I, Leo Willinton, as the next alpha of the Black Heart pack, hereby reject Ayora Summers as my mate and Luna," Leo declared loudly. Gasps resonated throughout the hallway.
Ayora's ears were ringing. She never thought, not once in her life, that her mate would reject her. She struggled to hold back tears as she asked hoarsely, "What? I don't understand."
"There is nothing to understand, Ayora; I am rejecting you. That is my decision," Leo stated firmly, his face contorted with disgust.
Ayora was shocked to the core, never anticipating Leo's public rejection.
"Why? What have I done to deserve this treatment from you?" Ayora asked, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"You are not qualified to be my Luna, nor are you suitable to stand by my side. I am repulsed, Ayora. You should never have existed, and why would a rejected individual like you ever become my Luna? Understand your place!" Leo bellowed.
Ayora, visibly hurt by his words, suddenly felt a surge of anger. “I, Ayora Summers, accept your rejection.”. As she said those words, her brown hair turned almost black, and her brown eyes turned blue.
Suddenly, there was a strong aura around her, and the whole school began to shake. It was like they had angered Selena herself.
Amidst the pain and anger, Ayora suddenly felt her bones shattering.
Everyone watching soon realized that she was shifting. The sound of bones breaking and Ayora’s screams could be heard across the hallways. Everyone was too stunned to speak, as someone was shifting right in front of their eyes.
Shortly after, no trace of Ayora could be found; instead, a huge white wolf stood in her place. The wolf had a moon symbol on its forehead. Its size was even larger than an alpha's wolf.
The white wolf bared its fangs against Leo, and even he could not help but bow his head. It was obvious to everyone present that the wolf was of a rank higher than even the alpha’s son.
The crown parted way for the wolf and it ran into the forest with unimaginable speed.
The wolf ran for hours; it had crossed different borders and territories without end and it still kept running.
The crowd made way for the wolf as it ran into the forest with incredible speed.
Suddenly, it came to a stop, crouched down, and Ayora’s form appeared. Confused, Ayora stood up and looked around, trying to figure out where she was.
She noticed a lake nearby and decided to clean up.
Surprised, she examined her reflection. Her hair, once brown, was now almost black. Her deep brown eyes had transformed into a striking electric blue.
'Wow, I look so beautiful,' she whispered to herself.
'Who would have thought I could be this pretty? My goodness, what's happened to me?' she said in amazement.
While she was still admiring herself, a voice suddenly said, "Hello there.". "Who's there?" Ayora called out. "It's me, Gem. I'm your wolf," the voice (Gem) replied. "What?" Ayora exclaimed in shock.
"You know, it's painful to hear the surprise in your voice, especially after our very first shift. One would think you weren't expecting me. You've hurt my feelings," Gem expressed.
Ayora was utterly taken aback. She never imagined she had a wolf, nor did she expect to be communicating with hers anytime soon.
"So, you're Gem, right? Well, I'm Ayora, although you probably already know that. In case you didn't notice, we were rejected by our mate, and we are currently in the middle of nowhere. So, even though the timing of our meeting isn't ideal, it's nice to meet you, Gem. I've been looking forward to meeting you."
"Not to spoil your speech or introduction, but it's better if we communicate telepathically. If anyone saw you now, they'd think you were crazy," Gem said with a grin.
"I suppose you're right," Ayora communicated telepathically. "But I thought I didn't have a wolf?" she questioned. "Well, you do now," Gem said with a smile. "Although I hate to be the bearer of bad news, you need to start moving; we have company," Gem warned. "How do you know?" Ayora inquired as she began to walk. "Let's just say I have very sharp ears," Gem replied smugly.
"Well, Miss Sharp Ears, any clue whose territory we're in?" Ayora asked as she began to look for a place to hide. "Not really. I sensed you wanted to leave that place quickly, so I ran as far as possible," Gem apologized.
“It’s fine, Gem; at least we know we are far away from them for now. Let’s worry about our location later, after we leave, and get some food,” Ayora said to Gem.
