Prologue
It was a cold and windy night.
The wind blew softly against the window pane, and the lights were flickering off and on.
In the distance, you could hear thunder.
It should have been a wonderful night according to the weather news, but you can't control the weather, especially in Oregon.
With a heavy sigh, Kalia walked over to her fireplace. She added some wood and started the fire.
She had been planning on going for a walk outside, but with the weather tonight, she changed her mind. Now, she was planning on reading a book by the firelight. The question was, what book should she read tonight?
Once the fire started, Kalia got up and with another heavy sigh, walked over to her bookshelf.
She looked at all her books and came across one that she didn't remember getting.
Kalia then pulled the book off the shelf. It was quite beautiful with its burgundy cover, silver and gold vines, and a diamond above the title. But she couldn't make out what the title was. It was in a language she hadn't seen before.
Curiously, Kalia walked over to her chair and sat down. Once she was comfortable, she opened up the book.
Then everything went dark.
