Bonded by Thorns and Crown
### * TITLE: "Bonded by Thorns and Crown"*
### *CHAPTER 1: "The Devil’s Offer"*
The moon over Salem, Massachusetts was a blade in the sky that night.
Lisa Carter had been warned her whole life to stay away from Blackthorn Manor. The town said it was cursed. That the roses there grew black, and the crown in the east wing drank souls.
She didn’t believe in ghost stories. She believed in overdue bills. In her little sister’s chemo. In the $200,000 debt that was going to cost her sister her treatment by Friday.
So when the envelope showed up on her windshield — no stamp, no name. Just black wax and thorns pressed into it.
_Come to Blackthorn Manor. Midnight. One choice. The crown will save her._
— she went.
The wrought-iron gates screeched open on their own. Fog curled around her ankles. Dead roses lined the path, and every single one had thorns as long as her fingers.
In the center of the ruined courtyard, on a pedestal of cracked marble, sat a crown.
Not gold.
Black iron. And around it, living thorns that twisted like they were breathing.
A voice came from the dark. Smooth. Cold. Like velvet over a knife.
"You want to save your sister, Lisa? Then be bonded to me. Wear the crown for one year. Be my queen. And I will pay every penny of her debt."
Lisa’s breath caught. "And if I say no?"
"Then the treatment stops at dawn. And the thorns get you instead."
The black roses shuddered. The thorns crept forward across the stone toward her shoes.
She had until sunrise to decide.

### *CHAPTER 2: "Queen of Thorns"*
_Bonded by Thorns and Crown_
Sunrise was 43 minutes away.
The thorns were at her ankles now. Cold. Scratching at her skin through her jeans.
Lisa looked at the black iron crown. Then she thought of Maya. Pale in that hospital bed. Tubes in her arms. The doctor’s voice: _“Without the next payment, we stop treatment Friday.”_
She couldn’t let her sister die.
“Fine,” Lisa whispered. “I’ll do it.”
The moment her fingers touched the crown, the thorns stopped moving.
Pain shot up her arms like ice and fire. The black metal was heavier than it looked. It sank into her hair, and the thorns wrapped around her temples — not cutting, but _binding_.
The world went black.
When Lisa opened her eyes, she wasn’t in the courtyard anymore.
She was in a ballroom.
Everything was black and gold. Candles with no flame burned cold. The windows were tall and stained with scenes of kings and blood. And at the end of the room, on a throne made of twisted thorns and bone, sat him.
The dark king.
He was tall. Too tall. Dressed all in black, with a coat that looked like shadows. His hair was dark, his jaw sharp. But his eyes… his eyes were gold. Like molten metal. And they were staring right at her crown.
At her.
“So,” he said. His voice was the same one from the dark. Smooth. Amused. Dangerous. “You chose her.”
Lisa swallowed. The crown felt like it was part of her skull now. “Where am I? Where’s the money for my sister?”
He stood. Slow. Like a predator. Every step he took, the candles burned brighter.
“You’re in Blackthorn Manor, Lisa Carter. And you are mine for one year.”
He stopped in front of her. Close enough that she could smell winter and roses and something darker.
He reached out and tilted her chin up with one cold finger.
“The money is already in your account. Check your phone.”
Her hands shook as she pulled it out. 3 new alerts.
*$200,000 deposited.*
Lisa’s knees almost gave out. “Why me? Why this?”
The king smiled. But it didn’t reach his gold eyes.
“Because the crown chooses. And it chose you.”
His thumb brushed over a black thorn at her temple. It didn’t hurt.
“Welcome to your cage, Queen.”
Outside, the sun started to rise.

### *CHAPTER 3: "The Rules of the Manor"*
_Bonded by Thorns and Crown_
The gold in his eyes didn’t blink.
“Rules,” the king said. One word. Final.
Lisa’s throat was dry. The crown was still warm on her head, like it had a pulse. “What rules?”
He circled her. Slow. His black coat didn’t make a sound on the marble.
“Rule one.” He stopped behind her. She felt his breath at her ear, cold.
“You wear the crown. At all times. Day and night. In my sight, out of my sight. It doesn’t come off.”
Lisa’s fingers twitched. “And if I take it off?”
