It only took about twenty minutes to receive our vehicle, the company insisted on upgrading our four door sedan to a two door candy apple red muscle car. The male associate behind the desk insisted we would be more comfortable, thought that someone of my high caliber, should not drive anything less and they even waved the rental fees.
Wow, money really talks, or perhaps a certain sexy chick, who works for a certain airline we had just departed from, put in a good word, to the apparent car rental places. She really must have thought I was royalty, at this point.
I couldn't hold back a laugh. What she would think when a couple of swinging elderly people called her up, out of the blue, for a roll in the hay? It would be epic, well if I were into that sort of thing.
Grey turned her head, her eyes were beginning to turn red from lack of sleep, she let out soft hum. Her expression was that of irritation and lack of amusement. " What Eli, what's so funny? With everything that has gone on today, I have no f*cks left to give."
Grey was only half awake, but it was clearly evident she was pissed.
Well, the day hadn't gone as planned but s**t I'd never been on a damned flying contraption before, the freaking thing scared the hell out me.
If I hadn't been drunk, I might have done some super human bullshit, that could have not only banded us from flying for the rest of my life but also gotten a lot of innocent people hurt.
I don't kill innocents, never would, never will !
" Why do you care Grey ? You have no *f*cks left to give, remember? "
Apparently she really didn't care much, she fallen back asleep, head leaning up against the window.
Music played softly, keeping me company, as we drove through a very sleepy City. Every few yards, cars were scant.
Generally NYC was simply the busiest city, I'd ever visited.
The people were cranky and the weather unpredictable.
Other than a few taxis and of course police officers trying to keep the peace and fill their quotas, no one was out in about.
In the more sketcher sides of town, I would have expected hookers and Gigolos at every corner but maybe they got fewer business at this time a night or maybe they'd already made it back to their dingy, tiny apartment buildings.
I hadn't seen one yet, which was quite odd.
The lights of New York did not disappoint however, they were bright, welcoming, and as glorious as I remembered, although I'd only been here once.
The gps said we should arrive at our destination in a little over an hour. I wasn't in a bit of a rush but considering where we were going, I had a lot on my mind.
How could I have forgotten ?
I was nervous but yet also excited!
I mean I was headed to a place most people never thought they would ever reach, well, unless they were literally going to hell for eternity and loosing thier very soul and such...
That was well, besides the point right now, I was going to a place were nightmares really do exist, which was sort of ironic because I shouldn't exist either.
Grey shifted in her seat when the song, highway to well, you know, came on the radio. It was really fitting, given our situation and all. It was kind of hilarious in a sense.
Did Hell own the radio waves when we hit a certain area of town? That could possibly make sense considering the song before this one, was something like " Baby don't Fear me" The Reaper of course.
I was curious what song would be playing next.
A radio announcer, came on after instead.
In a shrill high pitched voice the voice hummed with the last of song before adding," Now heres a word from our sponsor. "
A southern voice then took over talking about how he was going to run for President again and to not let him down the next time with a vote. Then his voice took on a " commercial like tone".
" Have you ever had that un-fresh feeling? The kind that chaps your ass cheeks, or for you ladies out there, your lips down below?
Use my new product, iceyourass cream. It helps with that fire riding up between your thighs." There was a brief quiet hum and then the voice returned. " You know I am just f*cking with you, We don't have ice down here, for you trouble makers. Enjoy the burn boy and girls! You are welcome."
Grey looked like she was giggling in her half awake half sleep state.
We may have not been on route 66 but we were definitely not in Kansas anymore either.
I don't know what it was about this part of town but when we entered over the threshold, between this plane and another, I can't explain it but I could feel it.
This place had a heavy feeling in the air and a smell that I couldn't quite place. As I turned into the Alley way leading up the "Bar" Satan's bar, I thought for a moment my heart skipped a beat,
but my heart wasn't even beating.
Reaching over I shook Gina's shoulder. She made a soft sigh, tossing back her arms, she yawned and stretched.
" Are we there yet ? " Rubbing her eyes with the back of the palm of her hand, she twisted in her seat, pulling herself up into a more, straightened position.
She looked around becoming more awake and then fumbled with her blouse.
" We are sitting in the parking area Grey! " Her eyes widened lifting her gaze to the large building to the front of us.
" Ugh ! We certainly are! " Gina's face held an expression, that could only be described as, she'd sucked on a very sour lemon. She looked just as excited as I was, probably even more so.
