CHAPTER 53 Ruby stood up from her chair when Mace came back out. “You okay?” she asked. He didn’t even look at her. Just made a mad dash around the corner. She heard him heaving into a trash can before she even found where he was. “Mace?” She put her arm on his shoulder, and he jerked back at the touch. “Mace?” Tears streamed down from his eyes. He shook his head, then leaned down and retched again. A nurse in polka dots walked by and handed Ruby some paper towels. Didn’t say another word, like this sort of thing happened here all the time.
