-Riley's POV-
"Oh my gosh! Your the man! Well done! Hash-tag Penny and Leonard for life!" I screamed at the TV, chucking all the popcorn everywhere.
My phone started vibrating, so I decided to pause The Big Bang Theory and check my phone. It was my reminder for picking up Caleb. Luckily I set that alarm or I would have forgotten. Thank you science for technology you have blessed this earth with.
I decided to go upstairs and put something suitable on - since I'm pretty sure Mrs. Peters wouldn't want to see a seventeen-year-old girl in her Hello Kitty PJ's.
I decided to put on a grey tracksuit with my black trainers. I brushed my hair then put it up in a ponytail and I was ready to go.
Since Sam (Caleb's friend) only lived a couple of blocks away, it was an OK walking distance.
**
Once I arrived, I rang the doorbell and went down a few steps, waiting for an answer.
"Hello, dear. Are you here for Caleb?" Mrs. Peters asked once she answered the door.
I nodded. "Yep. Thanks for looking after him, Mrs. Peters."
"My pleasure. He's no hassle." She smiled at me before turning her back to me. "Caleb, your sister's here!" She called.
Caleb came running down the stairs. He gave me a look that a kitten would give to his or her owner (no discrimination) when they wanted a snack.
"Come on, Caleb." I told him.
He walked to me, making sure to look moody as he did so. He mumbled his goodbyes before leaving with me.
We were a few metres away from the house when Caleb started to get mad with me.
"It's not fair. I didn't even tell Sam about my transformers yet." He muttered.
I rolled my eyes. Caleb was always like that whenever he had to go back home. It's like our house is a school - boring. Where in actual fact, it's not.
Actually, I wouldn't know. I spend most of my time either at Luke's, school or I'm too busy writing songs or doing my homework to know what's going on around me.
Speaking of Luke, I wonder what he's doing right about now...
Snap out of it, Riley!
***
As soon as Caleb and I got home, Caleb immediately ran upstairs to start playing with his toys while I decided to carry on watching The Big Bang Theory - exactly where I left off.
That's when I heard my phone go off.
Anna
I looked at my phone, perplexed. I had no idea if she was saying something relatively good or something not so good.
However, if there's a majestic sea-bunny involved, I'm in.
You: What?!
I pressed send and waited for the reply. I decided to use the same punctuation Anna sent me, so it wouldn't look like I didn't know what's going on.
Anna
Anna
I mean, as much as I love fares, I'm sceptical about going. Usually if there was a fare around here, there would be poster advertising it for many months to come, but this one pops out of the blue.
...Who am I kidding? It's a fare with candyfloss and corn-dogs. Oh and games. But I'm in!
You: Yea, can u send me details tho?
About 2 minutes later, I got a reply.
Anna: Yep!
Anna sent me the details for the fare. It's next Saturday, and begins at 11 A.M. Then, it ends at 6pm - sunset.
I was really excited to go. Obviously for the games as well as the food.
Obviously.
I wonder if Luke would like to go...
It would be awesome. Me and him hanging out together (and Anna if she doesn't decide to spend her time snogging Oli the whole time) we would eat, play games and win prizes for each other; overall have an amazing, fun day.
After a while of debating between my so-in-love-with-Luke side and my logic side, I decided to ask him tomorrow, when he would already be home.
I decided to check my purse to see how much money I had - thirty dollars. That should be enough for a peplum shirt to go with a pair of jeans, right?
I smiled, before safely hiding my purse between my mattress and bed frame and then I went downstairs.
I made myself comfortable on the couch again, but I saw something in the corner of my eye which made me want to investigate this attraction further.
I went to the window and pulled back the curtain to reveal Luke getting out of his car. He just came back from skateboarding, it seemed like. He caught my eye, and I felt like I was going to die.
My heart fluttered and my stomach was doing cartwheels while my cheeks had blood rushing to them, burning them. Luke smiled, then winked at me before walking towards his house.
I fell back onto the couch, sighing.
"Riley! Can you make something to eat, please!" Caleb called out from upstairs.
I groaned and got up.
Duty calls.
