“I can’t believe you’ve finally graduated!” Mum exclaimed, pulling me in for a hug. This must have been the tenth hug in the past fifteen minutes. My mother also kept repeating that same sentence over and over again, so I gave her the same response by default. “Me neither!” I said, around a blocked throat. I had a blocked throat for two reasons. The first being that I was trying to fight tears that were threatening to surface, but I refused to cry today. I wanted to be strong. Plus, Ashley would kill me if I ruined my make-up.