“Then the thorns take you instead.” His voice dropped lower. “They’ll go through your skin to get back to me.”
She shivered. Rule two.
“You don’t leave Blackthorn Manor. Not without me.” A pause. “Not without permission.”
“I’m not a prisoner,” Lisa snapped, then immediately regretted it.
He laughed. Soft. Dangerous.
“You’re not a prisoner, Lisa.” His hand came down on the throne beside her head. Trapping her. “You’re my queen. And queens don’t run.”
Her heart was pounding. The $200,000 in her account felt like chains. For Maya. She couldn’t run.
“What else?” she whispered.
“Rule three.” His finger lifted a strand of her hair, brushing it away from the thorn at her temple. His touch was freezing.
“You answer when I call. You eat when I say. You sleep where I tell you.”
He leaned in. Close enough that she could see flecks of black in his gold eyes.
“And you will learn to say _‘yes, your majesty’_.”
Lisa glared up at him. “Make me.”
The smile that curved his mouth was slow. Deadly.
“Oh, I will.”
He stepped back and snapped his fingers. The ballroom doors opened. Two servants in black stood there, heads bowed.
“Take her to the east wing. She bleeds. See to it.”
Lisa touched her temple. Her fingers came away red. The thorn had pricked her.
As the servants led her away, his voice followed her.
“Dinner is at 8, Lisa. Don’t be late. Queens who are late… are punished.”
The doors closed.
And the crown tightened.
---
### * CHAPTER 4: "Dinner With The Devil"*
---
The east wing smelled like roses and blood.
A maid dabbed at Lisa’s temple with a cold cloth. The cut was tiny. But the crown pulsed every time she breathed.
“Don’t,” Lisa whispered. “It’s fine.”
The maid didn’t look up. “His majesty said to see to it.”
8pm.
Lisa stood in front of a mirror that was taller than her. Black dress. Long sleeves. The crown sat heavy on her head, black metal and thorns catching the candlelight. She looked like a queen. She felt like a sacrifice.
The dining room was huge. One long table. One chair at the head. And him.
The dark king was already seated. No coat now. Just black shirt, sleeves rolled up. Gold eyes on her the second she walked in.
“You’re late,” he said. No anger. Just fact.
“By 30 seconds,” Lisa shot back. Then remembered: _Queens who are late… are punished._
He tilted his head. “Sit.”
She did. Servants poured wine that was too dark to be wine.
They ate in silence for 5 minutes. The only sound was silver on china.
“You checked the money?” he asked finally.
“For my sister? Yes.” Lisa’s voice was steady. “Thank you.”
“You don’t thank me, Lisa.” He cut his steak slowly. “You obey me.”
She gripped her fork. “Then why give me rules? If I’m just property.”
“Property doesn’t talk back.” His eyes lifted to hers. “Property doesn’t wear my crown.”
He stood and walked around the table to her. Stopped behind her chair.
His hand came down on the back of it. Caging her in.
“Rule four,” he murmured in her ear. “At dinner, you look at me. Not your plate. Not the door. Me.”
Lisa forced herself to turn. Their faces were inches apart.
“Why?” she asked. Breathless.
“Because I want to see if you’re afraid of me.” His thumb brushed her bottom lip. Cold. “And I want to see the moment you stop being afraid.”
The crown burned.
“Dessert,” he said, pulling back. “Come.”
He led her out. Not to a kitchen. To a library. Floor to ceiling books. A fireplace with no fire. And in the center, a chaise lounge made of black velvet.
“Sit,” he commanded.
Lisa sat.
He stood over her. “Rule five. When I tell you to stay, you stay. When I tell you to kneel, you kneel.”
Lisa’s pulse roared. “And if I don’t?”
“Then I remind you who owns the crown.” His hand hovered over it. Not touching. “And who owns you.”
The air got thick. Dangerous. Sweet.
“Your majesty,” Lisa heard herself say. The words tasted like ash and honey.
His gold eyes darkened. “Good girl.”

### *CHAPTER 5: "Punishment"*
_Bonded by Thorns and Crown_
The library doors closed behind them.
Click.
Lisa’s heart jumped into her throat. “Your majesty, I—”
“Don’t.” His voice cut through the dark. Cold. Final.
