The battle above Earth shook the heavens.
From the streets of Ebon City, people watched in stunned silence as flashes of blue, crimson, and black lit up the night sky. News helicopters kept their distance while every camera on Earth pointed toward the impossible war unfolding beyond the clouds.
The Devourer roared.
Its voice echoed through the minds of every living creature.
"Everything... returns... to nothing."
Its enormous claws tore through space, striking Revenant with overwhelming force.
The Fallen Guardian crashed through the burning wreckage of a Dominion battleship, sending twisted metal spinning into the atmosphere.
Yet moments later, he emerged from the flames.
His crimson eyes still burned with determination.
Kairo floated beside Orion, struggling to catch his breath.
Every muscle in his body screamed from the earlier battle.
"We can't let him fight alone," Kairo said.
Orion nodded.
"But if we attack carelessly, the Devourer will absorb our energy."
"Then what do we do?"
Orion looked toward Revenant.
"We remind him who he was."
Revenant charged once more.
The Void Blade carved across the Devourer's chest, opening another deep wound.
Dark blood drifted into space like liquid shadows.
The monster barely reacted.
Instead, six crimson eyes fixed upon Revenant.
"You still resist..."
"You still cling..."
"...to hope."
The Devourer unleashed a wave of black energy.
Revenant crossed his blade in defense, but the blast overwhelmed him.
He was hurled toward Earth like a falling meteor.
Kairo shot after him.
Blue energy surrounded his body as he caught Revenant before he struck the atmosphere.
The impact nearly knocked Kairo unconscious.
Together they slowed until they hovered above the clouds.
Revenant looked at him in confusion.
"Why... save me?"
Kairo smiled despite the pain.
"Because heroes save people."
"You are not my enemy."
"You've just forgotten who you are."
Revenant remained silent.
Inside his mind, shattered memories stirred.
He saw children waving at him.
He saw Guardians standing proudly beside him.
He heard a woman's voice.
"No matter how dark the night becomes... you'll always find your way home."
His hand trembled.
The Void Blade flickered.
Far below, Commander Voss watched everything unfold.
His face twisted with anger.
"No."
"He's remembering."
He slammed his fist onto the control console.
"If Revenant breaks free..."
"We lose everything."
He turned toward his scientists.
"Prepare the Void Override."
One scientist hesitated.
"Commander... it's never been tested."
"I didn't ask."
The scientist reluctantly activated the machine.
Deep beneath the base, enormous generators roared to life.
A crimson beam shot into the sky, locking onto Revenant's chest.
The Void Core glowed violently.
Revenant screamed.
Dark energy wrapped around his body like chains.
The memories disappeared once again.
His eyes turned completely crimson.
Kairo watched in horror.
"What did they do?"
Orion clenched his fists.
"They forced the Void Core back under Voss's control."
Revenant slowly raised his sword.
This time...
He pointed it at Kairo.
"I remember only one mission."
"Destroy the Shadow Guardian."
Without warning, Revenant attacked.
The battle resumed.
His strikes were faster than ever.
Kairo barely avoided the first s***h.
The second cut across his shoulder.
The third shattered his energy shield.
He was being overwhelmed.
"You don't want this!" Kairo shouted.
"I have no choice."
Their swords and fists collided again and again.
Each impact echoed across the clouds.
Suddenly, Serak arrived.
His spear flashed with brilliant white light as he intercepted Revenant's next strike.
"You'll have to face both of us."
Revenant pushed them backward with a burst of Void energy.
Even together, they struggled to hold him.
The Shadow Core whispered inside Kairo's mind.
There is another way.
"What way?"
Merge your light with his memories.
"I don't understand."
The Shadow Core cannot destroy the Void Core.
But it can awaken the heart beneath it.
Kairo looked at Revenant.
He remembered the giant saving civilians before corruption claimed him.
The hero was still there.
Buried.
Waiting.
"I'll keep him busy!" Serak shouted.
Kairo closed his eyes.
Instead of attacking, he concentrated on the Shadow Core.
Blue light spread from his chest.
The light became brighter.
Warmer.
It wasn't a weapon.
It was a memory.
Images burst from the Shadow Core.
The first Guardians.
Countless worlds saved from destruction.
Children cheering their protectors.
Friends standing together beneath distant stars.
The memories flowed toward Revenant.
The giant staggered.
"No..."
Another memory surfaced.
His true name.
Caelan.
A young Guardian laughing beside Orion.
Swearing an oath before the Council.
"We protect life—not because it is easy, but because every life matters."
The Void Core fought back.
Darkness swallowed the memories.
But they returned again.
Stronger.
Revenant dropped to one knee.
His sword slipped from his hand.
Tears formed beneath his helmet.
"I..."
"My name..."
Kairo floated closer.
"You're Caelan."
"You were a hero."
"You still can be."
For several long seconds, nothing happened.
Then...
The crimson glow in Revenant's eyes faded.
Blue light slowly replaced it.
The Void Core cracked.
A beam of darkness escaped into space.
Commander Voss stared at the monitor in disbelief.
"No..."
"No!"
The Devourer sensed the change.
It stopped advancing toward Earth.
Its six eyes narrowed.
"The First Guardian..."
"...awakens."
Caelan slowly stood.
His armor remained black.
The Void Core still rested within his chest.
But his eyes were no longer filled with hatred.
Only resolve.
He looked at Kairo.
"You never gave up on me."
Kairo smiled.
"Heroes don't give up on people."
For the first time in thousands of years...
Caelan smiled back.
Then he summoned the Void Blade.
Its crimson edge transformed into brilliant silver.
Orion bowed his head.
"The greatest Guardian has returned."
The Devourer roared with fury.
The battle for Earth had entered its final stage.
This time...
Humanity would not stand alone.
Three Guardians now faced the ancient destroyer together.
And across the stars, legends long thought forgotten were being reborn.
