"Of course, I'm panicking," I admitted, throwing Derby a pleading look.
"Why?" She looked genuinely confused, her cup of coffee abandoned for the moment. "I mean it's only Adrian." She leaned in to whisper, even though we were currently behind closed doors in her mayoral office. "You two have essentially done all the heavy stuff that scares the crap out of most people about dating. You share a son, for crying out loud."
