Chapter 12- Exams!

Varun POV:-

Once she slept, I saw her mother look at me with rage. She said in a low voice, " You can leave now. "

" I want to stay with her, mam. " I stated. She looked at her sister and sighed.

" Mahi, stay here with your sister. We will be back after a serious talk. " She stated, and I understood she wanted to stay with me.

I followed her when she left the room. She came out of the building and sat on a bench. There was no one around us.

" Sit! " She ordered, and I did as she said. Indeed, I don't follow anyone's instructions. If there were anyone other than Nandini's family, they would be buried under six feet.

She raised her hand, I thought she would beat me to the pulp. But to my utter shock, she caressed my cheek where she slapped me.

" Is it paining? " She asked.

" No, aunt. " I replied truthfully. She hummed.

" I talked to your driver who took us here. He told me everything about you and your sister. I knew your sister had some complications yesterday during delivery, and you rushed here to meet your sister. Your driver wasn't with you at that moment. So, you did the reckless driving, which made my daughter like this. " She stated in a cold calm voice, and I lowered my eyes in shame.

" Yes, it's true. I didn't want to do anything like this to her. I'm ashamed I made her like this. But I will do anything to give her a normal life. I talked to her doctor about everything. They can do a surgery for her. So, she could get legs although they were machines, not her natural legs. But she could walk again and live a normal life. he told me he could perform this surgery after 6 months when she recovered from her current wounds. " I confessed, and she looked at me with tears.

" Are you staying with her just for pity? " She asked.

" No, aunt. You guys don't deserve this pain that is caused by me. So, I am here with you guys until she becomes better. " I confessed.

" You know very well, she is going to pay you for everything you would do to her. " She said, and I hummed.

" Then why do you want to be close to her? Now, we are here. You should spend your time with your sister and your niece. Then, why didn't you want to leave her? " She asked and I looked at her with a stunned expression. She was right. They are here to take care of her. Then why am I not ready to leave her? Do I like her like my sister said?

No, I am not. I just feel responsible towards her because I made her like this.

" I just want to make sure she is okay before leaving her alone. " I stated, but I felt like telling the half-truth. She nodded, and we came back to the room.

I looked at her who was sleeping like a baby. Then I left leaving her and her family alone.

One Month Later:-

Varun POV:-

It's been a month since she was admitted to the hospital. My sister stayed in the hospital for a month as well. It's because of the complications that made her and my niece sick. Her doctor told her to make her stay here. She ordered me to make her and Nandini's bed in the same room. Doctors didn't find any problem with it. So, they give them the same room. Somewhere it made me relieved as I could see Nandini everything in the room. I talked to her mother and sister and told them to leave at night as my family stayed with my sister. It took them two days to convince. Finally, they agreed. I could see my sister bonded with Nandini and her family. Mahi, Nandini's sister, and my sister are the same. They liked to talk about fashion trends, makeup, and all the other things normal girls did. But Nandini is different. When they talked to each other, she put the headphones around her ears and started listening to nature or soft music and started studying for her upcoming exams.

This month, she took all her exams despite her mental stress, fear, and worry about facing people. She fought her inner mind and went for her exams. She fought with her doctors who tried to stop her from going to her exams. But her determination is somewhat they liked and they let her go for her exam. I was the one who took her to her exam. I still remember the first time, we went for her second exam but the first exam was in this situation.

Flashback:-

Nandini POV:-

" I am ready. " I stated and looked at the nurse who gave me a thumbs up. We came out of the bathroom. I saw Varun's sister who looked at me with shock My family looked at me with a smile. I looked at Varun who looked at me head to toe with a satisfied smirk. I huffed at his expression.

" Wow! Nandini, you are looking beautiful. " She stated, and this made my smile flatter.

" I am not beautiful, Preeti. " I stated, and she looked at me with a smile.

" No, darling. You are very beautiful. Just like your pure heart. " She stated, and I smiled for her sake. I don't find myself beautiful anymore. I felt ugly seeing me like this. I felt like a pathetic person who needed help all the time.

" Alright, Nandu. You need to leave now or you are going to be late. " Maa stated, and I nodded. My exam is in the morning shift. So, we need to reach in an hour. Varun came and started to drag the wheelchair. I looked at my subject I had the exam today. My two friends were with me in the same institute and the same exam center. How are they going to behave with me now?

I was so worried about it that I didn't even realize we reached my exam center.

Varun again helped me putting me in the wheelchair. He took the admit card and I-card from me and left to check the room number for me. I stayed there in my thoughts until I heard two familiar voices.