He walked to the fireplace. No fire. Just black stone. He leaned one hand against it and looked at her over his shoulder. Gold eyes burning.
“You were 30 seconds late.”
“You talked back at dinner.”
“And you said my name without permission.”
Lisa swallowed. The crown pulsed on her head, tighter. “What’s the punishment?”
He didn’t answer. He just held out his hand. Palm up. An order.
Lisa stared at it. Her pride screamed _no_. Her fear of losing Maya screamed _yes_.
Slowly, she crossed the room. The black dress whispered around her ankles. She stopped in front of him. Close enough to smell winter and roses on him.
“Your hand,” he said softly.
She placed her hand in his. His fingers were ice. He didn’t hold it. He turned it over, studying her palm like it belonged to him.
“Do you know what happens to queens who disobey?” he murmured.
Lisa shook her head.
“The crown reminds them.” His other hand came up. He didn’t touch her. He hovered one finger over the thorn at her temple. Not pressing. Just there.
Pain shot through her skull. Not sharp. Deep. Like the crown was testing her.
Lisa gasped. “It hurts—”
“Shh.” His thumb brushed under her eye, catching nothing. “This is mercy, Lisa. The alternative is worse.”
The pain stopped. The crown loosened a fraction.
“Rule six,” he whispered. His breath ghosted over her lips. “When you’re punished, you don’t cry. You don’t beg. You take it. Like a queen.”
Tears pricked her eyes anyway. She blinked them back hard.
“Good girl,” he said. And the word did something to her stomach.
He stepped back. The loss of his warmth made her cold.
“On your knees.”
Lisa froze. “What?”
“On. Your. Knees.” Each word was steel.
She sank down. The marble was freezing through the dress. Her crown felt like it weighed 100 pounds.
The king crouched in front of her. So they were eye level. He reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, careful of the thorns.
“Last part of your punishment,” he said quietly. Almost gentle. “Say it.”
Lisa’s throat closed. “Say what?”
“What I told you to say at dinner.” His gold eyes didn’t blink. “Say it, Lisa.”
Her pride shattered. For Maya. For the $200,000. For her life.
Her voice came out small. Broken. But clear.
“Yes. Your. Majesty.”
Something flashed in his eyes. Satisfaction. Hunger.
He stood and offered her his hand again. This time to help her up.
“When you wear my crown,” he said, pulling her to her feet, “you learn that obedience tastes better than defiance.”
His mouth was at her ear.
“And next time you’re late… the punishment will be worse.”
He let her go and walked to the door.
“Bed. Now. Alone. Think about rule six.”
The door opened. Then closed.
Lisa was left shaking. The crown was quiet now. Almost… pleased.

### *CHAPTER 6: "The Garden of Thorns"*
_Bonded by Thorns and Crown_
“Follow me.”
The king didn’t look back to see if she obeyed. He just walked.
Lisa had no choice. The crown tugged her forward, like it was on a leash.
They left the manor through doors that were twice her height. Outside, the air was cold. Midnight. The moon was full and it painted everything silver and black.
The garden was massive.
But nothing grew. No flowers. No grass. Only thorns.
Towers of black vines twisted into arches. Rose bushes with blades instead of petals. Trees with bark like claws. And everywhere, the ground was covered in a thin layer of frost that never melted.
“Welcome to my home,” the king said. His voice echoed. “This is where the crown was born.”
Lisa hugged herself. “It’s dead.”
“It’s waiting.” He stopped in front of a fountain. The water was frozen mid-splash. “Like you.”
The crown on her head started to burn. Not pain. Heat.
A vine at her feet twitched. Then another.
Lisa froze. “What’s it doing?”
“Testing you.” The king watched her, arms crossed. “The crown chose you. Now the garden will.”
The vines crawled up her boots. Slow. Curious. They didn’t cut. They coiled. One wrapped around her wrist, light as a bracelet. Cold.
Lisa’s breath hitched. “Get it off—”
“Don’t move.” His command was sharp. “If you fight it, it thinks you’re prey.”
The vine at her wrist tightened. Then loosened. Then... it brushed her skin. Gentle.
Another vine reached for her crown. It touched a black thorn. The whole garden shuddered.
And suddenly Lisa _saw_.
Flash.
A boy with gold eyes, screaming as a crown was forced onto his head.
