Drew had returned to her room. Her father and Uncle had refused to answer questions, and for that were put in the cells in the desolate dungeons of the palace. The rest of the pack was taken to the guest house, and the house was guarded very strictly.
Drew was tired and returned to her room without Noah, as his father requested to talk. She let out a sigh and closed the door behind her. She looked around the room and her eyes fell on a grand piano. She smiled slightly. She had asked Gal if there was a way to get one up to her room, and she was so happy Gal had managed to come through. She toed off the heels she was forced to wear to the throne room and padded over to the piano. It was white, with intricate gold baroque carvings. She smiled and settled herself down on the bench before the piano keys. She slid her fingers over the keys and let out a happy sigh.
She hadn’t been allowed to play piano in years. She had to admit, she relished that she was granted the gift to even touch this one. She hummed and carefully set her fingers into position and started to play a piece she had written and memorized.
Noah had just left the discussion with his father. They had come to the conclusion that the Green Apple Pack should be dissolved. They would have the pack members relocate to other packs, and those who did not want to were to be… temporarily detained and questioned.
He ran his hand through his messy brown hair, climbing the stairs to his and Drew’s floor. He was just about at the top step when a beautiful melody started to fill the empty hallways. Noah tilted his head some. No one had played the grand piano in the palace since his mother had passed, as it was her prized possession. He moved down the hallway, quiet as can be.
As he neared Drew’s door, he realized the music was coming from her room. The melody was soft, but almost tortured. He inhaled sharply before reaching out and placing his hand on the door knob. He was about to open it when he heard her singing.
Her voice was hypnotizing to him. He closed his eyes and leaned against the closed door, just taking in the beautiful sound of her voice. The words or whatever she was singing about, didn’t register in his head. He was too focused on how lovely her singing voice was, and how beautifully she played the piano.
Noah cracked a smile as she came to a close on the song, though kept playing a few more notes, letting it drift off. He opened the door finally to see her sitting at his mother’s piano, looking absolutely beautiful. His breath caught in his throat. He quietly stepped inside the room. She didn’t seem to notice him, as she started to play again, her fingers fluttering between keys, a new tune that was far less tortured, and sounded so beautiful… so hopeful. He quietly slipped behind her, just listening to the song.
Before long, he couldn’t bear it any more. He reached out and put his hands on her shoulders, then slid his hands down her arms, then pulled her back against him. He hummed and brushed his nose against her neck, then nuzzled into the crook.
Drew didn’t stop playing, despite his touch and hold. Noah inhaled her scent. “God you’re beautiful.” He mumbled, causing her to finally stop. Drew’s body sort of tightened up. She turned her head slightly, finally looking towards him, and he smiled. “My mate.” He murmured.
It was as if a light switch flipped. She got up, knocking the stool over. She backed away from him and threw her hands up. She had let her guard down a little too much around him lately. She hadn’t been staying true to her intent not to be second. Because she had melted into him so many times over the past twenty-four hours.
She’d put a stop to that now, though. She wouldn’t let him catch her off guard anymore. “It’s not polite to invade a girl’s room without knocking.” She snapped, not meaning to come off as harsh as she had.
This got a head c**k from Noah. He grinned slightly and then shrugged his shoulders. “I heard your siren’s song.” He responded coolly.
She had to admit, the way he said that caused shivers to run up her spine. She shifted slightly and shook her head. “Still rude.”
Noah watched Drew for a second, then he sighed. “You’re not... a second chance, Drew.” He murmured. “You are my first mate. My only -”
“NO. Don’t lie to me. Don’t bullshit me with that, Adelina was your mate - get out of my room, Noah. I don’t want to see you right now!” Drew was stubborn and bull headed, so it was unlikely that he could convince her at that moment.
