The First Encounter
Becker's House
A ray of sunshine light up the entire room. Lara feels the heat from her toes and cover it again with the blanket. There is no sign of her to wake up. It's Saturday and she plans to sleep in as she stayed late last night.
'Lara, it's already 8. Wake up' her mother, Madison, yelling to wake her daughter up. She's flipping a pancake, preparing for breakfast.
Lara squirming inside her blanket. Reaching her phone on the bedside desk. It's only 7.45 a.m. She check her mails and all social medias. Nothing interest her. Finally Lara fully wakes up and did some stretching. That's her usual morning routines. Nothing special.
Lara tied up her hair in a bun and reach for her glasses. Usually she will wear contacts when she have to go out. But since it's Saturday, she just wear her glasses.
After wash her face, Lara walks to the kitchen and the smell of freshly cooked pancakes greets her. Her mom, Madison still making some pancakes.
'Morning maa' says Lara while munching some pancakes in her mouth.
'Where's dad?' her father seems no where to be found. Her father usually sit at the table, reading his newspaper.
'Uncle Ben asked him to go for fishing. They went out earlier'.
'What's your planned for today dear?' Madison asks and take a sit facing Lara.
'Nothing. I just want to rest as I had a long week. Maybe later Joy will drop by.'
Madison pours coffee into a cup and slide it to Lara.
'Well, I want you to come with me this morning'
'Where?' It's unusual for her mother to ask her companies. Madison always go alone or with her 'mother's club' friends.
'Remember Aunt Linda? She opens a new florist shop at the Symphony Alley and today is the opening ceremony'
Lara only nods as she agrees to go with her mom since she have nothing to do.
After a fulfilling breakfast, Lara gets ready to go out with her mom. She opens her wardrobe and scanning what she could wear to the event.
Her eyes catches a nice white mid-dress with small flowers pattern. It's being a while since she lasts wears it. She grabs the dress and getting ready.
Lara looks at herself in the mirror. With a thin layer of make up and nicely comb hair, she's satisfied. Lara doesn't like to dress up unlike other girls.
Since college, she loves to keep herself low profile. Not too visible but still make herself known. Lara was a top student in her college days and that's why people still know her.
'Lara, are you done?' Madison asked while grabbing the carkeys. Lara down the stairs and ready to go.
-----At The Garden-----
Lara walks with her mom to the shop. Lara is impress by the amount of guests for this opening ceremony. Aunt Linda really step up her marketing games.
Madison greets Linda at the entrance. They kiss each other cheek. Lara only nods her head.
'Congratulation Linda. I've heard you talk about this since our college days and now, look at you' Madison congratulates Linda. They are the BFF since their college days. Lara also knows Linda since she was a child.
'I know right. After Peter's death, I am lost. Looking for a reason to live. My nephew is the one suggesting me to open this shop. He said I should make myself busy'
Lara knows about Uncle Peter's death. During that time, her mom always visit Linda to cheer her up. Lara also heard her conditions through her mom. Lara is happy with Linda's changes.
Lara walks inside while her mom meets with her friends. She amazes with the decoration. Pastel color wall compliments the flowers perfectly. Aunt Linda also used the English Garden's theme for the decoration.
Lara's eyes catches the red roses displays at the centre of the shop. She walks to it. Her finger touches the petals slowly. It's like she being absorbed by its beauty.
'Careful to not touch the torns' a deep male voice comes from her behind. Lara flinches a bit but still keep her composure. She turns around to find a tall and lean figure standing in front of her. Her eyes looking straight into that hazel eyes.
'Did I startled you?' asked the man with his smile. Lara clearly can see two dimples forming.
Lara shakes her head. That man walks towards her, closing the gap between them.
'I'm Daniel. Aunt Linda's nephew' Daniel introduces himself.
'So you're the brain behind all this. I'm Lara' Lara's statement makes Daniel chuckles.
'But how come I never knew you before? I always meet Aunt Linda with my mom but she never told about you until just now'
Daniel bends over a little and whisper 'Because I have to keep my identity a secret because of work'
Lara freezes because she's shocked. Not sure because of the Daniel's secret or because he is too near until she can smell his cologne.
'Lara, let's head back' Madison calling for Lara.
'I have to go. It's good to know you by the way' says Lara as she walks away.
'Can I see you again? Well, never mind...' asked Daniel. He rubs his neck out of embarassment.
'If we are meant to...' says Lara and she walks out the shop.
Daniel can't hide his feelings. He thinks that he already falls in love.
'Then I'll make anything to meet you...'
