chapter Fifteen

Maya woke up the next morning feeling tired she could not sleep the previous night she woke up to a nightmare every now and then accompanied with the fact that her mom is dead she still couldn't believe what has happened who is left for her to share her feelings with her dad is dead now her mom is also dead this feeling of grief has totally occupied her heart Maya was lost in thought that she did not realize she had started crying but not a sound could be heard from her she kept staring at the ceiling not looking at anything in particular but just wondering how things had eventually come to this she got up and went to the bathroom she went in front of the mirror and looked at her reflection she had dark circles underneath her eyes she then took her bath .Maya stood in the long hallway of the house she didn't know where to go for one she doesn't know her way around and she might actually get lost with how huge the house is she decided to walk down the hall she passed a series of rooms she then stopped and stood in the middle of the hallway she didn't know where she was heading to and the fact she hasn't even met anyone yet she was about turning back and going back to her room when the door to her right opened and Rachel came out looking as enthusiastic as ever " maya! good morning you look" she paused for a while

" well you don't look that good it's like you didn't get any sleep am I right"

" yeah I kept thinking about my mom I still can't get over it" Rachel drew closer to her and held her hand " it's okay Maya you are free to to feel however you like I understand how you feel but know that now you have me and jason" Maya smiled slightly " okay let's go have breakfast I am starving then we can do something to get your mind off things it might not be easy but we can try are you okay with that" " yes I do need it"

" okay then let's go have breakfast first"

they were heading to the dining room and Maya noticed that she hasn't seen Jason yet " where is Jason" " oh he is in his room getting ready for work"

"okay is he coming down for breakfast"

" why? are you eager to see him"

" what no not at all just asking"

Rachel laughed " I am just joking don't think too much about it he rarely eats breakfast so I don't know if he will come down today" they arrived at the dining room and both of them took their sit they ate breakfast while conversing well it was mostly Rachel doing the talking after breakfast they sat at the living room " so Maya what do you want to do"

" anything you want" " no let's do what you want " " well I don't really have an idea just anything would do actually"

Rachel was about to speak when the elevator sound was heard Jason walked out of the elevator into the living room he was busy typing something on his phone

" good morning Jason" " morning Rachel"

" good morning" Jason looked at Maya

" morning I will get going now"

Maya thought to herself" he Is really not going to eat breakfast" before she could say anything Rachel stopped him

" Jason me and Maya are going out later can you give us some money"

his phone rang and he picked it up while talking he reached into his pocket and gave her a card he immediately left Maya stared at her he card " a platinum card for shopping ?" " yeah I know right he could have given us the black one"

Maya stared at her in surprise Rachel turned and looked at her " what? look we might not even spend much just kidding we are going to give you a make over we need all the resources we can get "

Maya was still in shock Rachel stood up " okay let's get going we have a long day ahead of us" Maya stood up and left with Rachel " it's better than being lonely"

they went shopping first and bought so many clothes they decided to go to the spa after that they went to the saloon time went by and it was already evening time both girls got home and was feeling exhausted they decided to freshen up first by the time they were done with dinner Jason had come home and was in his room while the girls were talking in the living room " I had so much fun Maya it has been long since I had such fun"

" why? don't you have friends you go out with" " have you ever been with someone and you just know they are faking being friends with you because they want something from you that is how those friends I have are" she sighed and looked at Maya " it's tiring you know I can't even get genuine friends" Maya smiled at her

" you have me now I guess I will be of company however I can" Rachel smiled

" thank you I really enjoyed your company you would definitely get my brother out of his cold shell" " what?"

" hm nothing" Jason came into the living room he went to one of the chairs and sat down while picking up the remote and started switching channels

" good evening Jason" " evening"

Maya also greeted him " how was the outing" " it was amazing Maya and I had so much fun Jason Maya is so funny if you get to spend time with her you would really enjoy her company you should try it some time" Jason looked at her with one of his eyebrow raised the room was quiet and Maya kept thinking to herself why Rachel seems to be talking about her so much " what is wrong with her"

the room was still quiet and the only person who seemed not to be bothered by what she said is Rachel herself

Maya had to stop the awkward silence so she coughed and said " how was work was it okay" Jason went back to the news playing on the TV " yeah it was okay " Maya nodded her head " have you eaten " " not yet" " well you should you didn't eat to work this morning and I bet you didn't have a good lunch either so you should have dinner it's good to have your meals right it's healthy for you and helps you in so many ways I mean you already know this I don't know why I am telling you this but what I am saying is that you should eat at least breakfast it is one of the most important meal of the day and if you don't have time I could prepare breakfast and lunch for you anytime and i don't mind at all...."

Maya just realized she had been talking so much and they didn't even stop her she looked at Each who had a smile on her face while watching her talk so much she then look at Jason he had a neutral look on his face which just made Maya feel even more nervous " sorry"

Rachel answered her " why are you sorry there is nothing there to be sorry about it's good that you actually expressed how you felt" Maya thought " more like rant myself out" Jason stood up " I will be going to my room now tell one of the maids to bring me dinner in my room"

he left Rachel squealed " Maya I am so glad you are here" Maya smiled timidly and watched Jason leave " at least he listened" this made her smile.