Flash.
Blood on marble. A throne made of bones.
Flash.
The same boy, now a man, alone in this garden for 300 years.
Lisa stumbled back with a gasp. “You—”
The vines dropped from her instantly. Like they were scared.
The king was in front of her in one step. His hands caught her arms. “What did you see?”
Lisa looked up at him. Her heart was pounding. “That was you. In the memories. You were... hurt.”
His jaw clenched. For a second, the mask cracked. Pain. Rage. Loneliness.
Then it was gone.
“The crown shows you what it wants you to see,” he said flatly. He let her go. “Come.”
“Wait.” Lisa grabbed his sleeve before she could think. “Does it hurt? Still?”
He looked down at her hand on him. Then at her face.
For a long moment, he said nothing.
Finally: “Yes.”
One word. Raw.
He pulled away and kept walking.
The vines parted for him. And for her.
Behind them, a single black rose bloomed. Petals like knives.
The crown went quiet.

### *CHAPTER 7: "Don’t Touch My Sister"*
_Bonded by Thorns and Crown_
Lisa’s phone buzzed at 2am.
She was in the east wing bedroom. The crown sat on the nightstand. She’d tried to take it off. The thorns dug into her scalp until she put it back.
The screen lit up.
*MAYA*
Lisa lunged for it. “Maya? Maya is that you? Are you okay—”
A voice that was NOT Maya’s cut her off.
“Hello, Lisa.”
The world stopped.
The dark king.
Lisa’s blood went cold. “Give me the phone. Now.”
“I didn’t know she had your number,” he said. Calm. Amused. Like they were talking about tea. “She’s been calling for 6 minutes.”
“Put her on. Put her ON.” Lisa was already running down the hall. Barefoot. Dress still on from dinner.
“Shh.” She could hear him smile. “She’s asleep. The hospital gave her something. She’s safe. Because of me.”
Lisa slammed into his study. He was there, in black, lounging in a chair with her phone in his hand. The fireplace had no fire. Just like everything in this place.
“Give it to me,” she hissed.
He held it up, out of reach. “First, we talk about boundaries, Queen.”
“Don’t call her that.”
“I’ll call her whatever I want.” His gold eyes were dark. “She’s the reason you’re here. The reason you wear my crown. The reason I paid $200,000.”
Lisa’s hands shook. “If you hurt her—”
“I won’t.” He said it simply. Final. “But others might. The hospital has debts. Collectors. Vultures.”
He stood. Walked to her. “Unless they know she’s under my protection.”
Lisa stared at him. “What are you saying?”
“I’m saying,” he brought the phone to his ear, “that your sister needs to hear from _me_.”
He answered the next call. Speaker.
“Hello?” A nurse’s voice. Tired. “Is this Lisa Carter? About Miss Maya’s bill—”
The king’s voice dropped. Low. Ancient. Deadly.
“This is the man who paid it. In full.
If anyone touches Maya Carter. If anyone so much as looks at her wrong. If her treatment stops for one second...
I will come. And I will take more than money.”
Silence.
Then: “Y-yes sir. Understood sir. She’s... she’s on the best floor. 24 hour care. No visitors without your approval.”
“Good.” He hung up.
Lisa was shaking. Not from fear. From relief. From rage.
“You used her,” she whispered.
“I saved her,” he corrected. He set the phone on his desk. “You’re welcome.”
Lisa stepped closer. The crown burned. “Don’t ever answer my phone again.”
He tilted his head. “Or what?”
“Or I’ll—”
“You’ll what?” He was in her space now. Towering. “Punish me? The last time you disobeyed, you were on your knees saying _yes, your majesty_.”
Lisa’s face burned. “That was different.”
“Was it?” His finger lifted her chin. “Because to me, it looked like you learned.”
The phone buzzed again. Maya.
This time he handed it to her. Without a word.
Lisa answered with trembling hands. “Maya? Baby, it’s me—”
“Lisa??” Maya sounded sleepy but okay. “Who was that man?? He sounded scary.”
Lisa looked at the king. He was watching her.
“He’s... my boss,” Lisa said. “He’s helping us.”
There was a pause. “Okay. I love you, Lis. Come visit soon?”
“I will.” Lisa’s voice broke. “I love you too.”
