“For you,” she whispered. “Tom… I’m so sorry for what I did to you.”
“You threw your career away, Jess.”
“It was worth it,” she answered with a tear in her eye. “For even the chance to make things right between us.”
“Well, it worked,” Tom said with a grin. Jess felt her spirits lift ever so slightly. “How’d you manage it?”
She shrugged with a sheepish smile. “It wasn’t easy. I had to work twice as hard.”
“And it’s airing? Right now?”
“Yeah,” she said. “I had to make two specials. One that my boss saw me working on – and the one that is airing now. It took me forever.”
“And you somehow convinced McCready to give you an interview.”
“That helped matters, once he agreed to it,” she admitted. “I used our whole, unedited original interview, too.”
