October 2013It was around ten thirty in the morning and judging by the intensity and frequency of the contractions, it was time. Anna wasn’t sure of what to do: Marco was at work and it would take him at least half an hour to get home. On the other hand, the hospital was only about a kilometer away, so she could probably reach it by herself. When the pain subsided momentarily, she climbed the stairs carefully and went to the bedroom to pack a bag.