She hung up.
The room was silent.
“Thank you,” Lisa said quietly. She hated saying it.
The king just nodded once. “Bed. Now.”
He turned away. “And Lisa? Next time your sister calls... I’m answering again.”
The door closed behind him.
Lisa clutched the phone. The crown pulsed. Almost like it was laughing.

### *CHAPTER 8: "The Storm and the Crown"*
_Bonded by Thorns and Crown_
The storm hit at midnight.
Lisa was asleep when the first thunder cracked. The whole manor shook.
The crown on her head went ice cold. Then hot. Then cold again.
A servant banged on her door. “Miss! His majesty’s orders! The east wing is flooding! Come to the west wing. Now!”
Lisa grabbed her robe and ran.
Lightning lit the halls. Black water was already seeping under doors. The thorns in the garden were slamming against the windows like fists.
She reached the west wing. His room.
The door was open.
The king stood by the window, shirtless. Rain from a broken pane was hitting his back. He didn’t flinch. Black pants. Bare feet. Gold eyes glowing in the dark.
“You,” he said without turning. “Close the door.”
Lisa did. Her heart was pounding. “The east wing—”
“Is underwater.” He finally looked at her. “You’ll stay here until morning.”
Lisa stared at the room. One bed. Huge. Black sheets. Four posts. And that was it.
No couch. No other bed.
“I’m not—”
“Sharing with me?” He walked to the bed and sat on the edge. Water dripped from his hair. “You wear my crown, Lisa. That makes this my room. My rules.”
Lightning flashed. The crown burned.
“Fine,” Lisa muttered. She kept as much distance as possible and sat on the very edge of the bed.
The room went quiet except for the storm.
After 10 minutes, he spoke. “You’re shaking.”
“I’m cold.”
He sighed. Annoyed. Like she was a problem he had to solve.
He stood, walked to a closet, and pulled out a thick black blanket. He threw it at her. It landed in her lap.
“Cover yourself.”
Lisa wrapped it around her shoulders. It smelled like him. Winter and roses and something darker.
Another crash of thunder. The lights flickered and died.
Darkness.
Only the moon through the broken window.
Lisa jumped when his hand came down on the bed next to her. Not touching her. Just there.
“The crown is reacting to the storm,” he said quietly. “It’s old magic. It gets... restless.”
Lisa felt it. The thorns at her temples were pulsing. In time with her heartbeat.
“Will it hurt me?”
“No.” A pause. “Not unless I let it.”
Lisa turned to look at him. In the dark, his gold eyes were the only light.
“Why are you protecting me?”
He didn’t answer for a long time.
“Because the crown chose you,” he said finally. “And what the crown chooses... I keep.”
The bed dipped as he lay down. On his side. Facing away from her. Leaving half the bed between them.
“Go to sleep, Lisa.”
Lisa lay down too. Stiff. The blanket between them like a wall.
The storm raged outside.
Inside, the crown slowly cooled.
Hours later, Lisa woke up.
She’d rolled over in her sleep.
And her head was on his shoulder.
His arm was around her waist. Holding her there.
His breathing was steady. Like he’d been awake the whole time.
The crown was quiet. Warm.
Lisa didn’t move.
And neither did he.
---
---
### *CHAPTER 9: "Command the Thorns"*
_Bonded by Thorns and Crown_
The storm was gone. Sunlight cut through the windows like knives.
Lisa woke alone. The blanket was still around her. His side of the bed was cold.
A note on the nightstand. Black paper. Gold ink.
_“Garden. Dawn. Learn or bleed. -K”_
Lisa groaned. The crown pulsed.
The garden was different in daylight. Still dead. Still thorns. But now she could see them move. Breathing. Watching.
The king was waiting by the frozen fountain. Fully dressed. Black on black.
“Today,” he said, “you stop being prey.”
Lisa crossed her arms. “And how do I do that?”
He held out his hand. Not to her. To the air.
A vine shot from the ground and wrapped around his wrist. It didn’t cut him. It bowed.
“The crown is not jewelry, Lisa. It’s a weapon.” His gold eyes met hers. “And you are my queen. That means they obey you too.”
Lisa scoffed. “They didn’t obey me last night.”
“Because you were afraid.” He stepped closer. “Fear smells like blood to them.”