“Good idea. I’m starving after all that run-”
A loud masculine voice rang out, interrupting the mental conversation between Gen and Ayora.
Ayora quickly climbed up the nearest tree and hid among the large branches. "Come out now and save us the trouble," another voice spoke.
From Ayora’s view, there seemed to be at least six men about twice her height. They seemed like patrol officers from their dressing but they were still terrifying. She was not a novice to border rule which stated that ‘any unidentified wolf found on a territory should be handled based on the rules of the pack’. In other words, she could be imprisoned or even killed if she was caught
"Lionel, I don’t think the person’s gonna come out even if you beg," another voice spoke up.
"John’s right, who in their right mind will come out after trespassing Lycan territory," another voice.
"We are in Lycan territory! Oh goddess help us," Gem exclaimed. "Yeah, I hope she does, 'cause as far as I’m concerned, I don’t think we can get out of here unscathed," Ayora said.
After all, everyone knew about the lycans. They were mythical creatures known for their speed, strength, and brutality. They were the most ruthless of killers, showing no mercy and being more cruel than vampires themselves.
“We could at least hear their reason for trespassing, I mean there must be a reason, right?” Lionel's voice suggested.
Deciding it was better to come out of hiding than to be caught running away, Ayora spoke up.
“I’ll come out,” she said, catching the attention of four giants who were all over 6 feet tall. Carefully climbing down the tree, she approached them.
Ayora decided that it was better for her to come out of hiding than for her to be caught running away.
“I’ll come out,” she said and four heads sharply turned in her direction. She carefully climbed down the tree and walked up to the four giants. They were all over 6 feet tall.
“Good Day, my name is Ayora. I am-”, before she could finish she was pinned by her neck against the wall.
“
“Did you think we’d listen to you, missy?” her attacker said, choking her.
“Let her go, Chris. Let's hear her out first before making conclusions,” John intervened, and she was released.
Gasping for air, Ayora explained, “I didn’t know I was in lycan territory. I apologize. I’m from the Black Heart Pack, ran away for personal reasons, and just want to safely crossover without trouble.”
“Alright then. Ayora, you’ll have to come with us to the king. He will decide what to do with you. Do you understand?” John asked sternly.
“Yes, I understand,” she replied with her head bowed.
The four men escorted her towards the car.
“Does she get to ride with us, John?” Carl inquired. “Yes, she does,” John replied calmly.
Ayora was taken to the van, and John drove off towards the castle. It was a long journey, and she struggled to stay awake. Carl noticed and leaned her head towards his arm, suggesting she rest.
Ayora was hurled into the van and John drove off. It was a long drive to the castle and she was struggling not to fall asleep all the way. Thankfully, Carl sat with her and he quickly noticed but found it amusing that a girl of her size was bold enough to speak to them without fainting. when he saw that it was becoming difficult for her to stay awake, he leaned her head towards his arm and said with a smile,” It's a long way to the castle, get some rest”.
Thank you,” she mumbled.
She woke up to someone tapping her slightly. “Wake up lady, we’re here,” Chris said with a frown.” Congratulations, you’re the first ever offender who gets to sleep during the ride,” he said with sarcasm.
“Thank you,” she said quietly.”Leave her alone Chris, stop being a bully.”Carl said as he defended her.
“Come on Ayora, let’s get you inside,” John said.“Come on Ayora, let’s get you inside,” John said.
As they entered the castle, all eyes turned to the group. The attention was not on the sinfully beautiful men but on the little maiden being escorted by them, resembling a mouse surrounded by lions.
A spectacle indeed, as everyone feared the four men.
John, the Beta of the Crystal Moon Pack, was tall with brown hair and eyes, exuding a business-like but aloof aura. Chris, the head warrior, was known for his ripped physique, blond hair, and auburn eyes. Lionel, the Gamma, shared a similar physique to Chris but was considered the kindest among them. Carl was the Delta, he was the playboy, with blond hair and blue eyes, and was the lady killer of the group.
Being led by these four men sparked curiosity among onlookers, wondering who Ayora was.
