When I woke up the next morning I felt ten times worse, even though I thought I slept good my body says otherwise. I've never felt like this in my entire life. I wasn't even motivated to get up out of bed. I needed to shower and I had to pee really bad.
My whole body was sore and my head was pounding like crazy. It felt as if it was being smashed between two boards. I didn't even have the lights turned on and my curtains were still closed. I slowly tried getting myself back to sleep but I was in too much pain. I finally got myself to try and slowly sit up but the room started spinning fast. Once I was fully sitting up, I sat there waiting for things to stop spinning but they weren't and the pain was too much I needed to take medicine.
Slowly picking myself up off the bed I took slow steps to the bathroom. With every move my body hurt. It was like I was hit by a truck and ran over twenty times. I was halfway to the bathroom when I started seeing black dots, and then next thing I know I was falling and everything went black.
HOPE'S P.O.V
I had just woken up and grabbed my phone to send a text to Seth. I was glad Leighton introduced me to him, he's the sweetest guy I've met and he's cute. I know I'm only 12 but hey when you see something you like you can't let it get away or so I've read in books. I was about to send him a good morning text when I heard a loud thud coming from somewhere. I got up and did my morning routine thinking that the thud was just James or my dad.
When I got out of the shower, I got dressed and headed out of my room. I wanted to check up on Leighton because she started her stronger chemo yesterday. To top things off she was already not feeling good and was weak. I knew she tried to not let it show to make us not worry, but we all see it. She's trying to be strong for everyone around.
Knocking on her door, no one answered, I thought maybe she was still sleeping. When I cracked the door open she wasn't in her bed. I opened the door wider to see if she was in the bathroom but stopped once I seen her face down on the floor in front of her bathroom door.
I went over to her and tried shaking her awake but she wasn't responding. It was starting to freak me out, she was still breathing but they were small and faint. That made me panic even more. So at the top of my lungs, I screamed.
"DAD"
The next thing I know was dad and James were running into her room. When they saw her and I explained she wasn't responding to me James got on the phone and called an ambulance. Tears were falling down my cheeks as I rocked myself back and forth. I just want her to be okay.
When the ambulance got here they loaded Leighton up and took off. Me, dad, and James loaded up ad followed behind them. I was worried about her, and I wasn't ready to lose my sister. On our way, I remembered I was supposed to go see Seth today but sent him a text instead.
Can't make it over today. Leighton's being rushed to the hospital.
It was only a couple of seconds when I got a reply back.
Seth: I hope everything is okay. I'll come to visit once you know whats going on. <3
I replied with a thank you as we were already at the hospital. When we got inside they were just now checking up on her and we're running tests so we had to wait in the waiting room. Everyone was on pins and needles hoping everything was okay. Five minutes later Jodi came and sat next to James while we waited. The minutes felt like hours before we found anything out.
As soon as the doctor came out to talk to us we were all standing waiting for him to tell us the news. He said she was very dehydrated, so they hooked her up to an IV. She also has low vitals and was put on oxygen as well as she was developing fluid around her lungs. For the fluid, they put her on antibiotics. From there we knew she would be here a while.
When we were finally allowed to go see her we went to her room and she was sleeping. She looked so pale and had a few wires on her.
I sent Seth a text letting him know what was going on. I was surprised when he asked what room she was in and that he was on his way here. He knew how much Leighton meant to me. She's all I have well except Jodi but I don't see Jodi a whole lot and were not as close as me and Leighton.
Dad, James, and Jodi all went down to get something to eat while I stayed with her. I wasn't ready to leave her side. I wasn't hungry anyway so I went and sat next to her bed and held her hand. She was so cold so I went looking around the room for more blankets to cover her up. Ten minutes later the door opened and in walked in Seth and Luca.
"How is she?" Luca asked while his eyes never left her pale figure. Every time I'm over at their house he is always asking about her, which I find is cute.
"Her vitals are low and she's dehydrated, so they have an Iv and oxygen on her as well as giving her antibiotics for the fluid developing around her lungs. The doctor said she'll be in here for a few days and will probably sleep the whole time."
Luca stayed silent as he stared at my sister. You could tell he liked her. He wasn't around her much but just by the way he looks at her you knew he cared. Although his ex-girlfriend has been around a lot more as well. Once everyone returned he tried to not make it noticeable when he'd look at her laying there but I saw it every time. It was like he had this longing to just go and wrap her up in his arms and never let go.
The rest of the night we all just sat and talked. Dad got to know Seth and Luca a little better. We were all hoping Leighton would wake up but she didn't. Everyone decided to leave around dinner time, I wanted to stay with her but I was too young and dad wouldn't let me. So with a kiss on her cheek and whispered an, I love you her ear, we left for home.
