Rejection

"You liar!!!" I yelled, not believing a word that had poured out from her mouth. "It is the truth! Why then do you think he is with the doctors, huh? We've been making love. It's apparent he got tired of your dumb ass and couldn't keep up with you anymore. You were worthless to him, so he had to find someone more useful. And that was me. Now, look! His seed is blooming inside me!" My wolf took charge and, without thinking, I charged towards her across the room and landed a hard slap on her cheek. The force of the slap threw her off to the ground, but I wasn't done. I straddled her thighs and kept landing slaps on her face. The only thing that saved her were the nurses who heard her screams and rushed into the room. "You b***h!" Serena yelled in tears as the nurses pulled me off her. I yanked my arms and stared down at her, my anger blazing. I would do something even more dangerous if I stayed, so I left. I heard one of the nurses informing Eduardo on the phone as I left. I drove home in sadness and anger. As I walked in, I met mother in the living room. "Where are you coming from, Aurora?" She asked with a displeased look on her face. "Ed has been blasting my phone with calls, wondering where you were." "The hospital!" Her eyes remained as cold as ever. Pretty sure she must have noticed my sad demeanor, but it did not concern my mother-in-law. Instead, she waved her hand dismissively. "Get me a glass of water, now!" Quietly, I walked into the kitchen and filled a glass with water. I looked like someone who had been whacked by a truck. My shoulders were slumped, my eyes were red and puffy from crying, and my face was weary. It was still hard for me to believe I had lost control and attacked Serena. I was always calm and collected, no matter what was thrown my way. What was happening to me? And where was Eduardo? "Spacing out again, Aurora?" Mother asked, walking into the kitchen. "Where is the water I asked for?" She demanded, glaring daggers at me. "I'm sorry Mother, I..." "Is there anything you are good at, aside from sitting around and basking in my son's wealth? You cannot even give him a child!" She glared at me and continued. "I asked you for a glass of water, still, you couldn't even deliver it!" "I'm sorry Mother..." "For the last time, stop calling me mother! I cannot and will never be your mother!" Taking a deep breath, I lowered my head and stared at the glass of water I was holding. I still didn't know where I had gone wrong or why my mother-in-law despised me so much. If she wasn't picking a fight with me, she would be laying thousands of complaints about me. "Here is the water you requested for." I spoke calmly, choosing to ignore her words as always. I took a step closer to give her the water, but I was shoved. The glass of water was the first to slip from my hand and shatter into pieces before my butt painfully hit the ground, which resulted from the broken glasses tearing into my skin. I let out an agonizing cry. "That is where you belong, you shameless woman!" With that being said, mother turned around and exited the kitchen. I could barely hold it in. I started sobbing as blood gushed out of my hand and arm. A sharp shooting pain cramped up in my stomach and my body tensed. My face contorted in pain, my breathing became shallow, and I was sweating and all pale. I lowered my hand to my stomach and squeezed my eyes shut, trying to hold myself together through sheer force of will. I was on the verge of collapsing. What was happening to me? "Holy Mercies!" The maid yelled and rushed over to kneel beside me. "Hang in there, Ma'am... Please!" Without asking questions, she helped me up from the ground and led me out of the kitchen. She quickly grabbed the first aid kit and attended to my injury. First, she managed to pull out the broken glasses before she stopped the bleeding and bandaged my hand. She insisted on calling Eduardo or the Doctor, but I assured her I was alright. "Are you sure, Ma'am? You do not look alright!" I forced a little smile. "I am fine. Just get back to work!" Just then, the door opened and Eduardo walked into the house. The moment his eyes found me, something veered in the atmosphere. The air thickened, suffocating me with a tension that ticked like a bomb waiting to explode. Quietly, I rose to my feet, ignoring the cramps in my stomach. "You're back!" Instead of responding, he started walking towards me, his eyes fixed on my bandage. There was something about the look in his eyes that made my heartbeat seize and my skin crawl. "Who did this to you?" He asked, holding up my arm gently. When his eyes finally met mine, they softened. "It was an accident. I fell and broke a glass!" The look in his eyes changed so fast as he released my hand which dropped to her side. My wolf and I mourned his touch but didn't utter a word. He had suddenly gone silent, and I wondered what was going through his mind. ?