That Day
[Prologue] Before I leave the house, I always get up early, go for my daily run, brush my teeth, wash my face, and give my girlfriend Gugu a kiss. I brew a cup of coffee using three teaspoons, add milk, then prepare toast and omelets for breakfast, along with a banana on the side. The gorillas and monkeys who swing from tree to tree with strangers carrying them and sharing their life stories as if they know something are something I routinely watch on the Animal Channel, which is where I always tune in to learn about discoveries. I was born in a little village named Maseku, which is close to Sharp Town. My family and I sell wood to anyone who needs it for construction or heating. Together with a few villagers' laborers, we go wood-chopping, hunting, and fishing in the forest every afternoon. I visited a city that was constructed by a well-known people whose name escapes me; strangers these days use sophisticated materials to construct buildings. "Jama, come here," someone yelled. I went into a huge city ever since I was tiny and was informed that people who live there are well off in life can live there, but some seem nice and some are dangerous. It was my old friend Vuko, who became quite thrilled to hear that we both graduated from high school. I was a student applying to colleges, so I assumed it was a lie until I met this man named Lindo. Together with my friend Vuko, I was accepted to the Kilimano College. As we struggled to fit in, we met two kids named Shabba and Shakira. I spent the first semester studying hard, but when I went home, the other guys asked me to undertake some science projects because I had done well in chemistry in high school. As we struggled with a few issues in the interim, we had to call others. You know how that goes—you'll need a mathematician, physics, and specialized techniques. I wasn't comfortable disclosing that kind of bookish conduct in order to pass the exam, land the job, and forget about your issues. I initially declined Shabba and Shakia's invitation to the party, but I changed my mind and went. As a result, the other members of our friendship group and other people I had never met in college were present. It wasn't just about partying; I also enjoyed hanging out with new and old friends and playing games, telling jokes, and pulling practical jokes on complete strangers. I came home residents at the college straight to my room thrown myself to bed and just slept like it was my last. It was a blast the first person I should call is my girlfriend in the morning, she gets mad if I don't say nothing even once in a day. So it's easy to text friends. As the days and weeks passed, the experiment I was working on with my pals proceeded smoothly. It was finished, but we still needed a test subject to check if our medications worked. Even though we couldn't compete with Jamal and Jabu's c******s operation, don't we all need money for something? A handful of the pills given to Sipho and Sabelo were taken by Thabo, the former class clown. I took one pill by accident to see if it worked. However, it took me a few weeks to become sick and end up in the hospital, even though other people had purchased the pills. I was depressed and anxious about an impending test when I took them, so I may have taken too many. I hope the other guys are okay.