We gathered up our baggage which wasn't more then a hand full and made our way to the large wooden doors of the bar.
From where I was standing, I'd say, it looked like any other " bar", I'd ever laid eyes on.
Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing seemed out of place or super creepy. It seemed like your normal mom and pop place, small building on the outside, alley way on the right side, no exit at the end, just a dark endless hole of blackness.
I'd almost wondered if that was the entrance to hell's front door but apparently not, as Grey was heading us into the bar itself.
Stopping Grey turned her head and shook it.
" Don't want to go down the alley way. It's best to stay in the light Eli. " Grey left the handle of black suit case standing in mid air and walked over to pull at my t-shirt.
" Trust me, stay away from the alley, it leads to very center of a dark endless abyss of tortured souls. They are literally suspended in a void of nothingness, never go there, or you could get lost in hell forever."
Muttering a few obscenities to myself, I just shook my head vigorously in her direction. " I'll remember that !"
Grey smiled but not in a sweet sincere kind of way, more like a sadistic, not caring sorta way. I gave her the finger and assured her if she " Accidently" leads me into the darkness she would miss my hot body and my spectacular appendage in my pants.
She grew quiet and then shrugged, " Yep you got me, I could never endanger my lovely friend. That would be a tragedy."
Blinking back a smile, she led us through a large push style hardwood door, that lead us into a dimly lit building full of cigarette smoke.
A Short very scantly dressed woman with overly large breasts welcomed us as we entered. She lifted her chin and shot us her warmest smile. Pushing past Grey she looked down at her shoes and sneered, I guess she didn't like opened toed sandals?
Ignoring Grey completely, she started to grab ahold of my arm but the very irritated woman I came in with, blocked her arm. She instead flashed us a sinister smile, her teeth were shaped like spikes, each one looked like they should be in my mouth but I only had two.
" Don't let the B*tch touch you, you can't trust anyone in this establishment, they all work for "Him", my father. The are all out to make a paycheck, and his only objective is to receive souls that he can banish into eternal damnation."
" Damnit all to hell !" Whispered The attractive but deadly creature of a woman. Tapping her spiked red stiletto, high heel, she stood there appalled.
" What the hell are you doing back? Your mother has been looking for this " Princess of Hell B*tch" for nearly 10 years. "
The demon's eyes turned into searing flames of red as she stared at Grey. Her thick long locks turning into black vipers, ready to attack.
" Puts your damn snakes away , we aren't here for trouble! Father knows we are here, you don't want to piss him off. "
Grey ignored snake lady's advances and just held her hand up in the air, third finger high and proud.
Walking past Snake b*tch, we weaved through bar stools sprawled out from here and about. Snake lady was in the middle of cleaning the bar counter as we approached.
A few tables in the way back hidden among the shadows of the bar had silhouettes of large individuals some with others, some alone.
I could taste the vulgarity, the violent intent in each of their blackened souls. Murderous vengeance threatened to bubble up from the service. I could simply and quite easily kill every single "person" in this bar and not feel one ounce of guilt. They all deserved to die!
My fist were firmly sitting at my side, my muscles clenching underneath my t-shirt. Grey must have known something was up as she turned to press her hand lightly against my chest.
" Don't, Eli, these guys here, are not Human, none of them are, you don't know what you are up against. These guys are regulars and they can and will kick your ass." I pressed my strong chest into her palm, if my heart was beating it would be pounding right now.
The "patrons" around us shifted in their seats, wood and metal slipping against wooden floors, echoed off the walls of the building.
" They can sense you, just as you can sense them, you need to calm down or we are so f*cked ! Well until the boss finds out, if they touch us, they will be F*cked." Grey emphasized on that word, and room seemed to calm. No one jumped out of the chairs, they were merely keeping watch, ready to snap in a moment's notice.
They might be able to kick my ass, but I wouldn't go down easy, my blood boiled for a good fight.
Trying to focus on what's was infront of me, Gina lead us to a large metal door at the far end of the building.
It looked like any normal door the lead out to the back alley way. The only thing different with this door was that, you had to breathe the words of "his world", know the words, and write them in blood.
Grey had evidently, been hiding this " special pen" inside her luggage. The ink was coppery red in color and not ink at all.
The smell, it was sweet and alluring, as it made my mouth water. Damn, vampire blood urges!!!
