Chapter Two

Light filtered through and caused stabbing penetrating at my eyelids. I attempted to open my eyes and was met with an even more forceful pain and a skull-splitting headache.

What the ...

"aargh" I moaned painfully

"And Prince Charming awakes " Jerry's voice filtered and I felt revolted, I rushed to the bathroom as swiftly as I could and emptied the content into the bowl.

" C'mon Jerry, he is still hungover. Now is not the time. "

I saw Finn's outstretched hands "Need help ?"

I nodded weakly. Took it and allowed him to guide me to the sitting room and one of the sofas

" Here, will help with the hangover " Casper dumped two pills into my palm. And passed a cup of water to the next.

I mumbled a weak thank you and threw them into my mouth.

Finn held light conversation as Casper busied with cooking and Jerry perched on a chair with his phone responding when it caught his attention.

" what happened last night" I asked and I regretted it almost immediately

"And he doesn't remember " Jerry muttered taking deep breaths as if to steady himself.

"It happens Jer, before it comes crashing" Casper offered as consolation.

"You make it sound like it was a big deal. Couldn't have been that bad" I mumbled. But I knew it was a mistake because almost immediately Jasper rushed towards me like a cheetah who just saw its prey but Finn was faster. He held him down

"C'mon, now you are overreacting. "

"You just heard him. This douchebag just complicated my life and he doesn't seem to see a big deal"

"That is why we have a term called 'EXPLANATION '. Right" They both shared eye communication, Finn let go of his arms, while he adjusted his clothes. Casper eyed his food like nothing happened and I sat struggling to hide the obvious terror that seemed to engulf me.

" last night was splendid, let me see. You made out with Jess for 2 minutes with Jake right there, then you puked on her and proceeded to faint on her. So not only have you become buzz news, you have caused both Jake and Katherine to hate your guts and you have brought us down with you. Geez, Alex?"

"What,?" I managed to muster

" I would prefer you stay the hell away from me in school "

"Jerry..." Finn Cautioned

" Yea because he is going to ruin any form of social life that you managed to build"

"I agree" Casper whispered

I squinted in unbelief

" Even Casper agrees"

" Look what is the worst, that could happen? Besides, if we are truthful we kinda pushed him, and as we saw he is not a good drinker. And what if he messed up he is our friend and friends stay with friends."

" Finn..."

" those aren't your friends and you don't owe them anything "

Jerry heaved deeply

" I am truly sorry, Jerry," I said in the hope it offered some form of consolation.

He eyed me closely " I haven't forgiven you yet..." With that, he picked up his plate and left for the bedroom.

I dropped on the stool close to the kitchen. Finn patted me on the shoulder. I was thankful that Finn diffused the situation the way he did but the problem was that I didn't remember what happened that evening.

" Look what you are doing to that poor lettuce" Casper mocked concern

"I am trying hard to remember what happened. It's coming in bits."

" poor thing, you drank like a mule"

We both sat at our Faculty eatery. It wasn't my most preferred eat-out joint but it was central to Jerry and Finn. And well they hated my options. The Library and a field close to the Museum.

Aargh, I am so not drinking ever"

"You need to practice. So it doesn't repeat" Jerry offered taking a seat across while Finn settled beside me.

"Is that a joke!! Practice? I am never drinking, ever"

"I don't would be possible. So you will be undergoing training, should we use a pub or a less busy club "

I stared in disbelief at Casper.

" wouldn't it be better to get proper training so it doesn't repeat " Finn offered.

"Great advice, Finn"

"I mean, You with no social life whatsoever, got drunk and landed yourself at the buzz. Also, you got to kiss Jas. You wouldn't believe how many people are trying to get into her pants"

"How is that supposed to be of benefit to me? I couldn't care less who she is"

"you should because you just shook the beehive"

"speak of the devil" Finn whispered

I looked up to see a particular red-haired walking to our table, one that had clawed my sleep since the weekend. Like I could remember the same smirk sat on her lips. She stopped at our table.

No kidding

"Hello boys " a voice cuddled around us like a cloak.

"Jess" Jerry chuckled uneasily " to what do we owe the visit?"

She turned her piercing gaze at me. Brown eyes looked me through, all the while I acted oblivious to her stare, but I was sure the deep blush on my ear tips gave me away.

"Well, I came to the star of the buzz. Stand" She took Casper's chair not sparing him a glance. She drew the chair ridiculously closer and sat peering right into my face.

"A typical nerd with the glasses mildly built a 5'9 or '10. Averagely fit, loves to read, and keeps to himself. Dark brown hair and eyes, plump lips... " Her eyes fluttered to them before looking up. I felt uncomfortable in my pants for a minute "Then the headline "The nerd who broke the olaygirl' You have some guts, I will give you that. I have a reputation, I should probably make your stay here miserable but..."

I looked into her face, she studied me before a mischievous grin pulled up on her face " I find you cute and I wonder how you will be in bed"

My face lit on fire, as my eyes widened like saucers. By the side, Casper choked on his drink. She laughed at our reaction, enjoying it.

I closed my eyes

Conflicted emotions swirled in my head, embarrassment, longing, anger, surprise. Speak of boldness

I scoffed as I tried to regain composure.

"you have the wrong guy. I am ..." I stuttered sheepishly

"That was not what you said when you kissed me in the bar"

"i...i.i... That was alcohol influence. I was, um, knocked out"

She looked at me as if trying to bring out something that was hidden behind the door of my eyes. She pulled even closer her nose merely inches from mine

"Should we" she dragged her eyes from my lips to look at me" We put that to the test"

I gulped feeling heat rise to different places as my heart tripled it's beating.

" Jess, this is a lot of s****l tension right now and dear I'll Alex is..." Jerry tried saving the situation.

"not interested" I mustered "I can't deny that you are beautiful or that I am attracted to you, but Really, I advise you don't go around messing with people's feelings. It doesn't make any sense. It shows clearly to your love, s*x is just a game and that game is one I am not willing to play with you"

She scoffed "What makes you think you did not play with my feelings "

"I did not... That is beside the point..."

"Or isn't that what you wanted, a little experiment, huh? With the notorious playgirl. A little attention or Fun... Well yes, I play that game. You are not my kind of sport but for you, I am willing to make the exception "

"Maybe, for that night, yes. But not now or ever. Just like you said I am not your type, so you shouldn't bother with someone like me."

"Not everyone wants to get into your pants."

"Probably why you are single? I don't think I need advice from anyone-especially a stuck-up nerd"

" interesting, you're right I am stuck up and I really wouldn't want to do anything with a spoilt princess"

" oh really, it is good to know that is how both see each other . In that, I can assure you that if I should see you anywhere in school, I promise to make that day insufferable". She smiled a too sweetly " Hope not to see you, Alex"

She stood up " Jerry, Finn " she walked away not without throwing a dirty look at me.

" What just happened" Casper still in shock.

"I don't know"
