How I ended up alone

My name is Anna Drake. I am a 17-year-old Werewolf. Most people don't know about werewolves and other super-naturals. My pack is the Dark Moon Pack, located in Idaho. My mother Beth and my father James are the bata's of the pack. That means they are second in command to the Alpha. The Alpha of my pack is ruthless. Alpha Jack Jamason is feared, not respected, he rules with an iron fist. If you step out of line you get punished.

Most werewolves get their wolves at 18. It is rare for someone to get their wolf before their 18th birthday. This is where my problems started. I got my wolf and best friend, Nova, at the young age of 10. Yep, the earliest I have ever heard of anyone getting their wolf. Nova and I have spent countless nights discussing what this means, but we couldn't come up with the right answers. The only thing we have decided is that no one can know. It's possible it will put us in danger.

No one knows about Nova. My parents were with the Alpha at a meeting outside the pack when I shifted for the first time. I was home alone like every day, sitting at my desk doing homework. I got this filling in my head like it was going to explode. Scared, I tried to call out for help, but no one could hear me. I mean who was going to help when the only person in the house was in the basement? After, who knows how long the filling started to fade? Then I heard her for the first time.

Nova: Hello Anna

Anna : Whos there?

Nova: My name is Nova. I am your wolf, your other half.

Anna: No this can't be happening. I am only 10

Nova: calm down. I don't know why I woke up early, but it will be okay. We will figure this out together. Deep breaths

(breaths) Anna: OK, my breathing is calming down. What is going to happen next?

Nova: Well, we shift and become best friends.

(Laughing) Anna: Okay, but is it going to hurt?

Nova: Not going to lie, it will hurt, but we will work through the pain together. We are going to shift soon, so let's prepare. Anna undresses, so we don't rip your clothes, then get down on the floor. Just remember to breathe and to let go, giving me control.

Anna: Okay

I undressed, then got on the floor. Taking deep breathes, I forced on Nova. I could feel my bones breaking. I wanted to scream but i knew I couldn't. After sometime, it all stopped. Looking around, I could see everything clearly. I went to stand and fell over. Nova was laughing in our head. Giving Nova complete control, she was able to stand and walk around. Walking around in wolf form felt so good. My hearing, eye cite and smell was so much better than before I shifted. Nova walked up to my wall mirror.

Anna: Nova, you are so beautiful. I have never seen a wolf with midnight blue fur.

Nova: We are special. I believe we are destined for great things. I just don't know yet.

Anna: We can't tell anyone. It could put us in danger.

Nova: I agree we just have to be very careful.

Nova explained how to change back, by picturing how I look in my body. Changing back didn't hurt as badly as shifting. We talked for hours about everything and nothing at all. Now looking back, I don't know how I did it on my own. But I knew that everything happens for a reason. My parents don't know because I don't think I can trust them, the way you should be able to trust parents. My parents listen to everything the Alpha says. I want to believe it's because they don't want to be punished or something worse happens to them, but sometimes I think they are the same as the Alpha. I'm not allowed to have friends or go anywhere without their permission. School and home are the only places im aloud to go. I'm not able to train. No women are according to the Alpha and his rules, women are for having pups and taking care of their mates.

The only thing I lucked out is my family does not live in the pack house like most Bata families. My mother wanted to have her own house and my father built it. Our house is two stories. The top floor is my parents' room, and the main floor has a living room, dining room, and a kitchen. My room is at the back of the house, meant to be my father's office, but they changed it to my room when I was born. My father built a gym in the basement for when he didn't want to train with the pack or wanted to vent out his anger.

When I am home alone, which is 90% of the time, I work out in the gym. I have to be careful, I can't get caught, or I will be punished. I have seen and hard roomers with females getting whipped for trying to train. Since Nova came to me, she talks me through everything. The best part about the gym is I can shift without anyone seeing me. When I'm not at school, or in the gym, I spend the rest of my time in my room reading everything I can about all the supernaturals and our laws. My plan is to talk my parents into letting me go off to college and never come back to this dreadful pack. I highly doubt I can convince my parents of anything though. My back-up plan is to run away. I know I will become a rouge, but if that is what it takes to get away, I will.

Walking downstairs for breakfast, I heard my parents whispering. They don't know that I can hear them. Since Nova, my hearing has improved 100%. I know they are talking about me by the way they are acting. I go about making a plate of food to eat acting like I can't hear them.

(Dad and Moms conversation)

Dad: Anna is going to be mated to the future Alpha when she turns 18.

Mom: Are you sure she will agree?

Dad: She has no choice in the matter. This is what is best for her and this pack.

Mom: She won't make a good Luna. She has been kept away from everyone, and she doesn't know anyone but us. Anna doesn't talk to anyone at school.

Dad: Good she is not supposed to talk to anyone. She only needs to have strong pups for our Alpha and nothing else.

Hearing their conversation, it takes everything in me to keep Nova calm. I am not some puppet they can control anymore. On hearing this, I knew I was going to have to run. I have no other choice. I am not going to become an Alpha breeder.
