There was a plan, Kai had said.
The part he left out?
That Tyler had made the plan, which was why they were sitting in a tiki bar, drinking Zombie cocktails from mugs shaped like Easter Island statues that weren’t much smaller than the real thing. Fake parrots perched in real palm trees, and a guy was playing a guitar beside the firepit out front, although the music was barely audible over the buzz of conversation. And there were women everywhere.
Two years had passed since Tyler’s previous breakup, which was perhaps why Zach had forgotten about his old friend’s “if you fall off the horse, get right back on again” mantra. For the same reason as he drank Bloody Marys to cure a hangover, Tyler surrounded himself with beautiful girls to take his mind off the pain.
