I’m here, but I’m not here. It’s kind of trippy that way. Once I told the lady behind the desk who I was, they let me back. Had this whole long session about what I could or couldn’t do, wanted to know if I’m the closest kin, and before you know it we were talking about paperwork and insurance and junk like that.
Finally I had to tell her, “Listen lady, I’m her brother. I don’t know anything else about anything. I’m just here because I want to see my sister. Can we do that?”
And she nodded.
I guess that Mace charm can still work its magic.
You should have seen Ruby a few minutes ago, holding on to me, sobbing her eyes out. She’s a big mess. I didn’t want to tell her, but her makeup was running like crazy. Jessi would tease her endlessly if she could see.