He took her hand. His was freezing. He pressed her palm flat against a thick black vine on the ground.
“Close your eyes,” he commanded. “Feel it.”
Lisa did. The vine was cold. Alive. And under it... she felt the crown pulse. Once. Twice. Like a heartbeat.
“Now,” his voice was low in her ear, “tell it what you want.”
“I... I want it to let go.”
The vine loosened. Slithered off her hand and back into the dirt.
Lisa’s eyes snapped open. “I did it.”
“You did.” For the first time, he almost smiled. “Again.”
“Make the rose bloom.”
She turned to a dead black rose bush. Focused. Felt the crown burn.
_Bloom._
A rose unfurled. Petals like blades. Perfect. Black.
The king was quiet. Then: “Good.”
He walked behind her. His chest almost touched her back. He lifted his hand and hovered it over the crown.
“Last lesson. When you’re in danger... command them to protect you.”
He snapped his fingers.
Three vines erupted from the ground and caged Lisa in a dome of thorns. Sharp. Close.
Lisa yelped. “Get it off!”
“Command it,” he said. No panic in his voice. “You’re the queen.”
Her heart was racing. The crown was screaming.
_Protect me._
The vines pulled back. Instantly. Leaving her untouched.
Silence.
Then the king’s hand came down on her shoulder. Heavy. Approving.
“You learn fast.”
His mouth was at her ear. “Don’t make me regret teaching you.”
The crown warmed. Pleased.

### *CHAPTER 10: "To Test The Bond"*
_Bonded by Thorns and Crown_
_FINAL CHAPTER TO 5000_ 🔥
The crown hadn’t been quiet all day.
It buzzed. Itched. Pulled toward him like a magnet.
Lisa found him in the throne room. Empty. Just him and a chair made of black bone and thorns.
“You wanted to see me?” she asked.
The king didn’t turn. “The bond is unstable.”
Lisa frowned. “What bond?”
He stood. Slow. Deliberate. “The crown bound you to me. But bonds like this... they need to be tested.”
The room was cold. The thrones behind him seemed to watch. he looked at her for a very long time.... but then lisa had something in her mind but she's didn't know how to say it out, she later give in to her body and finally said that which was bordering her mind since.....
“How do you test it?” Lisa’s voice came out small like a whisper.
The king cold eyes were still on her ... and then he walked to her. He stopped inches away from her. The crown on her head flared really hot.
“With a touch,” he finally said quietly. “With trust. With one thing we’ve both been avoiding.”
Lisa’s heart was in her throat. “And what’s that?” she asked, her voice coming out so small like a whisper.
His hand came up. He didn’t touch her face. He touched the crown. One finger brushed a thorn.
Pain and pleasure shot through her at the same time.
“The kiss,” he whispered. “It’s the oldest way to test if a crown accepts its queen.”
Lisa stared at him. “What if it rejects me?”
“Then it kills you.” He said it like fact. “And me.”
Lisa should’ve run. She should’ve said no.
But Maya was safe.
And his eyes weren’t cruel right now. They were... scared.
“Okay,” she whispered.
He didn’t give her time to think.
His hand cupped her jaw. Cold. Steady.
He tilted her head up.
And he kissed her.
It wasn’t soft.
It wasn’t gentle.
It was claiming.
It was 300 years of loneliness.
It was anger and fear and something that felt dangerously like need.
The crown exploded.
Light burst behind Lisa’s eyes. Black thorns and gold fire.
She saw everything: His coronation. His curse. The centuries alone in that garden.
And she saw herself. Wearing the crown. Standing beside him on the throne.
The kiss broke.
They were both breathing hard.
The crown on her head was silent. Warm. Settled.
The king touched his thumb to her bottom lip. Stared at it like he didn’t believe it.
“It accepted you,” he said. Voice rough. “The crown... accepted you.”
Lisa’s knees were weak. “What does that mean?”
It means,” he stepped back, putting space between them, “that you’re mine now. Truly.”
His gold eyes met hers. Dark. Intense.
“And I’m yours.”
Outside, the thorns in the garden bloomed. All at once.
Black roses. Thousands of them.
Lisa put a hand to her chest. The crown wasn’t heavy anymore.
It felt like home
