The other men let out low “Ohhhs,” and laughed. Haley grumbled but got to his feet and walked over to the thermostat, cranking it way up. He walked over and gave Kate a kiss, and she smiled.
“Can’t you guys hang out anywhere but the engine bay?” she asked.
“Feels like home,” he answered with a shrug.
Kate rolled her eyes, asking, “Can you help us carry this stuff to the kitchen, at least?”
Haley and Ortega grabbed the supplies and headed to the kitchen to deposit them with Kate, Carrie, and McCready’s kid in tow.
“She’s coming,” McCready told him confidently. O’Brien, knowing the card game was as good as done, decided to get up. “Where you going?”
“Gonna check on all of the pipes. See if they can handle this snow apocalypse. We’d hate to be trapped in here without any heat or water,
