Inside the room, Lucy looked at me with eyes of contempt. “Adeline, as Lucian’s fiancée, I hate to break this to you. You’ve been my replacement all this time, and you will be abandoned.” My mind was in utter chaos. As I opened my mouth, the only thing I could force out was a weak whisper. “I’ll leave as soon as I can.” Three months ago, my pack was defeated by the famous Blue Moon Pack, and we lost our name. As the leader of the Blue Moon Pack, Lucian was a noble Alpha who was powerful and respected by many. But I, Adeline Rose, was a nobody. I was weak, and so was my wolf, Kylie. When I was little, I was separated from my older brother and taken in by another family. However, they had other motives. Not only did they force me to serve their foolish son, Locke, they also wanted me to marry him, ruining my life by forever trapping me here. I always saw Lucian’s arrival to be a blessing. I thought there was love between us, but I realized it was just my imagination… I’ve chosen to leave myself.” “I didn’t say you could leave, did I? You’ve been a marvelous toy, and you’re not going anywhere until I’ve gotten sick of you. Do you understand?” Lucy pouted, “My dear, I’m already back. Why are you still keeping this fraud around? Do you actually like her?” “Why would I like a piece of trash? You’re the only one in my heart, darling.” Lucian kissed her passionately. “If you ever find yourself in a bad mood, you can just lash out at her when I’m not around to comfort you. She was foolish enough to think that I loved her. You love torturing fools, don’t you?” After hearing that, a smile appeared on Lucy’s face. “You really do know me best. I love you so much.” Just like that, I found myself trapped inside a damp and dark dungeon. Kylie: It’s so dark here… How could Lucian be so cruel? Everything he’s done is unforgivable! Me: Kylie, I feel terrible. Even though my wolf tried her best to comfort me, I knew more pain was waiting for me. In the beginning, the prison guards only punished me to satisfy their s******c nature. When Lucy started to visit me, everything took a turn for the worse. She used burning hot metal to scar every inch of my skin. She cut my hair and threw me in a cell where cockroaches and rats thrived. Very soon, I could no longer find a decent piece of flesh on my body. Every day, I wished for my end to come. After the longest time, commotion could be heard outside the dungeon. Perhaps another pack was to fall victim to Lucian very soon. My sorry state caused the warden to lower his guard. As he was busy taking care of his injured brother, I dug through the wall that had been weakened by the nibbling of the rats and escaped. Using the night as my cover, I jumped over the brick wall surrounding the pack and ran for the forest. Growls of wild beasts could be heard everywhere around me, and I did not dare to stop. Very soon, I crossed the forest without stopping and arrived by the roaring river. Looking at the darkness behind me, I panted loudly. However, before I could appreciate the beginning of my new life, the Blue Moon warriors noticed me on their way back from the battle. Cursing, they chased me relentlessly. Exhausted, it did not take long for me to lose my footing and collapse by the bank. The warriors bashed me without showing a single bit of mercy, and I had no choice to withstand it all silently, feeling my life escape my body. As I struggled to maintain consciousness, I could taste blood in my mouth. I knew if I were to move in any way, they would not hesitate to give me the fatal blow. With that, I held my breath and had them land a few violent punches on me, hoping that I could get away by feigning death. Naturally, my plan worked. The warriors threw my body in the wild. As the night got darker and my surroundings returned to silence, I finally moved my numb fingers.
