CHAPTER 43 Mace I literally can’t believe I fell asleep. I didn’t mean to. I wasn’t even pulled over when I told Ruby I was. Kept right on driving. But then I woke up to the sound of a horn blaring, and I guess I must have crossed into the wrong lane. After getting off the phone with Ruby earlier, I told myself I’d go another five more minutes. If I didn’t find some place to buy me some Rockstars or at least a Mountain Dew or something, I’d get to sleep. Next thing I know, I’ve got those headlights in my window. That’s a way to get yourself alert when you’re low on caffeine. So then I finally found a shoulder and parked. Probably smart of me. What wasn’t smart was the way I forgot to set myself an alarm or anything. Forty-five minutes later, I’m just now waking up. How stupid can I be?