ℎ? ??? ℎ? The thought of him being with Serena burned a hole in my chest. "So it wasn't Serena!" He uttered finally. "You were with her, weren't you? I stayed up all night trying to reach you. Don't tell me you forgot about our anniversary!" "Why did you hurt her?" He asked instead, ignoring my question or anything else I said. "How could you do such a thing, Aurora?" Because she deserved it, I thought as I stared back at him. I couldn't believe he was asking so many questions instead of apologizing for everything. He even ignored my question! "Do you even know how I feel right now, Eduardo? You..." "It is nothing compared to what she's feeling right now. How could you hurt her that way? She has always been good to you!" He paused and stared at me for a brief moment. "What came over you, Aurora?" And that was it. I couldn't take it anymore! "Don't you dare!" I gritted as my teary eyes flashed with warning. "You, Eduardo Garcia, are a shameless man. I should've known all along. I should've believed your mother, but I trusted you!" "This has nothing to do with me. You hurt someone, and you're going to do what responsible people do!" His voice was as calm as ever, quiet venom running underneath it. "You are going to apologize to Serena!" Everything went still. His words repeated in my head, ramming into my skull like bullets. The knot in my chest tightened as silent rage oozed out of my pores. How could he ask me to apologize to his mistress? "No, I won't. You can both rot in hell!" I blinked back the tears that threatened to spill and turned to walk away but he grabbed my bandaged arm. I yelped and tried to withdraw my hurting arm from his grip but couldn't. "You will do as I say, Aurora!" I glared harder at him with bloodshot eyes. "And what if I said I wanted a divorce?" He stiffened. His eyes widened with shock first and then narrowed into thin slits, brimming with fury. Without a word, he released my arm and walked away, taking the silence with him. Sobs wracked my body as I watched him leave and finally, I let the full flood of tears flow. I went into the room I shared with Eduardo and began packing my things, leaving behind everything he had bought for me. By the time I was done, mother was standing beside the door with a surprised look on her face. It took a lot from me not to hiss at her. I was sure she must have heard us arguing. I could feel her gladness from where I was. "Where are you going, Aurora? Have you finally decided to listen and move away from my son? Have you now realized you are no good for him?" Instead of replying, I zipped up my luggage and picked up my phone. I walked over to where she stood and held the phone in front of her. A moment passed, but there was no reaction from her. I had expected her to laugh at the picture displayed on the screen but instead, she furrowed her brows and looked up at me. "What is this? Where did you get it from?" "From your son!" I replied curtly, my voice hoarse from sobbing hard. Turning off the phone, I smiled. "You must be excited. You always said this would happen anyway!" "So what? You're leaving?" "Isn't that what you always wanted?" I asked in response and I could see the gleam behind her eyes. "Then what are you waiting for? Be gone, oh ye barren woman!" Without a response, I rolled out my luggage and started walking off. The last thing I needed was to get any more drama from my mother-in-law. "What's in the box? Hope you haven't stolen all of my son's money. Hey... Come back here this instant... Aurora!" *** "You can always sort this out, Mrs Garcia, divorce is not the answer!" Without a response, I picked up the pen and signed the papers. When I was done, I removed my wedding ring and dropped it on top of the paper. I had gone past the point of wondering if my decision was right or wrong. What difference would it make? Eduardo would always care more about his mistress and my mother-in-law would never stop maltreating me because I couldn't bear a child. I was so sick and tired of everything already. If this was going to give me peace, then so be it. "Thank you for processing everything in a short time. Please ensure Mr. Garcia signs them as well!" As I made my way to the door, I met Eduardo coming in. "You're going to regret this." He swore, and I stared at him dead in the eye. "I, Aurora Williams, from Redmoon pack, rejected you, Eduardo Garcia, Alpha of Black Moon pack," I rejected him venomously, and he held his chest tightly as the mate bond broke. He groaned in pain, but I couldn't care less. His eyes held fury as he accepted my rejection, "I, Eduardo Garcia, from Blackmoon Pack, accept your rejection." I walked out of the house, leaving him and everything behind.
