Drew quietly sat down behind the piano in the room, tears still stung her eyes as she felt the emptiness of the mate bond, ripped from her. She never thought Aphrodite of all would be the cruelest, and take love from her. But it seemed that Aphrodite was more ruthless than any of the other gods. When she had returned to the room, Noah had disappeared, and she had to admit that she was a little relieved. She wasn’t sure she could adequately explain to him that the goddess of love had torn their bond apart and spat on it. Drew shifted her fingers some and played a few keys on the piano. She closed her eyes and then let her fingers move fluidly, dancing up and down, playing notes that turned into a melancholy melody. She was lost in the sad song, her fingers moving expertly up and down the keys of the piano. She had started to hum along, a soft song about love and heartbreak. “S’quite beautiful.” A voice spoke from behind Drew. She jumped, nearly falling off the piano bench. She whirled around to face the unfamiliar man who was standing just inside the open balcony doors. He was pale, had these silvery-blue eyes, blonde hair, and for some reason, she felt like she knew him. “Who are you? How’d you -” Drew started, but he cut her off. “Get in here? The balcony.” he motioned behind him, he let out a breath and stepped towards her. Drew stepped back. “I’m not going to hurt you.” He murmured softly. The hurt in his eyes was overwhelming, and it caused Drew’s stomach to knot violently. She felt guilty for being scared. “Who are you?” She repeated softly. The hurt look in his eyes only deepened when she repeated the question. He turned his head slightly, unable to look at her now. “Of course.” He murmured under his breath. He then lifted his head, so his eyes met hers. “What’s your name?” He asked, rather than answer her question. “Drew.” She responded a little quietly. He c****d his head to the side. Then he strode forward. He took a deep breath before reaching out and brushing his fingers along her jaw. Drew tensed up at the touch but relaxed as sparks invaded her skin and swarmed her blood stream. She closed her eyes and leaned into his touch, unable to help it. “I’m Caysen.” He murmured to her softly. He stepped forward again and brought his other hand up to her face. “And Drew… your real name…” Drew opened her eyes but no one was there now. She spun her head around just in time for the door to open and Noah walked in. His eyes were bloodshot, he stared at Drew, then looked at the balcony. He ran to the doors and closed them immediately, slamming them shut and locking them. “No… more balcony, you can’t leave the palace anymore.” He turned to look at Drew. His eyes seemed to have shifted some. Something wasn’t right. “Why?” She asked quietly. Noah took a few long strides before grabbing Drew by the arms. He pulled her against him and closed his eyes tightly. “That psycho Caysen is on the loose.” He murmured. “He’s the first vampire… he’ll do anything he can to kill you.” Drew’s body tensed up. Her eyes widened and she pulled back, staring up at Noah for a moment. She went to open her mouth but… she didn’t even know what to say. Caysen didn’t seem like a psycho. And he had been standing in the sunlight just now… unless that hadn’t actually happened. She reached up and rubbed her forehead. “Where were you?” Drew asked quietly. Noah sighed. “Talking to my father. He told me Caysen was awoken and on the loose, we were coming up with a plan.” Drew frowned. “And why does he want me?” She looked up at Noah now. Noah cleared his throat, as if he was trying to buy time to come up with an answer. “It’s not… important. It’s only important we keep you safe.”
