Chapter 4

"Isn't he nice?" Mila asked while looking into my eyes, full of excitement.

I sighed as I looked at her, and I don't know what to say because honestly, I'm not happy, but I should be, for her, right? Hard, isn't it? It's like you liking someone who likes somebody else.

"Hmm... why? are you going to say yes to him if I said yes?" I fired back as I looked straight into her beautiful eyes. I couldn't resist her charisma. I move closer to her as I stop like one inch away from her face, "What?" I asked her again, getting all her attention. I grinned when I saw her gulping from being nervous.

"H-Huh?" Mila quickly avoided my gaze as she moves backward, "I forgot to tell you that I need to go," She laughed fakely as Mila immediately gets her things as she ran away from me.

"Camila!" I tried to stop her, but she's already far. I shook my head in disbelief as I hit myself in the head, "Where did you get your confidence, Lauren?" I hissed in annoyance because of what I did. I scared her away.

My day went well, and I didn't know that my team was planning to go out with me to drink. Jacob walked to my spot, and when he was about to talk to me, I suddenly turned my back at him as I walked in the other direction.

"Hey!" I heard Jacob's voice. He's following me from the back.

"What do you need?" I quickly said as I turned around to face him, "I'm not in the mood to have a mocking conversation with you, Jacob." I rolled my eyes after I said those words to him. My forehead creased in confusion when he only laughed.

"What are you laughing at?" I asked him as my right brow raised in confusion.

"Nothing, you look cute with that kind of attitude," Jacob commented as he chuckled again while staring at my face. I pouted as I avoided his gaze.

"Shut up," I said, almost a whisper.

"Come on, tell me, what's the problem?" Jacob asked sincerely. I looked at him as I think about the next thing I will say.

I was about to tell him about something when someone interrupted us by putting its arm around my shoulder. I glanced at the person, and it was Mila, who's smiling at me widely.

"You two look serious and happy," Mila said, and I don't know if it's only me, but I could sense her bitterness in her voice. Could it be?

"Yeah, we're happy and serious, and then you butt in," Jacob mockingly said to Mila, which made her glared at Jacob.

"Whatever, Jacob, you s**t!" Mila hissed as she rolled her eyes at him while Jacob's only laughing at her. I shook my head in disbelief. That's why I don't like them talking because they are like cat and dog, geez!

"Stop it, you two idiots," I said, and the two of them looked at me in unison with their puppy eyes.

"I'm sorry, baby," Mila said jokingly, but it made me stop for a moment. I know that it was a joke only, but for me, it is a big deal, "Let's go! they're already calling for us outside." Mila added as she walked with me while her arm was around my shoulder, and the next thing I knew, Jacob was doing the same thing with me.

"Ugh! Your both arms are heavy!" I complained as I let out a big sigh when I can't remove their arms from me. They only chuckled as we walked together as a trio.

Damn, we'll be looking like idiots. I suddenly want to cover my face from the embarrassment while we were walking towards our workmates.

"There it is!" One of them shouted from afar, calling us out, so we can all go.

"Ms. Lauren!" One of my workmates called me, and I quickly smiled when I saw James.

"James!" I happily said, and I dared to let go from their arms and walked straight to James. I even saw the two looked at each other, but I ignored them.

"How have you been, little cutie?" James asked as he patted the top of my head while smiling like an angel. We haven't seen each other since we have different departments now.

"I'm good! How's your new department, anyway?" I curiously asked.

He chuckled as he smiled as if James' losing his eyes. He's half Chinese, that's why, "I'm good and comfortable now, thanks to you," He winked at me, which made me giggled.

"It's nothing, seriously!" I replied as I playfully hit him on his shoulder.

"Why don't we go together?" James asked, which made me looked at his car right beside him.

"Sure!" I answered. I suddenly felt something on my shoulder, and I saw Mila again, wrapping his arm around my shoulder again.

"If you'll gonna take our Lau, I'm coming with you," Mila confidently said as her chin up while looking at James seriously.

"Of course, you and Jacob can join us," James smiled at them. He's very kind ever since.

He even opened the passenger seat, and I was about to go in when Mila held my hand as we walked to the backseat instead. In the end, Jacob is the one who went to the passenger seat.

I slightly looked at our hands, which were still holding until now that we're moving. It made me smile as I looked away. It felt surreal. It's rare to happen between us.

I didn't let her noticed so that I can seize the moment with her. I like holding her soft hand. If she even let me, I want to kiss it.

I chuckled a little as I shook my head in disbelief. It is like what happens to me whenever she's around. I couldn't move and act normal while my mind is thinking only about her.
