12 Years Later..
"Riley, get your butt out of bed! It's time for school!" A familiar voice shouted. Oh right, it was my mom.
Then it hit me - today's the first day of senior year. Once last year at Pinewood High and I can finally graduate and leave for good.
Unless for some strange reason I become a teacher that works there.
Yup, found my worst nightmare.
"Riley!" My mom shouted again, this time louder and with more anger in her tone.
I jolted up and started yawning and stretching.
"I'm up!" I shouted back.
"Pancakes are on the table!" My mom shouted.
I immediately stopped feeling tired. Pancakes, or anything edible and delicious, definitely woke me up. Maybe I should get married to food.
I got out of my bed and made it. I then started walked towards the exit of my room. I was wearing an oversized shirt, short-shorts and long, white socks. Those are my PJ's.
As I got out, I turned around to the bathroom, when I decided to check on my 7 year old brother, Caleb. I went in, to realize he was still sleeping. He was that type of person that could sleep during a storm whereas I need to hear my angry parents moaning at me to wake up to get me up.
I got out the room, gently closing the door.
"Mom, dad, amazing parents, Caleb's still asleep!" I informed them.
I went into my room, to get ready. I heard Caleb whinging, so I assumed mom or dad finally woke him up.
I started by putting on an outfit - black leggings as well as a loose white shirt which said 'Pizza Lover 4 Life.' Everything that was written in the shirt was true. I also put on some black leggings and black converse. I tied my hair into a messy-bun, since I wasn't do bothered about it.
Which I should be, since it goes up to my frigging bum.
I don't like to put a lot of makeup on, so all I did was put on some concealer, in order to cover my freckles, and I filled in my eyebrows. I put on some mascara and applied some lip gloss on.
Then, viola, Riley was ready for her first day back at Pinewood.
I climbed down the stairs and walked in the kitchen. There were indeed pancakes with syrup dripping off at the sides.
What a waste of syrup.
"Is there any for me?" Caleb asked as he came in, rubbing his eyes. His star-wars pyjamas were still on, so I'm guessing he put up quite a fight with mom and dad.
"Nope." I popped the 'p' as I cut out a bit of the heap of pancakes in front of me and started chewing it as soon as I put it into my mouth.
"Not fair." Caleb whined.
I laughed to myself. Caleb is such a cry baby.
**
After all the crucial things were done, AKA finishing my pancakes and packing my bag, I got to the door, saying bye to everyone.
"Bye, family!" I called out.
I heard muttered 'byes' in return so I took that as my cue to leave. As I locked the door, I realized another person also just left.
"Luke!" I called out.
"Lee!" He called out in response.
Lucas, or Luke as I like to call him, and I have been find friends ever since we were five. The day I met him, the day he pecked my lips, I knew I fell in love.
Yes, I'm in love with Lucas.
I've never admitted it to him because I know he doesn't. He loves me as a best friend, whereas I love him beyond that.
I've never admitted it to him because, it would be really awkward if he doesn't return my feelings. It could jeopardize our entire friendship.
Love is a very strong feeling after all.
I snapped back to reality, to see Luke in front of me.
He was so gorgeous. Even at 5 years old, from what I vaguely remember, he was attractive. He has dirty-blonde hair, enough of it to run his fingers through, as well as green eyes. His facial shape is chiseled and he has the.. body.
Working out 3 times a week does wonders for him.
Then, there was me. The girl with really long, brunette hair, brown eyes and freckles which she hated so always covered them up with concealer.
"You alright?" Luke asked.
I nodded. "Senior year. Crazy." I managed to divert my mind to something else.
He is my best friend and only my best friend.
Well, he hasn't ever friend-zoned you, or sister-zoned you, so maybe you stand a chance.
I shook my head, to get the hopeful voice out of it. He hasn't friend-zoned me because he hasn't had an opportunity to yet.
Or.. he likes you back.
Ha!
I officially hate my own brain.
"Yep." Luke popped the 'p' as he spoke.
Wait, what were we talking about again? Oh, yeah. Senior year.
I'm so whipped.
"Any girl you want to settle down with before College?" I wiggled my eyebrows.
The only girlfriend Luke's ever had wad this girl called Rebecca. She was a brunette, close to color shade I have, and quite pretty. Not to mention smart.
He 'dated' her in middle school, but broke up with her because they were going to different High Schools.
And me? I've dated the schools jock - Harvey Thomas. But that was before be became so popular. AKA, middle school.
"There is this one girl..." Luke trailed off.
My heart shattered. I know I asked him, so I didn't know why I felt like this.
Oh, that's right. 'Cause you love him, Riley.
"Kidding! The only girl I'll be spending College with is with my very own Lee." Luke tapped on my nose.
"Aye! Refrain yourself from tapping my nose, I'm wearing makeup." I gave him the deadliest glare I could make out, but he just laughed.
Well, that was rude. I was trying to be intimidating.
"Why do you hide your freckles anyway? Their cute." Luke smiled at me.
I looked down and my cheeks felt hot.
I mumbled a few sentences, which I'm guessing weren't very clear, since Luke only smirked.
"Want a ride to school?" He asked.
I nodded.
