A mysterious fog swept through the woods as I cautiously pushed branches out of the way. I had never been afraid of the dark, but this nightly hour frighted my soul. Not knowing where I was headed added to my worry. The fog was thick and difficult to see in, while the darkness around me didn’t matter, I could not see through the fog. I pulled out my phone hoping the flashlight would give me a sense of direction. The light only reflected into my eyes, momentarily blinding me. “Damn it,” I hissed as I rubbed my eyes together. It was then that I caught his scent, he was nearby. I just knew it. I picked up the pace, not caring where I placed my foot next. Only a couple of strides out, I walked straight into a cold wet branch. It was thick enough to not even be considered a branch anymore.
