and checked the time. It was 3:30 am. He pulled the blankets from the top of his body and slid out of his bed. However, he sat on the bed and started thinking. The vision was not exactly clear but Haru was sure of one thing. Rin was still thinking of ending her life but somewhere inside her, she had doubts about it.
Haru hoped that he can talk her out from doing it.
He was no longer sleepy anymore. He thought about what he should do. It was too early to be going out. So he just took out his laptop to start on his assignment that was not due until next week. He was worried about Rin though. He hoped Rin was not in pain. The vision sort of indicated that she might be in pain. He felt helpless and restless. He was in bed with his laptop on his lap. He set the laptop down and stood up. He walked around his room. He wanted to ease his restlessness. He fiddled with his fingers.
He decided at this moment that he needed a smoke. He went into his bathroom and turned on the shower. He set the temperature to 37 degrees Celsius. After a little while, the bathroom had enough water vapor, he lit a cigarette.
