Chapter 10

1007 Words
It was already sunrise when we arrived at the resort. I pretended that I was asleep when Mila finally woke up beside me. I wanted to laugh at how stupid I am right now. What a great pretender. I felt her hand tapping my cheeks lightly as she tries to wake me up. I still don't know how to face her. I am too embarrassed about what I reacted to when I thought she wasn't coming. "Lau, wake up, we're here," She gently whispered in my ears. I slowly opened my eyes as I saw her beautiful face in the morning. What a blessed Sunday it is! "Yeah?" I suddenly look at the window as I'm pretending that I just woke up. I heard her chuckled, and when I looked at her again, Mila shook her head in disbelief while wearing those pretty smiles. She knows because she memorized how my brain works, except for my feelings for her. "Yep, we are here," I said as I awkwardly laughed. I immediately stood up as I get my things from the top of our seats. I walked out of the bus without any words. I have no reason to smile, but the sunrise makes me smile. Whenever it's dark, I always seek sunlight. Our co-workers already went out as we all walked to the side beach area. I chuckled when I felt the sands on my feet! It's too color white, and it's adorable! I love it here. It's too peaceful and quiet. It's a good thing that I brought my sunglasses, and the heat coming from the sun wasn't too hot. I smiled when everyone's awed in unison. "Damn right! I'm glad that We came here!" Someone said from my team as he suddenly ran to the beach as he undresses in the run. We all laughed because of his silliness! What a wild man he is! I shook my head in disbelief as I watched them all going to the beach as well. I sighed. All of these kids are stubborn! They act as if they didn't come from the long trip. Now, I need to babysit them. I walked near the beach as I sat down from one of the deck chairs. Even Jacob joined them as he tried to ask me about joining them, but I refused. A moment later, someone sat another deck chair beside me. I don't need to glance at the person because I already know who it is. "Don't you want to join them? I'll look after you guys if you go," She suddenly said after a long silence between us. It was a kind offer, but I refused. "No, I'm good," I replied, still looking at my team, "You should join them, though," I added as I glanced at her, and she's already looking at me without my knowing. "I'm good too," She answered while looking directly into my eyes, "Besides, you're the only one reason I went here," She added as she quickly looked away. It made me stopped from moving because of what she said. Even if she already looked a liar in my eyes, this couldn't change the fact that she has kept her promise. "Thank you," I responded. "F-For what?" I chuckled because of her stuttering voice. She's not usually like that, and to think that she's more confident than me. What makes her act this way? I feel like she suddenly changes because of unexpected happenings. I don't know what to think about her. I always try to justify everything for her, but things don't go in that way always. If she doesn't talk, I respect that, but I won't understand. "for keeping your promise even this once," I gave her a small smile. I don't want to give her hope for something that I can't for now. Our friendship now is almost damaged, and I'm tired of always trying to fix it, and then she will crash it in the end. For years, I hide my feelings for her to keep this friendship that I treasure the most. "I-" I intently looked at her, but instead of telling more, she quickly looks away as she sighed, "I'm sorry, Lau. You that I'm always trying to make it up to you, right?" She continued, almost a whisper. "Of course, you always do," I said, giving her some slack because she deserves some. She needs me, and I could feel it, but instead, I walked away from her. A long silence embraced us again. We couldn't talk even if we want to. We both looked at the bright sky instead as I'm wondering something like, what if we weren't friends? We could have been of something. "Isn't it pretty?" She suddenly asked while still looking at the sky. It made me looked at her. I stare as I shook my head, not agreeing with what she said. "It's beautiful," I didn't realize that I was already smiling while she's looking at the other beautiful thing, and a thing that's beautiful for me is only her. She is so shining, and I know that she could be more wherever she might be, and I know that she would still shine and be beautiful in all ways. "Yeah, beautiful fits more for it," She chuckled. I looked again at my team, who's enjoying swimming at the beach. They are even playing something like throwing a ball, and it made my forehead creased in so much confusion. Where the hell did they get that ball? I'm pretty sure that Jacob robbed some kids for it. "I'm sure that Jacob robbed a kid again for that ball," Mila scoffed when she suddenly realized that Jacob's already holding a ball to play with the team. "I agreed. Jacob loves to have fun wherever he goes," I chuckled as I watched them play. "Maybe, I don't want to be your friend anymore," I suddenly said, but only a whisper when I looked at Camila. Because I want you to be mine.
