Skip Class

I sat alone in biology class waiting for the bell to ring so that the teacher could come in, I was early today Jess gave me a ride today so I was already seated in the classroom waiting for my teacher that's how I like it not walking in when everyone were seated already or worst of it when the teacher is in class.

The bell rang but no one came in, which is odd because one thing about the prestigious PHA their teachers never miss a period or are ever late for a class they are always on time.

“Announcement,” a voice said over the public address system

Everyone quieted down to listen to what was to be said

“First period is going to be free Mr. Kiddman is coming for this semester's inspection today so be on your best behavior today”

Everyone cheered for the free period most people in my class did because our biology teacher always starts his class with pop quizzes

“Oh Daddy didn't tell me he was coming here today,” Nicole said with so much pride

Mr Kiddman was the owner of the school and also Nicole's father, the main reason she is untouchable. She was saying something but I wasn't interested in what she was saying. It would either be her bragging about her dad or something.

I just took out my Airpod and connected it to my phone. I looked through the window and I saw a convoy driving in all the teachers including the principal were lined in a straight line all ready to welcome him in. It would be a long two hours. The only class I had with Jess was gym class so the only time we see each other during school hours is during lunch. I just sat by myself listening to music and trying to solve some calculus equations, I tried to study at every chance I could get because unlike every other student here I wasn't privileged most of them had after-school tutors and would easily get a recommendation letter when it is time for college but for me, I have to put in extra work and take a lot of extra classes to build my resume if I want to get a chance to get into an ivy league college that has been my dream.

I was already so deep in my calculations when my textbook shut closed when I looked at who had done it, it was Nicole she was standing in front of my table at the back where I secluded myself, I didn't even notice when she came her friends Micheala and Roshelle stood side by side beside her chewing gum loudly, I guess she got bored and needed something to keep her busy so she came to me.

“Always reading but still can't seem to go higher than the third position”

Nicole was first ranking student then Mason was second, and I was the third student which was really exhausting like no matter the effort I put there was no change

“You should just give up at this point” She picked up a water bottle and poured it over my textbook

“Uh no no no please don't do that” I gasped trying to protect my book, it was a pretty expensive book I saved for a long time before I was later able to get it because someone recommended that it was a really good textbook for the SAT’s exam I couldn't let her ruin it.

Nicole and her friends laughed continuously as she emptied the remaining content of the bottle over my head because I was crotched over my book

“Aw look at her, she definitely had to save for months to get this didn't you” she let out a taunting laugh

She began to hit my head continuously with her now empty bottle and said

“This would never be a place for a worthless being like you”

My head was still crotched over my desk tears began to well up in my eyes my lips wobbled, and my chest tighten I was trying so hard to hold myself from crying but I couldn't help it as hot tears began to stream down my eyes, she say this things to me every time but I have never gotten used to it, it always gets to me.

“Aw, are you crying?” She heard my sniffles and used the bottle to hit my head one more time then Roshelle tried to raise my head with force but I didn't let her. I didn't want anyone to see me cry and everyone was just watching as Nicole tormented me.

“Putting up a fight aren't we,” Nicole said

“So cute” she added

“That's is enough cut it out,” someone said and everywhere became so quiet

For some reason, I expected it to be Mason because he came forward for me the other time

“Jakey” she whined

Jake? Does she mean like Jake Kelter I wasn't sure, I wanted to raise my head to see but I was ashamed to at the same time I just stayed the way I was

“I don't like the noise,” he said

Nicole let out a little murmur before finally saying

“Let's go” Then she and her minions walked away

“Here” Jake squatted down beside me and handed me a handkerchief

Holy cow it was actually Jake what is going on I thought to myself did he switch souls or is it a prank what is going on!!!, I took it from him and wiped my face then I raised my head and everyone was staring shocked but who would blame them? I was shocked I didn't know what was going on or how to even act. I used his handkerchief to try to dab the wetness of the book.

Luckily for me, it was just the cover page and a few pages that got affected by the water but it still hurt a lot. He collected the book and handkerchief from me and helped to dab it dry he had a serious look on his face as he concentrated intently on what he was doing, I stared at him like I had seen a ghost when he turned to me I almost melted, I looked away quickly pretending to look for something in my bag he let out a little snicker.

The bell rang indicating the time for the next period everyone stood up to go to the next class then he did another surprising thing than all he did before. He stretched out his hand towards me and said

“Do you want to skip class with me”
