Annabeth's POV
From afar, while still inside the vehicle, I could already see the University standing proudly in the distance. Its land was far wider than our castle's—buildings painted in different colors, clouds above tinted in strange hues. Even from outside, the trees and grass looked hazy, shimmering as if alive.
I can't stop myself from praising the view. I never saw magic since the day I was born and now... wow.
In Annika's memories, there wasn't even a single image of what the University looked like, so I assume she had never set foot here before.
Well, she truly wanted to study here. But because she had no powers, she was forbidden—instead, she was hidden away, ashamed of by her own family. Hayst, Annika dear... your life sucks, and that's exactly what makes us compatible with each other.
I wonder... what could Annika's power be? I can feel this strange energy inside her body, but it feels sealed. Did she once have powers and was forced to hide them? Or maybe she never knew because her body was too weak? I'll just figure it out myself.
"We're here, Princess," the driver announced as he stopped the car inside the school grounds.
We're already inside? I didn't even notice. My brilliant mind was too busy thinking.
I rolled my eyes at my own stupidity. Why's my mind so occupied? Now I don't even know how to get out of this place—where the exit is and all. Whatever.
I was about to step out when my hand froze in midair after hearing the sound of a trumpet. One of my eyebrows lifted as I watched the royal guards lining up beside my siblings' vehicles.
Wow. Only they get that kind of treatment, huh? Attention seekers. Show-offs. Acting like they're so beautiful and handsome. Just wait—I'll steal all your spotlight. I'll make sure all that attention becomes mine.
I laughed at my own thoughts, causing the driver to stare at me again in confusion. I shot him a glare.
"If you keep looking at me like that, I won't hesitate to stab your eyes out. i***t," I threatened. He quickly looked away, visibly trembling in his seat. I rolled my eyes and focused outside.
"THE DELACROIX PRINCESSES AND PRINCES OF THE EARTH KINGDOM HAVE ARRIVED!"
And once again, the trumpet sounded.
Trumpet of angels? Of course not. Those are demons.
The twins stepped out of their golden car with bright smiles, waving at the people gathered around to witness their arrival. The students screamed in excitement. But the noise only grew louder when the three men stepped out of their respective vehicles. The annoying smirks on their lips irritated me beyond reason. I wanted to erase those grins with my fists until they'd never smile again for the rest of their lives.
They're all out now... my turn.
Let me steal some attention.
I opened the door of my car and stepped out with a serious expression. The surroundings fell silent. Everyone wore shocked and confused expressions. I could even hear their murmurs and whispers.
"Who's that?"
"That's Princess Annika, right?"
"How come she was allowed to study here?"
"Doesn't she have no powers?"
"I thought she was dead?"
"Goddd! What a disgrace!"
"They say her family is ashamed of her."
"So that's why she was hidden?"
"Eww, that title doesn't suit her at all."
With every word I heard, anger and pain slowly seeped into my chest. I was furious—irritated—but the pain wasn't mine. It was Annika's. I don't know if she's still here inside this body, but even if she isn't, her heart still reacts to words like these.
'Annika! You stupid princess, don't get affected by whatever they say! Remember, I'm here, and I won't let them treat us like trash... again,' I thought, as if speaking directly to the real Annika—even without knowing if she could hear me.
"Looks like I would enjoy my stay here..." I muttered as a demonic smile slowly appeared on my lips.
I walked toward my siblings and stood beside them. Only my footsteps and their breathing echoed in the silence. I could feel the tension thick in the air, and it only made me happier. Attention—I really love this kind of attention.
When I was still Annabeth, I was known as Vladd. i am merciless, heartless and was widely known for my heinous crime. Almost every day, my name appeared on TV—my masked face plastered on posters across the streets, alongside the names of those I killed. I loved the media's attention so much that I killed every day. Oh Gosh, I miss killing.
"Get away from us!" my siblings shouted angrily, and just like that, the whole school seemed to push me away as well.
"Why are you here?!"
"Get out of this school!"
"Eww, b***h, get lost!"
"Slvt! You'll stain the school's name!"
"Leave!"
I didn't respond to any of the insults thrown at me. I was annoyed—irritated. You know what's funny? I just arrived, and they already want me gone. Couldn't they at least wait until I've killed them all? Tsk. Idiots.
"Ugh, you're no fun, people..." I rolled my eyes and looked at my siblings. "...so? Where's my room?" I asked seriously, with a hint of mockery.
"How would we know?! Find it yourself! The king and queen aren't here anyway, so we have no responsibility over you!" Caleb snapped before walking away, followed by the others. But Dianne and Dionne had a few words for me before leaving.
"Don't expect us to be your siblings here, trash. Don't ever come near us, and don't expect the school to accept you! You're just a nobody here!" Dianne spat before following the others. Dionne only laughed coldly while shaking his head. He even bumped into my shoulder—but when he did, he froze for a few seconds before continuing to walk away. Psh. Losers.
A cold, serious aura surrounded me as I watched their figures fade into the distance. The students and guards were gone too—I assumed they had returned to their rooms. I was left alone on the field with my luggage.
A few moments later...
"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" I burst out laughing. I laughed like a madman while staring at the path my siblings took.
Still laughing, not caring how loud it was, I whispered into the air through clenched teeth, "Don't expect, huh? Well, don't expect me to tolerate you for long. I am no longer the nobody, Dianne. You're not in the position to decide whether I remain one."
And then I laughed again—my mind already playing with the bloody things I planned to do to them.
